 EXPECTED MORE FROM THIS ONE ? (291 views)AUTHOR /

With its Super Cool cover, juicy trailers, and staring HK latest Kung fu superstar Jacky Wu Jing. "Legendary Assassin" was pretty lame. Compared to his recent Pictures "Invisible Target", "Fatal Move", "SPL" and etc.. This film was a below average B-movie. I guess it's what your supposed to get from a first time director . What did you think about it?Black Dragon

#2 I can't agree with you more! I have been watching Wu Jings career progress with eager anticipation. I thought he was amazing in the Tai Chi TV series, he was great in SPL and I thought there were moments of action brilliance in Fatal Contact and Fatal Move....though both stories for those movies were HORRIBLE. As a movie Legendary Assassin is probably better than the two Fatal movies but the action was a huge let down...especially considering Nicki Li and Wu Jing were at the center of the later 3 movies. Also worth mentioning is that I have been waiting for Nicki Li to kind of have a breakthrough movie as well. He has had a growing hand in the choreography for all of Jackie Chan's movies for the last 10-15 years as well as a lot of other action martial arts movies that as well had moments of great martial arts action.

On the brighter side at least Ip Man didn't disappoint!!

#3 It pains me to agree with you both on this one. LA had a very high spot on my 'most anticipated' list from the moment I heard about it. Like the others, after watching SPL more times than I can count I was expecting something decent. But this film could not have been more average.

I'm not one to need a strong story to enjoy an action film. But this story was so weak it was painful. Watching the forced exposition of all these additional characters that had no real part in the overall story was painful. The "jealous policeman" added exactly nothing to the movie. Those police station scenes lasted forever.

The opening fight scene was decent, but not really very good for an assassin. Hardly legendary. The second was probably the most creative with the thugs at the restaurant. But the fight was with people that had very little to do with the movie, so it felt tacked-on a bit. The final scene was abysmal. It was pretty much just kick-kick-kick-kick.
