| JOHNNY TRI NGUYEN THE NEXT FU SUPERSTAR? (466 views) | AUTHOR / DATE |
| I've been reading a bunch of blogs and discussions that have been waying the odds of who the next big martial arts superstar of this generation will be. It seems to be down to Tony Jaa and Jacky Wu Jing. But what about Johnny Tri Nguyen? The man gots the moves and has a good eye for choreography. Let's also not forget that he might be one of the best kickers around right now. Let me hear what you folks think. Holla' back. | Bastard Ronin 9/30/2008 2:09 PM |

| #3 | Johnny has all the tools-Great martial arts skills, acting ability and looks (chicks dig him) I give him a slight edge over Tony Jaa and he speaks english better, which may help him in Hollywood. It's the Bruce Lee type charisma most upcoming action stars lack. Only time will tell. | Little Dragon Fan 10/1/2008 1:32 AM |
| #4 | He speaks better English and has better acting chops than Jaa, but Johnny lacks a certain toughness. He's almost TOO good looking to be a believable badass. *shrugs* | TheDenizen 10/1/2008 8:59 AM |
| #5 | I think it's too early to tell on Nguyen. I think Jaa has two great movies under his belt so he has the early lead as the next big star, but if Ong Bak 2 flops or doesn't end up getting made because of a meltdown by Jaa, all bets are off. I think Wu Jing is the dark horse here because he has the looks and has shown some pretty def moves. | William Giordanella 10/18/2008 5:33 AM |
| #6 | In my mind I had a trio of possible contenders Tony Jaa, Wu Jin and Dan Chupong. Tony has Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong with are very solid movies for a new comer in my opinion. Wu Jin has had some great movies and the man can kick major ass he only needs a movie that will elevate him to heroic status. Fatal Contact was close enough but I need to see him in a movie were it makes me root for him all the way but I don’t know sometimes I think he may get stuck playing the bad guy characters with he plays very good. I really believe that Tony will be massive after Ong Bak 2, Thailand is a big enough country to make the movie a major hit the international box office is just icing on the cake. And seeing that Tony has become something of a national hero of sorts I would not be surprised if he made box office history in Thailand. And finally Dan who started in Born to Fight and Dynamite Warrior with were not that great but to me showed he had some acting abilities apart from his great moves. | #7 | Continue......He has a martial arts fantasy movie coming up called “Queens of Langasuka” with if I am not mistaking I read somewhere will have the biggest budget so far in Thai movie history. I think that movie will elevate him to hero status if the movie turns out to be good. As for Johnny Try Nguyen I reserve my judgment since I have yet to see the “The Rebel” but from the trailer I can’t see why he should be considered. | Bless01 10/18/2008 8:03 PM |
