Shaolin Vs. Lama (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of my favorite Alexander Lo Rei movies. Very low budget, but don't let that stop you from seeing it. Chen Shan as usual plays a great villain role. Classic old school flick with plenty of great fights to please anyone.
The Thundering Mantis (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Crazy old school flick that only Leung Kar-Yan could pull off. Nothing too original as far as the story, but a very bizarre ending and that's what made the movie so damn awesome.
Chin Yuet Sang does a good job as playing the old master who teaches the Mantis Fist. The little kid who stars in this can be a little annoying at times but is still amazing with the type of talent he shows off.
Just an overall fun old school flick to enjoy. Great fights and an ending that sets it off. A must-see for Beardy fans.

Shaolin Prince (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Seeing this for the first time, it already tops my list as one of my favorite Shaw Brother flicks.
It boasts a solid cast and is a must-see for Ti Lung fans. I found the wirework to be very effective, working well within the context of the fights. It doesn't become so over the top that it takes away from the fights. Compared to a lot of other early films that started using wirework, I found the wirework in this to be much better.
There's so much else to like about the movie with all that they pack into it: the 18-man Lohan array, great weapons, and very creative ending fight. It's well worth getting just for the fights alone, of which there are plenty.

I gave it 4.5 stars, but it is a terrifically entertaining film.
Incredible Kung Fu Mission (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure It doesn't get much better than this classic old school flick. Loads of great fight scenes, and John Liu's kicking skills are on full display. Compared to other John Liu movies, his character is a bit more serious in this when he trains the five men. It's got some comedy bits at the start, which is something you expect but doesn't bring the movie down much. After the training scenes the movie picks up right away with lots of great fights.
Robert Tai makes a great lead villain no matter how odd he looks. Good twist at the end too. Highly recommended.
The Invincible Armour (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure You can't go wrong with the cast. Ng See Yuen usually puts together a dream cast and "Invincible Armour" is no exception. Plenty of great fights, my favorite being the spear fight at the end. Good production value as far as the costumes, story, locations, and some great music. Lots of other classic scenes (the egg scene) just make it a classic. Don't pass this up.
The Bare Footed Kid (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I really disliked Aaron Kwok in this, just his acting in general. He puts on a good show towards the ending, but too much drama and other things drag it down. Ti Lung also took a back seat--while he has plenty of scenes and plays his character well, very little has to do with fighting. The ending still makes up for some of it, but I still wish Ti Lung was used more. Just don't expect fights scene after scene and more of a slower-paced film.

I agree with the 3 star rating, although I don't think it was Kwok that hurt this film, I think it was the overall storyline. A better story and more Ti Lung would have definitely helped.
Two Great Cavaliers (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I expected more from this just from the great cast it had. It picks up a bit halfway into the film when the fights become better, too many scenes at the start that take place in the dark.
John Liu and Angela Mao are the main reasons to watch this but they have plenty of better films out there. If you have seen most of the other stuff and are a fan of either of them, then it's worth a watch.
Five Superfighters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Excellent movie. There is nothing but fight scene after scene, and it's all mixed up with a lot of different styles of fighting. There really isn't any story at all, which is all set up within the first ten minutes of the movie. After that it's just fights and more fights. Nothing wrong with all the fights, since each one is solid and there's a great ending fight scene. A great movie to add to any martial arts collection.

The variety and skill of fighting is nearly 5 stasr; The production values are less than 3 stars: 4 stars is about right for the whole.
Dance Of The Drunk Mantis (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not as good as the original Drunken Master but it still features plenty of great fight scenes that any Wo Ping fan will enjoy. Great cast and some good slap stick humor. Worth a look for fans of the Drunken Master.

Audition (product link) Horror / Art The movie gets off to a slow start, but it also never becomes boring to watch. Anyone looking to get into Japanese gore films, this would be a good place to start.
It can be strange or creepy at times, but it's the ending that makes the movie what is. Check it out!

I couldn't really consider this to be a "gore" film but this film is excellent example of great Japanese cinema.
The Descent (product link) Horror / Thriller A true gem of a movie, its got everything you would want to make it a great horror movie. Great prodcution vaules and some nice camera work since its mostly filmed inside a cave. With it being filmed in a cave it makes the movie even more frantic and good tension. For it being an all women the acting is pretty good and they spend a good amount of time on all the characters in the movie.
Movie does start off alittle bit slow but it helps build the characters up and the second half of film makes up for the slow start.
Highly recommand this movie!!! Get it as soon as you can.

Saw this awhile back ago and I was hyped to see it being that Donnie Yen was the choreography. It was a bit of a let down there's not a whole lot of fighting in it most of it is sword play which isn't bad but there's only one good scene that takes place near the middle that's worth watching it.
Choreography is nothing new you see a lot of the same moves they could have mixed it up more.
The story itself was alright but the ending wasn't great I didn't know why they would end it like that. Makes you think that's the best ending they could come up with? It doesn't even end like an ending should. I would have rated it higher if the ending was better.
Good transfer on to the DVD all the colors look well like a DVD should. They got some great camera work like at the start of the film just the tone of light that was used. Also the settings that were filmed mix well with the movie there's a few different locations that look nice.
Id rent this before buying should be easy to spot a most rental stores. The choreography could have been worked on more and with a better ending it this could have been a better movie.
I've seen lot of Donnie Yen flicks this is one of his weaker films that he's worked on but not his worst.

5 Venoms vs. Wu Tang [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Ghost This probably the worst of the Venoms movies I've seen. The so-called zombies/vampries in them jump around looks really dumb. I won't blame for the effects because of how old this movie was. It has one good fight scene in it; the rest are very bad and slow-paced, and there are few fights in them.

"Venom Warrior," which is the other film of this double feature, may be even worse, but this is pretty bad.
Invincible Pole Fighter (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is Gordon Liu at his best. Highly recommand this movie. There is a few slow scenes but it seems like there is in almost every Gordon Liu film. But that didnt stop this from being a great film.
Some huge battle scenes I love that in kung fu movies and this did it for me. One scene Woo Ping has a cameo in it and takes on about 50 people while Gordon Liu flees. Its an amazing fight scene so much going on.
Same with the end its very creative what they do with a dozen coffins stacked up on top of each other. Some great weapon combat scenes right from the start.
I highly recommand this for fans of Gordon Liu its a must to see or if your looking for a great kung fu flick.

A phenomenally good film, and Lau Kar Leung's philosophy laid out to be seen.
Legend Of The Wolf (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Oh man this was bad well not to bad but one of Donnie Yens worst films I've ever seen.
The choreography is bad most of is just one hit punches or kicks whenever he gets into big brawls which happens a few times.
Other times the camera either moves to fast or is to close up to really see the fighting. Others times its to dark like the start of the film.
There is one cool scene where he takes on this guy who uses a chain but its short. They tried to make this movie look violent but didn't pull it off well.
The movie gets very boring for about 15-20mins near the middle close to the end. Bad camera work, poor choreography which was ruined due to the camera work, average acting. A bigger budget could have helped this movie also the editing work.
See this if your a die hard Donnie Yen if not there's plenty of other Donnie Yen movies that are better then this.

yes you're right i would class myself a big donnie yen fan but this film sucks the choreography in this film is the worst i have ever seen from donnie yen.
Ideas makes movies successful, not necessarily $! Yen had an idea and made it work, telling a great story. And just so you know, the action was an awesome show of rising standards for Donnie Yen in his later career. What the hell movie were you watching?

"Chinese Super Ninja" is yet another classic Shaw Brothers film.
The story is pretty easy to follow. One school is challenge by another but knows little about them being that there all ninjas. All the fighters that get sent out for the challenge die. Others stay back to protect the school incase the ninjas come for them.
They do end up coming to there school thanks to and inside ninja that they didnt know about. All but one lives and ends up returning back to an older teacher to help get revenge.
There's a ton of fight scenes most being weapon fights there are some hand combat but not much. It does drag on a little near the middle when it shows them at the school but it picks up once the ninjas make there way in. But the weapons fights are some of the best. They use a ton of weapons. All the fighters use different weapons.
This does have some gore scenes nothing over the top but back then it was a lot. Most of it dosnt happen until towards the end. Most of the fight scenes near the start show some blood from the weapons just like any other kung fu flick. But the gore in it is from body parts being ripped off most from the tree ninja scene and some spay blood effect.
Overall a classic shaw brother movie which does feature a few venoms but not the whole cast. Its still a great a movie for sure any shaw brother fans should pick this up.

You are completely right to point out that this review is of the uncut original film. The English dub is pretty bad, and most previous editions disguise the beautiful cinematography. The real thing is extremely good.
