Bio: I have been watching Martial Arts Since 1970. I enjoyed the 42nd street NYC kung fu row from the 70's until they shut it down in the late 80's. When the genre was revived in the early 90's I became an avid fan of of Asian Cinema.

Seven Steps Of Kung Fu (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Classic old school. Good fighting and nice continuous action. I like the villain in this one.
The Magic Blade (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Certainly not "The Flying Guillotine". The plot was above average. I did not like the weapon concept. Too much build-up and not enough to follow. If you can get into this weapon, you may like this more than me.
Boxer From The Temple (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Good slapstick kung fu with exciting action scenes. I enjoyed this lead character. This movie built up nicely from fun to serious, with a solid ending. I would have liked to see more challenging one-on-one fights with villains. There were only two formidable opponents. But this movie will keep your attention.
Young Hero Of Shaolin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Good fighting. Very talented martial artists. The movie did nothing for me. Very slow plot. I know you watch kung fu movies for the fighting, but this movie had nothing else to make me want to sit through it. If you want to see a movie about Fong Sai Yuk then watch Jet Li's part one and two. This was a waste.
Shaolin Intruders (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Excellent fighting. This was kung fu at the end of the old school era. We would have seen more of some of these young stars if the genre had not slowed down in the mid 80's. Most of the Shaw movies I watch now are rewatches. This was seen by me for the first time. It will get a lot of views.
The Brave Archer And His Mate (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure 5 stars on the fighting and almost no stars for the plot. I watched this movie three times in one day to try to figure it out. Too much was squeezed into this. However, still very fun to watch. If you you are a fan of the first three, then don't miss it. It is fun. And I did figure the plot; lots of story telling along the way to help you; that was cool. Don't try too hard on the plot. The action is awesome enough to make for multiple views.
Shiri (product link) Action/Adventure / Romance I see why this was a highly regarded film. Good story, great plot, and lots of action. Absolutely loved it. It is a must-see. Easy choice if you have not seen it.
Fearless Fighters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I wanted to see this because it was one a few movies I missed in the early 70s during that run when "5 Fingers of Death", "Deep Thrust", and "Fist of Fury" were the first three kung fu flicks I saw. I missed this one. It was okay. Just okay. Actually, I remember friends making fun of leaves sticking into the bark of trees and some of the other crazy-insane stuff which defies the laws of physics. Since kung fu has come so far with over the top wire stuff, it was not that bad seeing it 25 years later. It had its entertaining moments, but it was okay. A not-so-bad early 70's flick. Let Buddah's name be praised.
The Machine Girl (product link) Action/Adventure / Girls With Guns I thought it would be a wild, fun, gore-filled ride with non-stop action. It was, and more. I cannot wait to watch this over with friends. I cannot wait for part 2.
Azumi (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I am partial to Hong Kong Cinema. I like classic Shaw stuff, the '90 to '93 kung fu and swordplay stuff, as well as the new stuff. I like "Lone Wolf and Cub" and the "Blind Swordsman", but I absolutely loved this stuff. If you can handle the violence then look out for some really good over-the-top action. Can't wait to watch part 2.

i agree this film is highly entertaining the sequel aint so good though but it's still worth checking out.
Lightning Kung Fu (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not as good as I thought it would be. Okay fighting and okay plot. Still worth watching.
Lion Vs. Lion (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Loved it. Exciting fight scenes. I could watch it over and over. Simple plot and simple movie. But fantastic.
The Flying Guillotine 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not as good as the first one. Almost the same movie. I was disappointed. I wanted this to be much better. It was not.
Stroke Of Death (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Superb hand to hand combat. I think this is a highly under-rated film. This was a very entertaining movie for the casual fan or the expert. Not in my top ten, but still fun stuff.
Life Gamble (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie only gets a 3 stars because I love the characters and the costumes. To see all the essential Shaw characters crammed into one movie is exciting. But the downside is that the plot was almost non-existent or too complicated or disjointed to follow. I was extremely disappointed with the overall piece.
The Flying Guillotine (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Classic. I appreciate knives and swordplay mostly when I think of period pieces. This is a unique piece worthy of collecting. I did not appreciate this when I saw it 15 years ago. But now, having watched most of the Shaw classics, I can say this is a must-watch!
