Five Fighters From Shaolin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure It's old school kung fu action directed by Lau Kar Leung. You can't go wrong here. Maybe, for some, the action will be slow because of the time it was made (1974), but it's authentic kung fu, baby!! You have to remember that at that time the filming techniques and choreography were only beginning to peak.
The Blade (product link) Swordplay/Sword(s) / Action/Adventure I was a bit disappointed with this film because of the pacing of the action and the uneven scenario. The action is hard to explain--it's very fast and it's difficult to clearly see the choreography. But there is something special about the flick, there is a lot of talent in this movie.
The Bare Footed Kid (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Good movie in general, a slow start on the action prevents this one from being 4 stars up. It takes time before we see the talent of the main character on screen. But a strong cast of actors.
Daggers 8 [PanMedia] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Wow!! I was surprised by the action in this one, especially the number of fights during the film. Another great independent film effort from the golden age of kung fu films.
He Has Nothing But Kung Fu [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Good B-movie with A-actors. The action is not as fluid as the classics, but still worth watching and collecting.
The Iron Fisted Monk (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Good debut for Sammo Hung with one of the best finales in kung fu history. Maybe a slow start but like I said the finale is something to see.
Goose Boxer / Tiger Over Wall [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure It's probably the best two-in-one deal you can find for kung fu films. Trust me on that because I have purchased many films over the years. Very good performances from Phillip Ko and Hang Jung Lee.
Fist Of The North Star [UK SE 2-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Making an adaptation of this classic series is almost impossible. Maybe if Peter Jackson, with a huge budget and an actor that has 1/10 of the martial ability of a real Kenshiro, made a trilogy of this 100+ episodes manga, well, maybe we would have something that can rival the series. But we're far from the above. This low budget film is not that bad; but, like I said, the task is almost impossible.
The 7 Grandmasters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of the best independent kung fu film from that period. Very crisp action with solid actors (in kung fu).
