Incredible Kung Fu Mission (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure John Liu is in fine form for this "Dirty Dozen"-style kung fu film. He is hired to take a rag tag bunch of misfits and whip them into shape for a rescue mission from a nearly impregnable fortress. Along the way the group runs into a lot of fights and humorous situations. The end battle at the fortress is great. The movie contains a strange looking villain who is strange and menacing and also has special powers.
Hit Man In The Hand Of Buddha [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A nice old school flick featuring lots of great kicking from Hwang Jang Lee (who also directed the movie). The film has a great opening sequence where Hwang takes out several combatants which is easily worth the price of admission. The plot is a typical revenge scenario, and includes other recurring themes of the genre: drunken old bum kung fu master, rag tag bunch of orphans, competing rice factories, Tito Wong, rape scene, drownings, training sequences, monks, Shaolin Temple... The cool thing is that Hwang plays a good guy and has no mustache. Recommended.
The Invincible Armour (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure "The Invincible Armour" is a classic. It is a must-have if you consider yourself even a casual martial arts fan.
John Liu, Hwang Jang Lee, and Tino Wong all give excellent performances. The fights, costumes, plot all work together in this masterpiece.
This film is also very funny. I don't generally like kung fu comedies, but this has just the right amount.
