Fu flicks don't get much better in terms of fights. The plot is relatively commonplace: student revenge of his master. Considering that none of the cast was a staple HK fu star of the time, and the flick was produced by a smaller company, this is an amazing, well done film. The three main male characters are standouts in the fighting sequences: Alexander Lo Rei as the student, Sun Jung-Chi as the Shaolin teacher, and Chen Shan as the Lama. All three have incredible acrobatic kung fu abilities. William Yen also gives a solid performance as the Shaolin student who befriends Rei's character. Yen provides the comedic touches to the movie.

As low budget independent fu flicks go, "Shaolin Vs. Lama" is solid gold! Too bad it's not currently available in widescreen for the home viewing audience.

Great movie. Absolutley one of the best! The rap group Wu-Tang Clan uses sound bits from this classic flick. All the movies they sample are top choice.

This is one of my favorites! Incredible fight sequences and styles. Mark Long at his best as the crazy monk. Nice monastery stuff too. I loved it.

This is a great movie for its time. The acting may not be the stuff Hollywood movies are made of, but the fighting is definitely intense. Add this DVD to your collection as you won't be disappointed at all.

Wasn't too sure at first because of the title, but ended up being an all time favorite of mine.

A pretty ordinary movie with the main characters underutilized.

This is one of the best old kung fu movies I have seen. There is a nice amount of very fast action and the movie never really slows down. The only thing I can complain about is that the fights at night are a little too dark and a bit hard to see. It is still definitely worth buying.

This is my favorite old school action flick of all time. It has the humor and all the action you can handle. The training scenes are excellent, and the movie plot is also excellent. I love the "shaolin monastery scenery" in this movie. Shaolin movies are my favorite old school flicks and it should be a joy to watch. There is classic revenge in this movie and a must see for that special old school fanatic like me.

From start to finish, this movie established itself as a classic. This is probably Alexander Lo Rei's best performance yet. Many special techniques are demonstrated in this piece such as the Butterfly Fist, Tiger Fist, Buddha Fingers, and, my favorite, Shaolin Shadow Boxing. I have seen both the English dubbed version and the sub-titled version, so following the story-line wasn't difficult. This movie, along with Chinese Super Ninja, are so far my two favorite traditional kung-fu films of all-time, but there are still hundreds more that I haven't seen yet. So if you're a avid traditional kung-fu fan and collector like myself, this is a must have. Trust me.

This is as close to a five [star rating] as there is. For old school kung fu flix, this is one of the best considering it's not a shaw brothers movie. The kung fu action, plot, along with some comedy makes this a must-see!!!
