Bandits From Shantung (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure What makes this movie stand out is the action, which keeps coming at you. The Bandits From Shantung are some bad dudes, because when the town hears that they are coming, almost everybody clears out. The bandits are led by Sammo Hung, who strikes a fearful image as a bad guy, wielding his imposing broadsword. When a lone swordsman (played by the great Chang Yi) wanders into town, the bandits have no idea who they are messing with.
This is a movie that you will watch and rewatch when you are looking for that action fix. There are copious amounts of blood and interesting combat scenarios--in short, my kind of flick.
Bloody Fight [1972] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure "Bloody Fight" is an old school basher film from 1972. That usually means that the kung fu is not very complex or sophisticated; but in this case the movie features some interesting styles. You will see Chinese Kung Fu (basher-style: block and punch), brutal hand to hand combat, Japanese samurai, Thai boxers--all in one movie! Just for the sheer amount of styles, it's a worthwhile movie to watch. The Chinese kung fu schools even fight against each other!
What you get with this film is the tried and true formula--the bad guys are bad and the good guys are good. That formula works for me when I'm looking for a solid old school kung fu film. So I'd recommend this for you viewing pleasure.
