WERE THERE ANY GOOD SCENES TO REDEEM THE MOVIE? (345 views)AUTHOR /

Okay most people do not seem to like this movie much and that includes me! Are there any good fights or scenes? And what about the "x - ray effect"? Personally I thought was ridiculous. Cinema!

#2 I've managed to successfully block the memory of this film from my brain. I saw it years ago, but couldn't tell you anything about it other than "it sucks".TheDenizen

#3 This film is bad. The funny thing about the x-ray bit, was that old school kung fu movies used that same effect... I believe it was a Bruce Le movie or something. I don't like hip hop in movies. Period.City On Fire

#4 The x-ray bit was originally used in Sonny Chiba's first Street Fighter movie.TheDenizen

#5 I agree about the horribleness of hip-hop in movies. That is the main reason the American release of Jet Li's "Black Mask" was so horrible, aside from the crappy dubbing. The hip-hop soundtrack they added was absolutely terrible.MS10197

#6 Denizen could you share your secret for blocking films from taking up house in your brain?

I don't remember seeing x - rays before.

BTW Forgive me all I have not seen a Sony Chiba film, is that in any way connected to "The Legend Of Li Chun" movie?

#7 There is a scene in Chiba's Street Fighter where he jumps up and punches a guy on the top of the head, and it does this quick cut to an x-ray shot of a skull being crushed. The shot has since been replicated in a few films.

As for my magical ability to forget crappy movies, it's called "getting older". I can barely remember where I was last week, let alone the details of a bad flick I saw years ago. :P

#8 I didn't like x-ray feature, however I thought the movie was ok. Was this the first european/hong kong movie feature?DarkHumour

#9 DarkHumour I didn't like the x - ray effect either. Technically Jet's first non HK movie was "Lethal Weapon 4" Jet did not speak a word of English! Jet supposedly did the piece to gain exposure and he is a fan of the "Lethal Weapon" series. If that is true IMO he must have been whacked in the head one too many times. I just can't stand Glover and Gibson and in "4" they end up calling a suspect racist asian crap that made me sick and I FF until I saw Jet when they kill him. Kill Jet? HA HA!"Romeo Must Die" next,"The One", and "The Kiss Of The Dragon" The order may not be chronological because some movies sit on shelves before being released,an action I oppose! For instance the absolutely fantastic "Danny the Dog" (Unleashed) was made in 2003 but was not available until 2005! But the movies get better after "Romeo" so if you liked it you will definitely will like the others, especially "Danny The Dog"! Cinema!

Do you really think that's what at least partially made Black Mask horrible? Should I watch the "real" version and give it another chance? Thanks :)

#11 OK, there is something sentimental about this film for me that I enjoy. That would be Russell Wong as the antagonist in the film.

See, when I was a wee lad back in the day I used to look forward all week to USA's Action Pack. There was nothing more awesome on TV than watching Kevin Sorbo as Hercules (especially when Bruce Campbell or Ted Raimi made a cameo) and following it up with Vanishing Son starring Russell Wong as a modern-day Cain.

Yes, it was pure cheese and guilty-pleasure TV. When you're young what isn't, though.

For me, seeing him back doing his Kung Fu thing was a lot of fun for me and I still enjoy it to this day despite the overall quality of the film.

#12 Well I try to look for the positive in life and at least one person experienced a good feeling!Cinema!

#13 Garvinstomp you're definitely right about Bruce Campbell. Ted Raimi always livened things up too. I was impressed with the episode where they can't find Kevin Sorbo and I distinctly remember LMAO as the director pretended he was Kevin Sorbo! And the scene when the guys are in the bathroom doing what you do in a bathroom while humming the series theme. Of course I didn't really watch such things, just happened to have the tv on or something, not like I watched it a lot or was a fan, and I was really young and I don't watch TV, stopped years ago(honest)and now it's just a monitor for dvd's....and I think I only made a couple of tapes......Cinema!

#14 Hey man, I'm with you. I don't really own all the Hercules seasons with the 4 launch movies on DVD. I think someone mixed them in with my stuff when I moved. I mean, the only reason I frequently watch them is because, you know, they're just convenient and good stuff to fall asleep to since they're so lame they put me to sleep after 2 or 5 episodes or something like that. Yeah, that's it.Garvinstomp
