| Anybody know if the director's commentary is in English, Chinese / Cantonese with English subtitles or just the original language?
Thanks! | MJ63664 4/8/2009 11:00 AM |
| #2 | Click on the box art at the top left of the page and it will take you to the product page. On the right side of the page you will see other versions of the same movie. Click on "Compare" and you will be able to see all versions and exactly what is in what language or if it is English subtitled. I have the 2 disc Thai version and for the trailers, 117 days and the promo material in Thailand and China there are no English subtitles.
You might consider buying the movies even without some of the features being subtitled. It's an excellent film and you will have no problem reading the subs and I think you would enjoy it a lot. | Cinema! 10/20/2009 7:21 PM |
| #3 | Cinema, thanks for a good post. But to answer the original poster's specific question about commentary languages/subtitles, we usually don't have those specifics because they aren't listed on the case and we don't have the manpower to physically check each product. So I'm sorry I can't confirm the commentary language/subtitles for you. If anyone here who owns this on disc would care to chime in, it'd be appreciated. | Choco 10/20/2009 8:55 PM |
| #4 | P.S. OP, you might want to specify which version you're asking about in particular. | Choco 10/20/2009 8:59 PM |
| #5 | Choco, I'm confused. Yes not the first time, probably not the last. Information listed in the comparisons is not necessarily accurate? For example something like - "Making Of" (56 mins., Mandarin w/English Subtitles)is not necessarily right? Sorry not trying to be difficult I just thought the info was verified. It has always been the same when I received the order and I have been very pleased with that.
The reason I sent him to the page was because I wasn't sure what version he wanted. Don't worry from now on I'll stick to my riveting reviews and thought provoking musings. :) | Cinema! 10/20/2009 11:20 PM |
| #6 | Anything listed on our site should be accurate. But they were asking about the commentary, for which we have no specific information in this case, and usually don't. | Choco 10/21/2009 8:22 AM |
| #7 | I don't know whether the commentary on the blu-ray is subtitled, but you should be aware that the listed running time of the film itself is 16-18 minutes shorter than the other versions available through HKFlix. PAL prints are usually sped up very slightly compared to others, probably accounting for 3 or 4 minutes at the most. This (I think) is not PAL, anyway. Under any circumstances, this appears to be edited, although I have no idea in which sections. I'll stick with my Thai SE 2-Disc DVD. I don't remember whether the making of documentary is subtitled - but suspect it is not - and do not see director commentary claimed on any version. | Jeffrey Frawley 10/21/2009 12:18 PM |
