 | | | | Tempting Heart (see film details) Romance
"Tempting Heart" is a cleverly-told, heartfelt movie that details the first -- and perhaps, best -- love of the director's life. What makes the story so unique is that the director plays herself in the movie. As she works with a screenwriter to develop the script, her tale is told in a series of flashbacks. Gigi Leung plays the director as a teenager, Takeshi Kaneshiro plays the introverted guitarist she falls in love with. Their idyllic relationship is blown apart when the girl's mother discovers that the young couple spent a chaste night in a hotel. Leung and Kaneshiro have wonderful chemistry together and the story, though sentimental, is fresh and free of cliches. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Turn Left, Turn Right (see film details) Romance / Drama
"Turn Left Turn Right" is a fairytale. That's a good thing. I would rate it right up there with "The Princess Bride" as the perfect movie to watch when you're not feeling well. It's about two people who should be together, but for whom fate, circumstance, and the conniving of others, are kept apart. Takeshi Kaneshiro and Gigi Leung play the couple who just keep missing each other, except for one perfect date in a park. As two shy, lonely people, Kaneshiro and Leung are instantly sympathetic, especially when the cartoonishly evil fast food delivery girl and doctor conspire to keep them apart. If you like sappy happy endings, this movie is for you. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Lavender (see film details) Romance / Fantasy
"Lavender" is a sweet, big-hearted movie that only someone with ice water in their veins wouldn't find charming. Takeshi Kaneshiro is at his most adorable as Angel, a real angel who crash lands on Athena's (Kelly Chen) porch and sticks around to help the grief-stricken woman. It's a tall order, though, because Angel needs to love to survive and weepy Athena holds out a lot longer than most women would with an angel who looks like Kaneshiro living in their apartment! Eason Chan is a lot of fun as Athena's gay neighbor. In addition to an appealing cast, "Lavender" has an eclectic, enjoyable movie soundtrack. It's a feel-good movie. Not recommended for cynics! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
