I haven't seen this movie in particular, but I mostly enjoy the wire-flying (when it is used) in wuxia movies. They are basically fantasy stories about larger-than-life heroes with martial arts mastery that borders on magical. A bit of flying doesn't detract from the experience.
That being said, no amount of flashy wirework can save a bad wuxia movie.
If a film sticks to its own world-logic –or suspends disbelief well enough- then flying is just fine. It’s all context and expectation. Flying is a super hero film is status quo for western audiences. I remember seeing "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" in a theater and laughter rippled through the audience when the characters first took flight. I really wanted to explain to the audience what wuxia meant and why they were all ignorant savages but I resisted (as I think it is impolite to talk during movies).
