"Jakarta" is for those true fans of heist-gone-wrong films. The movie is enjoyable from start to finish, and every time I watch it, it can always put a smile on my face. The movie has tons of characters breaking into the same bank on the same day, but what this movie has is intelligent plot twists and catchy music. The film is fun and very entertaining.

"Jakarta" is a very clever heist-gone-wrong flick. It is also entertaining and has a lot of style, which makes it refreshing to this genre--plus a lot of nicley done plot twists. I love this film!

This is a South Korean comedy crime-thriller that really gave me quite a surprise. This was a fun movie, with twists and turns galore. The story basically revolves around a bank heist, and how three separate groups of people all attempt to rob it at the same time. Recommended if you're into heist flicks with fun characters and a lot of twists.

A very good movie. It obvoiously took a lot of its inspiration from Tarantino, but it still has a Korean flavor to it. There are also a couple good dark comic gags in there. A real gem that not enough people know about. If you're even considering picking this one up, I strongly suggest that you do.

Jakarta is a great movie that cleverly takes your sense of reality and makes you believe something that will late be proven false. There are two parts to Jarkarta:
Part 1) The Crime That You Saw
Part 2) What Really Happened

Part 1
The first half of the movie is somewhat slow. However there are humorous scenes every now and again to keep you glued to the screen. In this half, there are 3 different teams of robbers who attempt to rob a bank. However, only time can tell what happens when they meet each other coincidently on the same day and time. Nevertheless, Part 1 is essential to understanding the movie.

Part 2
The second half is where everything picks up. Part 2 goes back to the beginning of the robbery. Just when you think you're going to watch the same old robbery again, you'll be proven wrong. The actually robbery itself is revealed through clever plot twists and turns. And just when you think that you can predict what's going to happen, you'll be proven wrong again. Up until the very end of the movie you'll be left on the edge of your seat, scratching your head and smiling to the satisfaction of being entertained. And after the movie is over you'll be speechless and overcome with the same feeling as you did when you watched the ending of The Usual Suspects and Ocean's Eleven.

Jarkarta was a cleverly made movie. Every minute of the film was slick and intricately planned for the one sole purpose of entertainment. However the re-watching value is drastically reduced after watching it once because you already know the whole plot. Despite that I highly recommended Jarkarta for anybody who simply likes to have fun.

The new Korean movie Jakarta is about a group of people who attempt to commit the perfect crime and escape to the Indonesian capital with their loot. The moviemakers suggest that the eventual success of the criminal act, which ends with escape to the tropical capital, recreates the meaning of the name "Jakarta" itself and that in the criminal underworld, the name of the South-east Asian capital means the perfect crime.

More than just a crime flick, this is an interesting film which blurs the margins between genres by combining elements from comedy, thriller and action movies. However, it succeeds only on the level of pure entertainment. It is not a movie that requires or provokes much thought as it seems to be concerned solely with amusing the public. It is enough to relax and let yourself go with the film rather than look for meaning as there appears to be little, if any, to be found.

There are many reversals of fortune in the first part of the movie which create a tense atmosphere and grab the viewers' attention. A sudden series of scenes done in animation towards the middle of the film, however, dissipates the tension and seem to have no other purpose than to provide comic relief where it is least required. This is an unusual device and its purpose here is difficult to fathom. It seems that the director tried to turn this into a happy or funny movie at this point with the insertion of these scenes but the plan backfired. The tension of the earlier scenes is lost and the film gains little from this experiment with animation.

"Jakarta" must be given credit for its plot though, which is more interesting than that found in the average robbery movie. Three teams of thieves arrive at a bank at the same time to break into its safe. Each group consists of two or three members and each has a different reason for being there. Naturally things don't go as planned because the robbers have to contend with each other as well as dealing with the bank staff and the police. A bloodbath ensues as the three groups fight each other to try to be the ones who get away with the loot, and most of the thieves are killed in the process.

The one team which is left standing gets away with the considerable fortune of $3 million. This is the only group that makes it to the plane headed for Jakarta. They have managed to perpetrate the perfect crime.
