Flash Point (product link)
Action/Adventure / Martial Arts

This is a great action film. Although there are only two real fights in the film, it never gets boring, and when the fights come they are some of the best ever put on film! Donnie Yen, the star of "Tiger Cage" 1 and 2 and "SPL" shows again he is the man! He uses new mma moves, mixing it with his trademark kicks, also a great gunfight before the end fight between Donnie Yen and former Sammo Hung stuntman Colin Chou ("Matrix Revolutions", "No Problem 2"). The end fight was rumoured tio be better than the alley fight between Yen and Wu Jing ("Invisible Target", "Drunken Monkey"). I was kind of like, "I hope it is but doubt they can match that." Well, they went and proved that they can top that fight! The end fight with Colin Chou is a great 10-minute fight featuring great stunts, kicks and mma. Louis Koo ("Rob-B-Hood", "Bullets Over Summer") is famous for his fake tan and modeling, but he is also a great actor and gives a good balance to Donnie Yen's charecter. The bad guys are great. Apart from Colin Chou you have Ray Liu ("2000 A.D.", "Project A 2"), he plays the eldest of the three brothers; the youngest brother is played by mainland martial arts master Xing Yu ("Kung Fu Hustle", "Fatal Contact"). Xing Yu studied the 12 tam kicks and Shaolin kung fu for ten years! His fight with Donnie Yen is incredible, I just wish it could have been longer! Ray Liu is good as the evil and no conscience guy. The bad guys could have been really two-dimensional, but director Wilson Yip ("SPL", "Dragon Tiger Gate") shows that the bad guys have families of their own and so this really makes the film stronger. Also the love interest with Fan Bing and Louis Koo is done well enough so it doesn't get boring or slow the film down but adds more depth to the film. This is the best action film from Hong Kong for the last five years hands down. Please do yourself a favor and go and buy it! Thanks for reading!

Shaolin Temple 2: Kids From Shaolin (product link)
Martial Arts / Drama

This is without a doubt the best mainland martial arts film I have seen! The end fight is pure wushu hate with all crazy weapons, styles and cool villains. Jet Li ("War", "Once Upon A Time In China") leads the cast of wushu artists in the sequel to the 1982 smash hit "Shaolin Temple". All of the cast return, like Yu Hai who starred in "Martial Arts Of Shaolin" with Lau Kar Leung, and Jet Li. Jet Li I have always liked and here he shows off all his amazing wushu skills and he is a good actor here as well. The story revolves around a Wu Tang family with all girls and a Shaolin family with all boys. The two fight, until they unite against a comon enemy. My plot may not sound great, but trust me it's a good fun story with some awesome fights. Special mention to Hu Jian who is in the other "Shaolin Temple" films: this guy is an awsome martial artist, he pulls of some moves Tony Jaa would think was hard, he's got great kicks and has a great fight against Ji Hua. The end fight is 10 minutes of pure hate, another special mention to Sun Jian who would later fight Jet Li in "Tai Chi Master", also with Michelle Yeoh and Chin Sui Ho. Jet and Sun are involved in a mesmerizing two-on-one three-sectioned staff fight. Please do yourself a favour and buy this awesome movie!

Shaolin Vs. Tai Chi (product link)
Martial Arts / Action/Adventure

I'd read a few reviews for this film saying it was okay or not great, so I kind of hesitated in buying it--and plus it was made by Vengeance Video who are okay, but a lot of the films they release are not the greatest. I finally bought it and I have to say this movie is a sleeper hit: the fights are fast-paced and exciting and all the actors are good. I have to say the film is a bit all over the place with characters suddenly turning up or in the end fight from fighting in a garden to fighting in the woods. The film's main character is played by a wushu guy called Yu Tong who is in "War Of The Shaolin Temple" with Alan Hsu and Ricky Cheng. Also there is another wushu guy called Shao Shan who is in "South Shaolin Master". The bad guy is played by Han Ying ("Incredible Shaolin Thunderkick", "Shaolin Guards Vs. Ninja")--this guy can really kick. The fights are frequent and the end fight is amazing, there is mantis, wushu swordplay and drunken pole all going on. Other faces in the film are Ma Chin Ku who is in countless films with Lee Yi Min and a Robert Tai stuntman and one of the guys with a spear Jackie Chan fights in Fearless Hyena. This film will not disappoint. Go and buy it!

Project A [1983] (product link)
Martial Arts / Comedy

This is probably my favorite martial arts film ever! It stars Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. This was the film that made Jackie Chan, and it's not hard to see why. A mix of great fights, amazing stunts, and a fun story. Jackie performs one of his best stunts: a fall from a three story clock tower. Also the wondeful bike chase is amazing and features some daring stunts. Sammo Hung is also great and delivers great action and comedy--his kick on Dick Wei at the end has to be watched many times! Yuen Biao, who is my faviroute martial arts actor, is amazing as he delivers great kicks and flips. The bad guys are amazing too, we have Dick Wei ("Five Venoms", "My Lucky Stars", "Rosa") as the pirate captain, and he delivers amazing kicks as he was a taekowndo teacher to the Taiwanese army. Lee Hoi San ("Magnificent Butcher", "Descendants Of Wing Chun") dosn't get as much action, but has a good fight with Jackie in the clock tower. Also another taekwondo expert, Kwan Young Moon, plays a pirate and has a short but sweet kicking fight with Yuen Biao. Special mention goes to John Cheung, Mars, Tai Bo, and everyone involved with this amazing film. You have to buy this film!

Boxer From The Temple (product link)
Martial Arts / Action/Adventure

This is a supposed sequel to one of my all-time favorite martial arts films: "Five Superfighters" starring Austin Wai, Tony Leung and the star of this film, Wu Yuen. Wu Yuen went to the same opera school as Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Yuen Tak, etc. The film was directed by Lo Mar, who directed "Five Superfighters" and "Monkey Kung Fu" starring Tony Ching Sui Ting (action director for "Hero" who also starred in "Master Strikes" with Casanova Wong). The film is not full of fights, but there are a few fights and the film never gets boring. Wu Yuen is also a good actor, but he really dazzles when it comes to the kung fu scenes. Other co-stars include a baby Venom, Lau Fong Sai ("Flag Of Iron", "Shaolin Rescuers"), who puts in a great action performance--he also went to the same opera school as Lee I Min, Jack Long, etc. The main bad guy is another baby venom, Kwan Feng ("Shaolin Intruders", "Flag Of Iron"), who was also the main bad guy in "Five Superfighters". The end fight is very gritty and realistic--there are some wicked end moves on show here. A must-buy.

Return Of The 5 Deadly Venoms (product link)
Martial Arts / Action/Adventure

This is hands down one of the best kung fu films i have ever seen! I'm a huge fan of the venoms and this is a gem of their career, all of the venoms get to show off their incredible skills (Lo Meng, Phillip Kwok, Sun Chien, Lu Feng, Chiang Sheng). It starts when the 3 tigers of nam something or other (led by the kickass Dick Wei) cut off a lords sons arms and his wifes legs, the wife dies but the son lives. The lord Tan (Chen Kuan Tai), lord Tan kills the three intruders and then we see his young master (played by the ever evil Lu Feng) who now has iron arms with hidden contraptions. People who even look at his arms funny get punished these unlucky men are a salesmen (Phill Kwok), who has his eyes gouged out, a man called Wang whos just been fired (Sun Chien) he walks into young master and has his legs cut off, blacksmith Wei ( Lo Meng) is made death and dumb and a swordsman trying to avenge them is made into an idiot ( Chiang Sheng), they go off and learn kung fu and come back to the town looking for revenge, The legless man has iron legs and now is a super kicker( Sun Chien was the kicker of the group so it's only right), Lo Meng has mirrors on his arms so he can see behind him and Phillip Kwok learns to inhance his hearing and is a master of the staff. Phillip Kwok, Lu Feng and Chiang Sheng provide the best fight at the end the acrobatic skills of the three is mind blowing the peking opera students are out of this world, Lo Meng is the strong guy and Sun Chien is the excellent kicker and the two really get to strut their stuff in this time less classic from kung fu master Chang Cheh!
