Deception: Viewer Comments

Wow! What a ride! This little gem should be required viewing for all those bad writers in Hollywood who produce "suspense dramas" with about as much substance as white bread. They could learn a thing or two about character development, plot, camera angles, and that nail biting tension these movies are supposed TO be. Loosely based on real events this is a classic tale of black mail gone bad and all the complications those caught in must deal with. It's a switch for Brigitte Lin who plays a passive, somewhat helpless role but is very scheming and aware of what is happening. No, she doesn't have swords, flies or wears white hair but instead wields a mean shot gun. Those whom she trust are deceivers and the movie keeps you guessing which direction it is going. For those familiar with cute Joey Wang in her innocent, sweet girl gig this will be an utter shock. She plays twin sisters and is very SINISTER. These roles display a wide range of skill and show her impressive capacity as an actress. Very few movies of this type are ever good and it takes real talent on the part of everyone from set designer to director to make it work. I highly recommend viewing Deception as the finest example of suspense. Two thumbs up!
