| If you are a fan of such insanely over the top magical kung fu films as "Zu Warriors" or "Web Of Death", then rejoice, for this is without a doubt the most over the top action packed and special effects drenched film of that sub-genre ever to exist.
Set in the martial world, where various magically empowered clans vie for dominance, this film tells the story of a young man who, having been thrown off a cliff by the bastard set to marry his love, is saved by a mystical beast which just happens to be the pet of the master of the Buddha's Palm of the title.
Unwillingly at first, he is drawn into the martial world and having learnt the art proceeds to seek revenge against the warriors who blinded his master and left him for dead years ago.
Suffice it to say, it isn't as simple as all that; and without giving away the plot, he must face music-playing faceless monsters, acid spewing midgets, and the master of the Ten Thousand Swords Clan before he can rest.
Special mention must be made of the fantastic Lo Lieh, who plays the aging Bi Gu, a warrior who anounces his coming in every scene ("Bi Gu of East Island!") and always has time to comment on the situation even in the heat of battle.
If you have ever seen any magical kung fu before and loved it, prepare for the definitive experience. Highly recommended. |
