Shaolin Vs. Evil Dead (product link) Martial Arts / Horror Not worth the money. It's a feature length movie, yes, but it's only half of a movie and the other half seems to look a lot better. Few fights and what there is isn't that good. Nothing special at all. Gordon Liu usually has amazing stuff but this is a bomb.
Dragon Fight (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie is one of Jet's worst movies, action-wise. He turns in the usual performance, but Stephen Chow is the scene-stealer in this one. There is a reason this one didn't make it to DVD right away. The fights are VERY SLOW! This is just one of those movies that could've been real enjoyable if the fights were good, but it sufferes from the poor quality of the fights.
Taxi 3 (product link) Action/Adventure / Comedy Least favorite in the trilogy. Still fun but it feels like we've been here before. Not bad for a third effort, but not of the caliber of the first two in my opinion.
Taxi 2 (product link) Action/Adventure / Comedy A little recycling here but it still keeps the fun, super entertaining atmosphere of the first movie. Really well done sequel.
Police Story 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Doesn't recycle the first movie like I expected. The old bad guys are back for a really good fight sequence and the finale is really good and shows off some other actor's talents--man that little guy can kick. Second best in the series after number one.
Taxi [1998] (product link) Action/Adventure / Comedy Great movie. Nice, easy to follow plot, good and likeable characters and actors, and a great soundtrack make this one a very entertaining, fun ride. Just sit down and strap in. Highly recommended.
The Buddhist Fist (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I had regrets about spending the money on the DVD before it arrived because [the version I bought had] no subs, a poor dub, and no actors I had ever heard of, except I recognized Woo Ping's dad in the beginning. I was completely wrong. The fights are damn good. The final showdown has to be seen to be believed--awesome choreography in the fights.
Contour (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Great flick. The low budget takes away from the overall film but adds a bit of charm. The movie is funny and action packed. The fights are QUALITY. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys martial arts movies.
Odd Couple (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy One word: wow. The weapons fights in here are simply jaw-dropping. Both stars show that they are at the top of their game as they each master the staff and the sword. Highly recommended.
Drunken Master 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A simply awesome movie--one of Jackie's greatest. I own both the American dubbed, edited version [and the original version], and [the original] is ten times better.
Police Story (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Jackie made the kung fu cop genere with this one. Fantastic fights and a super awesome finale make this one of his best.
Danny The Dog (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Amazing movie. Hard, brutal fights, great acting, and characters you really care about make this not only of the best martial arts movies out in recent memory but one of the best movies period in recent memory. Highly recommended to everyone.
Pedicab Driver (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy This is a true gem of a movie! The plot is good, the acting is top knotch, the comedy is funny, and Sammo Hung's coreography is in top form. From the opening brawl to the end showdown, this is a fantastic movie. Sammo's coreography is fast paced and brutal to watch. This needs to be in any self-respecting kung-fu fan's collection.
