Petty, arrogant god Dragon Fighter Lo Han (Stephen Chow) is changed into "Monk Chai" and ordered to alter the fates of three bad people on Earth, lest he be retransmigationized.
Overview:
The comedy of Stephen Chow is stretched in a different direction as he registers his entry in the "heavenly immortals come to earth to redeem mankind" sub-genre of fantasy films. He plays a gentle god on a mission to turn around the lives of a murderer, a beggar, and a prostitute, the latter played by Maggie Cheung. Sumptuous period costumes complement Chow's usual set-pieces, which sometimes take on a surreal appearance, and the concluding sequence is not to be missed.
II - "May be Inappropriate For Children" (Broad rating may be roughly equal to an MPPA rating of "PG-13" to "R". In the late 1980s this rating splintered in two ratings: IIA and IIB) Films rated Category II may contain mild to strong violence, nudity that is usually not sexually oriented, explicit language and adult situations.
