HKFlix Says: 4.5 Stars
An absolute blast; laugh-out-loud funny; and you'll catch yourself holding your breath during the action sequences! This film appeals to a very wide audience, even to people who usually dislike Stephen Chow.
Avg. Rating:
4.5 / 5 (based on 34 ratings). What did you think of it?
Plot:Shaolin Kung Fu proselytizer Stephen Chow unites with a washed up soccer star to build the ultimate team, combining sportsmanship with martial arts (think "Seven Samurai" meets "The Matrix" meets "The Waterboy").
Overview:Shaolin Kung Fu proselytizer Stephen Chow unites with a very washed up soccer star to assemble the ultimate underdog soccer team (think "Seven Samurai" meets "The Matrix" meets "The Waterboy"). Combining conventional sportsmanship with ancient martial arts, they will show their soccer rivals ("The Evil Team") that they're not to be trifled with.

This film was by far the highest-grossing in Hong Kong this summer (2001), and many consider it Stephen Chow's best work--and his best chance to date at appealing to American audiences. The film features digital effects by brilliant HK workshop Centro Digital Pictures (Andrew Lau staple), and features a little something for everyone.
