Classic old skool with Gordon Liu in top form in familiar revenge formula, seeking to avenge his fallen comrades by taking on the white lotus sect and their nasty leader, Pai Mei, played excellently by Lo Lei. Also a great cameo by the graceful and highly skilled Hui Ying Hung, who helps train our hero in her own special way. There are some silly dozy moments with Hui's brother and Gordon which can drag on a bit, but all in all a classic ol' skool epic with high quality kung fu action and plenty of it.

Good modern day cop movie with Donnie Yen taking on the bad guys. Stylishly made film with decent story and high quality action, as you would expect from the "new big boss", Donnie. Could have done with a bit more fighting, but what their is is top notch. All in all a well made enjoyable movie helping cement Donnie's rightful place as the heir to Jet/Jackie/Sammo's throne.

This has everything I like in a kung fu'er: evil bad guys, dedicated heroes, and of course high quality kung fu--and a twist: our heroes, the Five Venoms, have to come back from being crippled in various ways by the bad guys, hence the other title of this movie, "Crippled Avengers". The Venoms are in inspired form in this supieror follow-up to the excellent but unlinked "5 DEADLY VENOMS". The guys really show off their kung fu skills and also their acting skills, with stand-out performances from Lo Meng and Alexander Fu Sheng. All in all one of the greatest kung fu movies of all time, definitely in my all-time top 10. Essential viewing.

Nicely made old skool kung fu'er from legend Gordon Liu. Not one to be taken too seriously, with plenty of laughs and clever comical action sequnces. If you like your kung fu's with a few laughs, then this is as good as it gets. Good entertainment.

Epic old skool kung fu from the Shaw Brothers, with the magnificent Gordon Liu cast as the hero. Usual revenge formula as Gordon plots his comeback after Pai Mei and his army do some bad stuff to Gordon and his family. Beautifully shot, amazing action scenes--mainly with weapons, namley the pole--excellent pace, brilliant performances, nasty bad guys who deserve a good beating, and "pole-ing" and training with some deadly Buddhist monks. Surely the best weapons based movie of all time and possibly the best martial arts movie of any kind, third on my all time list. Epic.

Excellent old skool kung fu'er from the magnificent Sammo and his team, this time with the brilliant Leung Kar-Yan in the lead role. Good story with many twists that keep you guessing thoughout the film. Superb action, as you would expect, with Leung Kar-Yan, Sammo Hung, and lots of other top performers. Better than average plot, superb action scences put this film right up there as one of the best old skoolers. Excellent.
