 | | | | Don't Give A Damn [3-Disc Set] (see film details) Action/Adventure / Comedy
This film was awful. There is no chemistry bewteen any of the characters, not even Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, who normally worked together well on-screen during their heyday. What I find most distasteful about the film, however, is the overt racism shown throughout. I was accustomed to Hung's large-cast, multiehtnic productions like "Millionaire's Express" where stereotyping was rarely done at the expense of the characters, so that when I saw how so much of this film was about putting down people of other races and ethnicities, I was completely turned off. I can't recommend this film less. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I agree 100% | JH15017 |

 | | | | Rob-B-Hood (see film details) Action/Adventure / Comedy
I didn't care for this film--I found it for the most part to be disturbing to watch. The film teters between two emotional extremes: absolutely undirected silliness and melodramatic angst. I think that some of the scenes were intended to show off Jackie Chan's acting abilities...but the attemtps failed miserably. Some of the stunts and gags concerning the baby I found to be unsettling to watch--I think by including a baby as part of his normal stuntfest, Jackie Chan overstepped the boundaries of decency and taste. In general, I felt Rob-B-Hood was a Chan ego trip of the worst kind, full of cardboard performances, recycled stunts, but flavored with an unsettling undertone around the treatement of Baby Matthew. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | N | Very much disagree...the US version was unexpectedly good! I do agree that it was a strange combination of tones and probably couldn't be made this way in the US. But that didn't stop my family and friends from laughing harder than at my usual Chan stuff | AB13687 |
