Considering the all-star cast, this film could have and should have been a lot better. I think the director tries to do a little too much with the characters. You have a crack team of police specialists, led by a reluctant Sammo Hung, going up a against a team of trained terrorists, led by Heo Jun-Ho and Michael Biehn. To me the director tries too hard to get the audience involved with the main characters of both groups. He uses a lot of slow motion and glitzy MTV-inspired flashbacks to tell the various stories of the characters. There is plenty of action but it could have been done better. The biggest bright spot is the acting of Heo Jun-Ho, and the two fight scenes with Sammo Hung! This and the uninspired scenes of Maggie Q as a sniper for the enemy, equal up to about three stars. Decent police drama that cannot quite pull all its pieces together. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | N | not a 3 star pic. | JV47842 |

Awesome feature starring Chen Kuan Tai in one of his best acting roles! This movie kept my attention from start to finish with a compelling plot and great supporting actors like Ku Feng and Jason Pai Paio. In this one you find yourself rooting for the Manchurian constables (Ching Dynasty), led by Chen Kuan Tai. The action is plentiful but not what you would call spectacular. It is good enough to balance out this tale of Chen Kuan Tai's unyielding, hard-as-nails constable, who soon learns that not everything is in black and white--especially when it comes to people! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

I was very disappointed after viewing this 1969 Taiwanese made wuxia classic. The only redeeming features for me in this film were the colorful heroes and villains. The swordplay choreography was very basic and slow. I guess I've been spoiled by such wuxia classics as "The One Armed Swordsman" and "The Golden Swallow". The acting was okay but it was marred by the bad swordplay and inconsistent plot. The end was very disappointing due to the fact that a lot of plot threads were left dangling. It feels like a sequel or sequels were created to resolve the issues from the first film, and to continue the adventures of the main Hero, "Master Ou". Overall this was a bad film. I can only recommend this to the most hardcore old school wuxia fans, and only as an oddity! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Outlaw Of The Forest (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
This film opens with a good old school knockdown, drag out fight, between Liu Chia Yung and Ti Lung. It just gets better from here, starring Ti Lung as a no nonsense hero, imprisoned for killing his brother's murderers. Our hero soon gets caught up in intrigue as he helps the prison chief's son regain control of a paradise named "The Happy Forest". Unfortunately the prison chief's boss is the hidden enemy who wants to secretly keep control of the town. This leads to betrayal and a bloody finale that shows how Ti Lung becomes Monk Wu San from "The Water Margin", and its sequel "All Men Are Brothers". We clearly see great acting as well as action from Ti Lung and a good supporting cast. A must-see for all Ti Lung fans! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I really liked this movie a lot. | | | | Fearless [2006] (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
I thought this was a very entertaining film from the standpoint of Jet Li's acting. This was one of his best and most versatile performances that I have seen. Quite frankly there are better Jet movies when it comes to martial arts action and fight choreography. Take a look at the "Once Upon A Time in China" movies, "Fist Of Legend", "The New Hero Of Shaolin", or "Tai Chi Master", to name a few. However in this particular offering I thought Jet Li Lian-Jie gave a very heart warming performance as Chinese folk hero Huo Yuanjia, in this action/drama/ biopic. Four and a half stars for the acting and wonderful supporting characters. Three stars for those who judge this film only as a martial arts movie. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | yes i totally agree with you sgt.t this film is very entertaining i own the uk version of the film i cant wait to get my hands on the 2 disc directors cut.its without doubt jet li's best film in recent years. | kung fu kid | | Y | I agree- I wish the newer Jet Li flicks were up to par with Fearless, though it was his martial arts outing, and it was incredible with the story, acting, & of course the fights. | JV47842 |

 | | | | Flash Point (see film details) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts
Solid police drama presented by the same team that brought us "Killzone" ("SPL"). Donnie Yen has certainly proved that he is one of the best fight choreographers in the business, evidenced by one of the greatest end fights of all time between Donnie and Ngai Sing! Most people laud this film for the end fight and may urge you to fast-forward through the slow parts. However, I enjoyed the plot and character developement leading up to the main event. Louis Koo was excellent as Donnie's undercover partner trying to infiltrate a gang of smugglers led by three hard-as-nails brothers. Once Koo's cover is blown is when the movie starts to take off. We see Donnie walking the thin line between Bad boy cop and serious vigilante as the three brothers try to kill Koo and all he holds dear. I would classify this as a police drama with one hell of an ending, and not an actual action movie. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Good review- Flash Point does have one hell of an ending- i agree. | JV47842 | | Y | Good analysis. | | | | SPL: Sha Po Lang (see film details) Crime / Drama
Pretty good police movie directed by Simon Yip and chorographed by Donnie Yen. This is a straightforward police drama in which Simon Yam tries to arrest triad boss Sammo Hung by any means, even if he has to tamper with the evidence! Sammo Hung steals the movie with his criminal portrayal of the family-oriented crime boss. The end fight between Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen ranks as one of the top ten best fights of all time captured on celluloid. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | The sammo & donnie fight was amazing! The story, setting & atmosphere is also incredible. | JV47842 | | Y | I agree with everything you said with one exception. I honestly feel that this is a five star perfect movie just for how well it handles its many themes. | Bastard Ronin |

 | | | | Death Duel (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
One of my favorite Ku Lung-based movies directed by Chor Yuen with a stellar cast! Derek Yee portrays the number one swordsman of his time, who is always being challenged by others for fame and glory. Yee tries to leave this life behind by changing his identity. We soon see him as a homeless laborer working in a brothel, and thus begin his trials and tribulations! Yee soon learns that dropping the title of Top Sword is not easy! Look for good character performances from Ku Feng and the always lovely Yu On-On. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Agree! | | | | Roving Swordsman (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
A Chor Yuen-directed feature based on a Ku Lung novel. This is a straight ahead adventure with the usual beautiful sets and strange array of characters in movies based on Ku Lung novels. Ti Lung turns in a great performance as a witty swordsman, that stops a female villain from taking over the world of martial arts. Good movie for all Ti Lung fans. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Murder Plot (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
Good feature directed by Chor Yuen and based on a Ku Lung novel. Like all movies based on Ku Lung novels, this one has plot twists and turns with the best of them. Beautiful Shaw sets and great action make this one worth seeing. David Chiang is good in the lead and Lo Lieh is outstanding as the villain! Also good eye candy in the forms of Yu On-On, Ching Li, and Chen Ping. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | The Thunderbolt Fist (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
This is one of those Shaw Brothers movies that qualifies as being so bad, that it is good. You have the Japanese versus Chinese theme; you have the maimed hero theme in which he has the use of one arm; and you have a bizarre blood-spattered ending. For good measure let's add almost the whole cast of "King Boxer", minus Lo Lieh. Put it all together with the average fighting, James Nam's hammy portrayal as a Japanese karate expert, with the beat-to-crap hero, and you may laugh as hard as I did! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | The Killer [1972] (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
An old school Shaw Brothers flick with plenty of action and a bloody finale. Our hero, portrayed by Chung Wa, is duped into helping a Chinese smuggling ring, which in actuality is controlled by the Japanese. Chung Wa is soon reunited with his childhood friend, now a customs official, and they soon battle their way to the truth. Look for the great Ku Feng as the secret leader of the gang, a Japanese samurai! The cheese factor is in full effect, but this is worth a look. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

I am biased towards one of my favorite actors, Alexander Fu Shing, that's why I am giving it a high rating. This film is great if you like kung fu comedies! If not, this film is not for you. Fu Shing is great with his comedic performance and his martial arts moves. What I really loved was the comic performance of Ku Feng as Fu Shing's father. This guy is one versatile character actor! Bad guys Wang Lung Wei and Chun Wai Man round out a good cast for this top notch action comedy! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Swordsman And Enchantress (see film details) Martial Arts / Swordplay/Sword(s)
A very good film based on a Ku Lung novel done by the dream team of Chor Yuen and Tang Chia. In this film you have beautiful sets, great action, a twisting plot as usual of Ku Lung-based movies, and colorful characters. The plot centers around an all-powerful sword called the Deer Cutting Sword. Ti Lung is great as usual, but what I liked the most was the chemistry he shared with the lovely Ching Li. The ending is strange but that's the case with most Ku Lung-based movies. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

This is a feature based on a Ku Lung novel directed by Chang Peng Yi, and Starring Ti Lung. This one is not as good as the Ku Lung based movies directed by Chor Yuen starring Ti Lung, but it is entertaining. As usual for a Ku Lung based movie there are many plot twists but the story just does not flow together to evenly. Ti Lung and Lo Meng turn in some great performances in a story involving two feuding clans, as they each try to get the upper hand on one another. Good sets and good action. For those who are fans of movies based on kung fu fantasy novels! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Good call. | | | | The Spirit Of The Sword (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
I give this one four stars for the beautiful sets, outlandish action, and wonderful characters. This Chor Yuen-directed feature based on a Ku Lung novel stars Liu Yung in the lead. Many may know Liu Yung as a regular actor in the late great Bruce Lee's movies. Along with the lovely Huang Hsing-hsiu, and Sun Chien our hero tries to save his poisoned brother portrayed by Yueh Hua. Yueh Hua is the head of the Water Clan which is in charge of the other Five Element Clans and leader of the Martial Arts World. Leadership is determined every five years at a tournament with the five clan chiefs pitted against each other. The mystery Liu Yung must solve is who poisoned his brother and why before the tournament begins. This movie is not for everyone, its one of those wire-fu fantasies with super powers, but it is entertaining. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Killer Clans (see film details) Swordplay/Sword(s) / Martial Arts
This rating may be biased, but not by much! This Chor Yuen-directed feature based on a Ku Lung novel is outstanding. There are many plot twists to keep up with, but the viewer gets drawn in due to the wonderful character development. Add the beautiful sets, great action, along with a great cast and you have this entertaining gem to watch. Ku Feng portrays the benevolent head of a secret society trying to fend off betrayal from within, as he plans for every contingency. Yueh Hua is great as he portrays Ku Feng's right hand man, and Tsung Hua is equally great as the killer contracted to murder Ku Feng. A must-see for martial arts fans! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
