There's nothing new as far as the Chinese vs. Japanese storyline goes, but this is an action-packed movie that delivers. I must also add that this is one of Wang Yu's better performances outside of the "One Armed Swordsman" flicks. Highly recommended for those that like lots of action. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | You are right about Wang Yu: He was at his best in the One Armed Swordsman films, nearly as good in this, tolerable in the One Armed Boxer films, and much worse in just about everything else. His martial arts are minimal. | Jeffrey Frawley |

The story is very interesting, but the martial arts are nothing spectacular. Chen Kuan-Tai is great, but the movie is too long (~129 minutes) for a film made in the 70's. The end scene is brutal and bloody but just never seems to end. For every good thing about this movie, there is something which knocks it back from being great. In my opinion, this is a good movie, not a great one. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | If one is not impressed by Chen Kuan Tai, the movie is just as you say. I think higher of him than you do, and enjoy the film very much - but it could have been better with a little less filler. | Jeffrey Frawley |

Great movie starring Alexander Fu Sheng as the only person willing to stand up to the thugs in his village. Wang Lung Wei is an awesome villain with help from Leung Kar Yan (Beardy). My only complaint was the director's choice to stop the action in the end fight between Wei and Fu Sheng to flashback to show Fu Sheng training. Highly recommended. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Alexander Fu Shing is one of my favorite martial arts stars, he really excels in this film as the only guy not intimidated by a bunch of thugs. Wang Lung Wei as usual is a great villain, as you stated this is a great film! | Sgt. T |

The action in this movie is very good, but I have to agree with others that complained that the camera angles really hurt this overall. The film is also sped up in most fights, which I didn't feel was necessary considering how fast Donnie is already. Overall, a pretty good film, but not a great one. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | It's disconcerting (and unnecessary, too) when Donnie Yen's moves are speeded up with camera tricks. | Jeffrey Frawley | | Y | The action was great, I agree. | JV47842 |

 | | | | Dragon On Fire [10-Movie Set] (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
Very good movie with tons of action. Great cast with John Liu, Tino Wong, Dragon Lee, Philip Kao Fei and even a small roll for Bolo. The only thing that knocks this down a notch is the low budget feel to it. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree, this film has a cheesy feel to it, however the greatt action sequences more than make up fior it! | Sgt. I don't care who (Hu) directed it, this movie was boring. There was one fight and that was the last scene. That fight was pretty good, which makes this 1 star, but other then that this was 107 minutes of nothing happening. I don't recommend this to anyone. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree. It was so uneventful that it became hard to sit through. I don't recommend this one either. | DW53911 |

 | | | | The Lost Sword Ship (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
This is a pretty solid movie. The action is above average but the story is kinda hard to follow and goes all over the place. I don't know if the "surprise ending" was supposed to be a shocker but I figured it out after watching for twenty minutes. That being said, I still recommend giving this a look. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I thought this was pretty entertaining, I hope the ending was not supposed to be a shocker, I agree it was pretty obvious as to what was happening. That said, I agree with you, this film is worth watching and entertaining. | Sgt. T |

 | | | | Lightning Kung Fu (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
I must agree with the other reviewers in stating that there are no flashy kung fu or acrobatics, but instead we are given an interesting story and solid acting. Chen Kuan Tai is outstanding. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree, Chen Kuan Tai and the supporting cast all give great acting performances! | Sgt. | | | | Drunken Monkey (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
This is a tough one to rate. Lau Kar Leung and Gordon Liu (in a small role) are outstanding and fun to watch. The younger cast mates are trying but this movie just seems to drag too much in the middle to be considered anything more then average. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I'm with you and Mad Monkey on this one. This flick just failed to utilize its full potential. I also agree that t is not total garbage. It does have a degree of charm but it is altogether just so-so. | Bastard Ronin | | Y | I concur. This movie was hailed as the first real martial arts movie of the millennium done in old-school style. It was a huge disappointment. I thought the choreography was lackluster. It should have been great, combining monkey & drunken kung fu. | Mad Monkey |

 | | | | Lady Kung Fu (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
This one starts a litle slow, with a lot of talk about hapkido; but stick with it, because it has some pretty good fight scenes later on. Angela Mao, Carter Wong and Sammo (in a non-comedic role) are all worth watching in this one, although make no mistake about it, Mao is the star of this movie. The Japanese vs. Chinese storyine is really nothing new though. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I thought Mao Ying did a great job headling this movie | Little Dragon Fan |

 | | | | The Secret Rivals (see film details) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
I feel this movie is a bit over-hyped, and I believe the sequel to be much better then the original (I gave the sequel 5 stars)! It takes quite awhile for the action to really start, and some of the scenes starring John Liu and Wong Tao are really cheesy looking. However, Hwang Jang Lee's performance as Silver Fox is awesome; and the final fight scene with Lee, Liu and Tao should not be missed. If you take the time to watch this one, be sure to check out the sequel which, as I stated earlier, is far better and picks up right where this one leaves off. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | While both good movies I would agree the sequel showcases more in terms of action. | Seldomiam |

 | | | | Once Upon A Time In China 3 (see film details) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts
This movie is a considerable drop-off from the first two in the series. The plot shifts more toward the love interest between Jet Li and his cousin (which kinda' creeps me out). There are a couple great action sequences, however, just not as many as in the first two movies. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree with the comment above me. The leon dance has a little too much emphasis put on it for my liking. While in both OUTIC and OUTIC 2 we have epic final showdowns this one felt like an anti-climax. | Shaun Williams | | Y | I think the lion-dance detracts from the impact of the characters. Instead of epic showdowns it's a big brawl. | Seldomiam |
