| CONFUSION CONCERNING LO LIEH'S ROLE IN THIS FILM. (445 views) | AUTHOR / DATE |
| There seems to be much confusion as to who exactly Lo Lieh plays in this film. Multiple reviewers have stated that he plays Pai Mei, as he did in Executioners from Shaolin. However, in this film, Pai Mei, or Pak Mei (it is the same name) as he is clearly called if you listen to the Cantonese soundtrack, is played by Wilson Tong in this film, not Lo Lieh. Pak Mei is killed in the very beginning of the film, thus this film is really more of a sequel to "Executioners from Shaolin" rather than a remake.
Multiple sources, including Wikipedia, have erroneously stated that Lo Lieh plays Pai Mei in this film. Lo Lieh merely plays Priest White Lotus, not Priest White Eyebrows (Pak Mei literally means White Eyebrows).

| #3 | You are correct, but no big shock that wikipedia has some dodgy info on an old Kung Fu movie. Given that most movie reviewers, especially online, tend to treat wiki like the Bible, is it any surprise that misinformation has spread? | TheDenizen 12/30/2008 11:19 AM |
| #4 | Yeah, Lo Lieh plays his brother in White Lotus. Basically, both films take place in some kind of parallel Universe... I guess Shaolin Executioners was so successful, they just had to cash in on the whole Pai Mei (or variation of)... | City On Fire 12/31/2008 3:24 AM |
| #5 | I thought FotWL was an excellent film, but it occurred to me that it could never be treated as a direct sequel to SE: In Shaolin Executioners Hung Gar is created and mastered by Hung Wending and used to kill Pai Mei; In Fist of the White Lotus it is created (for the first time, apparently) by Hung Wending years after the killing of Pai Mei. I like the first film better, but they are both excellent. | Jeffrey Frawley 12/31/2008 9:35 AM |
