Very conventional movie about a man's dedication to his work. It turns very sentimental at times, but, nonetheless has some interesting moments (mainly the cinematography). As a sidenote, train buffs should enjoy this very much!

This movie is quite a simple story about a railroad guy devoted to his job. It's Takakura Ken here, as an aged poppoya. As the town and his job dies, so does he.

Poppoya is one of the greatest films of all time. The story and characters will touch the hearts of the viewers. Ken Takakura and Hirosue Ryokos performances are simply outstanding!

It's a classic in my movie library!
