The Hot, The Cool And The Vicious [DOUBLE FEATURE 1] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Very entertaining film starring Don Wong Tao and Tan Tao Liang. One of the better 2 on 1 fight sequences for its time. The campy performance by Tommy Lee as a hunchbacked villain is hilarious and makes getting this film worth the action and laughs.

I thought it was funny when Tan punch a chick in the face. It looked Looney Toonish. Otherwise this film is worthless.
I'm almost embarrassed that I liked this as much as I did. Tan Tao Liang is not a talented actor, but his legwork is very fine. Don Wong Tao is nearly as good a fighter, and a much better actor. It's very good cheese.
Sgt T, you and I agree on about 99% of the movies we've reviewed and once again I agree with you. My only complaint was that I wish Tommy Lee was in the movie more because I thought he played a great villain.
Return Of The 5 Deadly Venoms (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure For me this was one of the better films done by the Venom gang (a name these characters have been affectionately called by fans and distributors). What sets this film apart from various others done by the venoms is the great performance by Chen Kuan Te as the villain. His villainous portrayal using Tiger Boxing is one not to be missed!

Chen Kuan Te did make this movie very watchable. You know, I learn something new everytime I read one of your reviews. I think Dragon Dynasty should hire you.
Seven Swords (product link) Martial Arts / Swordplay/Sword(s) Outstanding cinematography adds to the great special effects and martial arts choreography in this film. Li Chia Liang is at his best leading seven swordsman in defending a helpless village from ruthless killers employed by the emperor. This is a fresh take on a familiar theme, reminiscent of Japan's Seven Samurai and the American western version, the Magnificent Seven. Look for Donnie Yen with an attitude as one of the seven.

Yes and no-Great cinematography but could of been better with more Donnie Yen battles
The New One-Armed Swordsman [3-Movie Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I love the classic Shaw Brothers movies, and this is one of my all time favorites. We have the classic sets, cheesy effects for seventies films, and of course the bad dialogue, which to me is outstanding. Shaw favorites Ti Lung and David Chiang turn in one of their best performances as director Chang Cheh updates the One Armed Swordsman legend perfected by Jimmy Wang Yu. What makes this film so spectacular is the villainous portrayal by Ku Feng, wielder of the Triple Irons, which is also the name given to this film for its American release.
Duel Of The Iron Fist (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Shaw Brothers favorites Ti Lung and David Chiang give an excellent performance in this story of gangsters and betrayal. There are a lot of great fighting sequences and action combined with great acting. I consider this film a cult favorite and classic. It was released to American audiences during the " karate movie craze of the early seventies ". Ti Lung will always be remembered for the butter fly tattoo he has emblazoned on his chest.
The Shaolin Avengers [1976] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of the best films chronicling the life of legendary Chinese folk hero Fong-Sai Yuk. No actor portrays Fong-Sai Yuk better than Alexander Fu Sheng. Fu Sheng is at his best here with superb martial arts action from beginning to end which culminates in his fight with the head of the White Lotus Clan.
The Tai Chi Master [1993] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A great team-up of Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. The [original language] version is excellent, I like it better than the English language version dubbed with the title "Twin Warriors". Why? Because there are some scenes that were edited out of the Americanized version that were quite hilarious!
Showdown At The Cotton Mill (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie is highlighted at the end by an excellent fight scene between Chi Kuan Chun of Shaw Brothers fame and kick master Tan Tao Liang. It is worth it for this fight alone!
David Chiang / Ti Lung Bundle [3-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Chang Cheh's famous duo fights their way through the Water Margin, its sequel All Men Are Brothers, and the compelling Savage Five. All films were very entertaining especially the Savage Five.
Prodigal Boxer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A very good old school feature on the adventures of Fong Sai Yuk as portrayed by Meng Fei. Look for an excellent performance from Yasuaki Kurata from Fist Of Legend Fame as the bad guy.
The One Armed Boxer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Outstanding old school action as Jimmy Wang Yu begins the One Armed Boxer saga. Wang Yu is originally known as the first and most popular One Armed Swordsman. In this feature look for Jimmy to fight against various martial arts styles. Lung Fei is particularly outstanding as a villainous Japanese karate expert.
Five Superfighters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure An early Shaw Brothers classic, pitting the kung fu corrector called the specialist against a teacher and his three students. The teacher and students must learn new styles from different sources in order to defeat the specialist.

This seemed to get excellent results on a very small budget. Most of the training scenes were effective, and the ending was a good payoff.
Vamps [4-Movie Set] (product link) Horror / Erotica A couple of these vampire flicks are worth watching. The acting and special effects are not the greatest, but they are still fun if you like vampires.
Boss Nigger (product link) Western / Action/Adventure Fred Williamson is at his best in this blaxploitation western as a black sheriff in a prejudiced town. D'Urville Martin gives a great comic performance as Williamson's Deputy.
Erotic Ghost Story (product link) Erotica / Ghost Good special effects and a good story about three sister spirits who each fall in love with the same man. A bizarre plot twist leads to a demon-filled grand finale.
Lady Kung Fu (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of Angela Mao Ying's better films, with good supporting roles from Sammo Hung and Carter Wong. Our heroes use their newly learned skills in Hapkido to deal with a harsh Japanese occupation force in Korea.

i agree i think this film is a must for all kung fu junkies.
Savage Killers (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Good performances by Jimmy Wang Yu and Lau Kar Wing as they fight villain supreme Lung Fei.
The Man From Hong Kong (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Jimmy Wang Yu plays a Chinese police inspector taking on Australian drug lord and one-time James Bond, George Lazenby. Great action and a cameo by Sammo Hung makes for fun-filled watching.
Furious Slaughter (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure An excellent film from early Shaw Brothers Legend Jimmy Wang Yu. Jimmy portrays Ma Yung Cheng as he battles the local thugs dubbed the axe-gang. Lots of kung fu action in Jimmy's own stand alone street boxing style. Initially this film was released to American audiences as "Super Dragon" during the seventies kung fu craze. There was also a sequel made in which Jimmy's sister, portrayed by Nancy Yen, finds her brother and helps battle against the infamous axe-gang in the aptly titled "Ma Su Chen".
Grand Master Of Death (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Shaw Brothers star Alexander Fu Sheng in an outstanding performance as he stands alone in a town afraid of the local gang. Shaw Brothers all-time villain Johnny Wang Lung Wei is the tough-as-nails leader of the gang, while Leung Kar Yan stars as his right-hand man. To Fu Sheng's dismay, the townspeople cowed by the gangsters always blame him for making trouble for them as he helps people. Learning new skills from a Shaolin monk, Fu Sheng defeats the gang, but at a terrible price.
My Young Auntie (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy A great kung fu comedy with lots of action and antics. Kara Hui Ying-Hung gives an outstanding performance as a widow and aunt of the great La Kar Leung by marriage, trying to keep the family fortune from villain supreme Johnny Wang Lung wei. Wang Lung Wei portrays Kara Hui's dead husband's greedy brother. Kara Hui is a veteran actress of many Shaw Brother movies but she finally displays her martial arts skill in a lead role, remniscient of Angela Mao Ying. It goes with out saying that La Kar Leung displays his excellent skills from directing to acting as Kara Hui's grand nephew.

I really loved the opening form by Lau Kar Leung-the real deal!
Drunken Master 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Jackie Chan is outstanding in his portrayal of legendary Chinese Folk Hero Wong Fei Hung. This film has it all, great acting, great cinematography, great musical score, and of course great fight sequences directed by Shaw Brothers legend Liu Chia Liang. Ti Lung and the late beautiful Anita Mui Yim Fong turn in superb performances as Jackie's parents. Their performances are a great blend of seriousness and comedic spice that add to the flavor of an excellent movie.
Shanghai Affairs (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The stars of "Iron Monkey" return as Donnie Yen and Yu Rong Guang square off once again. This time Donnie is a doctor settling in a poor town, to take care of the needy villagers using his medical skills learned in the West. Unfortunately Yu Rong Guang and his axe gang want the village's land for a casino project. Also Throw in the fact that Yu Rong Guang's sister portrayed by the lovely Athena Chu, falls in love with Donnie after he restores her ability to speak. All this culminates into great martial arts action with an explosive end match between Donnie and Yu Rong Guang.
Men From The Monastery (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I believe this is the very first film in which Alexander Fu Sheng portrays folk legend Fong Sia Yuk. Fu Sheng is joined by Shaw Brothers favorite Chen Kuan Tai as the legendary Hung Hsi Kuan, and the always under rated Chi Kuan Chun starring as Hu Hui Chien. Director Chang Cheh does a masterful job in showing how the three became loyal Ming patriots each in a seperate sequence. Then he brings them together to fight the hated Manchus (Ching Government) in an action packed fight to the finish. Any lover of martial arts films would appreciate this classic.
Shaolin Temple [1976] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure An outstanding Chang Cheh directed feature on the destruction of the Shaolin Temple by the Manchu government, and the measures taken to ensure the survival of Shaolin fighting techniques. This feature has an all-star Shaw Brothers cast, headlined by Alexander Fu Shing as Fong Sai Yuk, and Chi Kuan Chun as Hu Hui Chen--two roles these actors portrayed previously in the films "Shaolin Avengers" and "Men From The Monastery". Look for Shaw greats Ti Lung and David Chiang as Ming soldiers hiding and learning at Shaolin. As if they were not enough, look for appearances from some of the Venom Gang, including a great performance by Kuo Chui (aka Phillip Kwok). All in all, a true Chang Cheh extravaganza!
The Boxer From Shantung (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure An excellent film chronicling the rise and fall of Ma Yung Cheng from pauper to would-be crime boss. A young Chen Kuan Tai delivers a great performance showcasing good martial arts skill. David Chiang has a good supporting role as a crime boss with timely advice that Ma comes to admire and respect. The moral of the movie is crime does not pay which leads to a tragic ending with an outstanding fight finale.
Invincible Pole Fighter (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Stellar performances from Gordon Liu and Alexander Fu Sheng. Great choreography and direction from Liu Chia Liang. The story can get a little confusing about the down fall of the Yang clan, by a treacherous family seeking to gain more favor from the emperor. After a great opening scene in which all the males of the Yang clan are killed except for Fu sheng, and Gordon Liu, we then begin our tale of revenge. Fu Sheng in his last film performance has apparently been driven mad by the deaths of his father and brothers. Mean while Gordon Liu retreats to Shaolin temple where he improves his pole fighting skills and ultimately gets revenge for the family. This film is a must have for Gordon Liu fans!
Vengeance [1970] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This film was not what I expected, but it was entertaining. This is a pure revenge movie as David Chiang avenges his brother Ti Lung's death at the hands of some unscrupulous individuals, for the sole purpose of taking his wife. Chiang gets his vengeance but at a costly price. Look for an appearance by the great Chen Sing as a hit man hired to kill Chiang.
Five Deadly Venoms (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure "The Five Deadly Venoms" is one of the most influential cult films of the seventies, and it introduced us to an outstanding group of martial artists affectionately dubbed the Venoms. The Venoms went on to make numerous films, some better and some worse than this feature. However, this is the film that introduced the Venoms to Western audiences. This is a must-see for any martial arts film lover.
Four Riders (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Very entertaining film with four of the actors from "The Savage Five". Yasuaki Kurata gives an excellent portrayal as the villain our four heroes go up against. Throw in the great cinematography, and you have a must-see thriller!
Rage Of The Masters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure An old bloody revenge flick brought to you by the deadly hands of Jimmy Wang Yu. The singular plotline seems to be revenge drenched in blood. A must-see for Wang Yu fans!
The Return Of Master Killer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A very entertaining sequel to "The 36th Chamber" starring Gordon Liu. In this feature Gordon Liu pretends to be the character he portrayed in the first film, in order to scare the Manchus bullying the workers at a dye factory. Later as the ruse is discovered, Liu goes to Shaolin Temple and learns kung-fu through unconventional means. He returns to battle the Manchus and super villain Johnny Wang Lung Wai!
The Martial Club (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A sequel that is just as good as if not better than the original. Here is Gordon Liu's second portrayal of Wong Fei Hung after establishing himself as the character in "Challenge Of The Masters". Though I am biased towards the original as a childhood favorite, this is the better of the two films. Look for Johnny Wang Lung Wei in a rare appearance where he is not a villain. Also the climactic fight in the shrinking alley is one of the best I have seen!
Shaolin Mantis (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of my favorite David Chiang movies as he creates mantis fist. This is the result of an unwilling undercover mission to capture Ming rebels for the Manchu Government. The fight sequences are outstanding as Chiang goes up against the great Li Chia Yung and his family. This film is very engrossing with a great plot but a tragic ending. Look for a Gordon Liu cameo appearance as a Mongul Warrior at the films begining.
The Deadly Duo (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not a bad actioneer starring the screen team of David Chiang and Ti Lung as they try to free a Prince of the Sung Dynasty from the evil Monguls. The chief opposition is from Guk Fung and his colorful henchmen led by Bolo Yeung. Look for Chan Sing as the Mongul Prince who wants the Sung Prince under wraps for good!

I applaud Sgt. T's notice that it is the Sung Dynasty, rather than the Yuan, that is being threatened by the Mongols. In fact, the Mongols (who did prevail - despite the heroism in this drama) became the Yuan Dynasty.
Lady Whirlwind (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is an Angela Mao Ying Classic. Released in the West under the title "Deep Thrust", this film--along with "Hapkido"--helped put Mao Ying in the hearts and minds of seventies kung fu fans. Mao Ying is tough as nails through this whole film. Look for appearances from villain supreme Chang Yi, portraying a good guy, and an over the top performance by Sammo Hung as a henchman!
Heroes Two (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I always enjoy a good Shaw Brothers movie starring one of my favorite actors, the late Alexander Fu Sheng. Fu sheng's action sequences are superb as he once again portrays folk legend Fong Sai Yuk. Look for Shaw legend Chen Kuan Tai also in this film, once again portraying Hung Hsi Kuan. Together this dynamite pair take on the oppressive Manchus!
The Treasure Hunters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Outstanding action and fight choreography by Lau Kar Wing, who also stars as an antique dealer. Alexander Fu Sheng and Cheung Chin Pang are a great team. Not all the comedy gags work, but enough do for a fun film. Gordon Liu and Johnny Wang are good as usual, but who really steals the show is the beautiful and talented Yeung Jing Jing, wielding her twin swords!
