| MAGNOLIA VS. DRAGON DYNASTY (865 views) | AUTHOR / DATE |
| I remember when I first saw this film without English subtitles, I was thinking to myself "Man I hope someone like Dragon Dynasty picks this up and puts out a kick ass version of it for the US market." I've always felt that DD has done a remarkable job in their presentation of classic films.
Well, recently it came to light that Magnolia has acquired the rights to this gem and will be releasing it Stateside in the not too distant future. But there was a poster in another discussion that was pleased with the fact that it was Magnolia and not Dragon Dynasty doing the honors. I'm pleased with what I've seen by each, but never really thought to myself that I'd prefer to see one or the other release a certain title. Anyone care to weigh in on the pros and cons of Magnolia over Dragon Dynasty? | Guano Pig 10/4/2008 9:02 PM |
| #2 | Let’s put it this way Magnolia does an adequate job Dragon Dynasty does an excellent job with their releases so it’s kind of a bummer to know this is how I will get a US release. I already own the movie twice one is the Thai version I bought in Thailand when it came out on DVD and the other is the Malaysian version. Magnolia has a few Thai movies under its belt “Dynamite Warrior” with Dan Chupong “The Bodyguard and The Bodyguard 2” with Petchtai Wongkamlao. To me the pros for a DD release are the more attractive packaging the better special features and commentaries. I was looking forward to an interview with the beautiful star of the movie Yanin “Jeeja” Vismitananda. | Bless01 10/9/2008 7:18 PM |
| #3 | hopefully it will be a 2 disc with DTS and a special features disc with a hour long "making of" documentary. That's what I really want to see. The blooper reel at the end of the malaysia disc was such a tease!!! | YoMama 10/10/2008 3:59 AM |
| #4 | Well, since DD doesn't release Blu-rays, and Magnolia does, I'm pleased with the current situation. | DeathShrike 11/2/2008 10:50 AM |
| #5 | i just finished watching the magnet version of this. i'm sad that it only has a 9 minute making-of, that seems like a TV spot. it doesn't even have the deleted fight scene that's in the trailer. compare it with the 3-disc thai version, or the new UK version coming out. i'll definitely be getting one of those. wow. it will be the 3rd copy i own. | cacomistle 3/13/2009 9:21 PM |
