Yes, you're absolutely right if you're thinking YOUNG AND DANGEROUS wannabe. This film is very close and certainly nods it's head to that series in it's camera work, character involvement, and there's even a cameo by the rookie cop who shot Ugly Kwan (played by who else, FRANCIS NG) in first part of that long running Triad epic (the characters of this film even mention that moment by name). But this time we've got some great looking Chinese chicks as the gang members (LOLETTA LEE, KAREN MOK, MARIANNE CHAN, and TERESA MAK) instead of the regular male castings for this sort of flick. So if you're into girls-with-guns kicking butt, (sorry, but NO kissing butt, these gals aren't lesbians, damn it!) then, by all means, watch this movie because other than that, there's no a lot to it really. It's a story of mob boss, Brother One's ex-girlfriend, Marble (LOLETTA LEE), who's female gang rival is just now getting out of prison. She hooks up with another up and coming gang boss trying to take over Brother One's position and it's gang war vengeance, girl-style. So I must confess, I'm guilty, it's always a pleasure to see Oriental babes beating the snot out of each other. And as an added bonus, somehow FRANCIS NG (my personal favorite for gangsta roles) got rounded up to play the main character's love interest. So, my advice to you on this one is to leave your brain at the door and enjoy the exploitive action of the female version (or rip-off, your choice) of an all girl YOUNG AND DANGEROUS movie. And believe it or not, they actually made a sequel a year later. But unfortunately though, most of the original cast didn't return for it.

Fun but pointless exercise in female triad recruitment. Francis Ng Chun Yu continues to shine playing the opposite of his character in Young and Dangerous with George. Loletta Lee is somewhat convincing as Marble, but still not as great as Karen Morris doing her female version of Chicken. All and all a decent film, but I just can't understand why these supposedly independent woman are so dependant on man.
