THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRD... SO WHAT'D YOU ALL THINK? (382 views)AUTHOR /

I watched it last night and thought it was an excellent film. It's easy to say it isn't quite the masterpiece that "A Bittersweet Life" or "A Tale Of Two Sisters' are... but then again, maybe it is. After all, it never pretends to be anything other than an exciting, spectacular popcorn film - and, like "Raiders of the Lost Ark," I think it works wonderfully at that level.

The Korean DVD features two different cuts of the film – I watched the longer, Korean cut, but scanned through the International version to see what the differences are. Personally, I think the international version works better (certainly the end does).

#3 The characters wind up the same, but the ending is much more drawn out on the Korean version. The other major difference I noticed is that there's more business in the whorehouse (...hmm, that doesn't sound quite like I meant it!). Again, I think that the shorter edits improve the film in both cases. PGW

#5 I was actually thinking of making this topic myself. Glad I found yours.

Personally, I can't get enough of this movie. I contend that this is the most visually dynamic film of last year. The film, by itself, is great. The story is fun. The action is some of the best and most well-choreographed I've seen in quite a while. The homage to the western is done very faithfully while still embracing the Asian style.

But I can't get away from the visual style. One of the several times I've watched this since I got it was with a group of my friends (all film industry professionals).I can't tell you how many times we stopped it to go back and try and figure out how particular shots were pulled off. Some of what was done technically with the cinematography and camerawork was truly genius. We all loved it.

I can honestly say I've never seen another film like it-and that's a good thing.

Bottom line-o not miss this movie if you like Asian action films with guns.
