Chanbara Beauty: The Movie / Dororo [2-Disc Set] (product link)
Martial Arts / Action/Adventure

I give "Chanbara Beauty" 2 stars. It's a cool action film with a post-apocalypse zombie theme to it. But the gaping holes in what they call a plot are hard to overlook. The characters are two dimensional. It is based on a video game after all, and it shows.

I give "Dororo" 4 stars. They did a great job adapting the manga to film. They changed some elements but the story is faithful to the original material. The only part I was not happy with was the warlord's attempt at redemption.

Five Shaolin Masters (product link)
Martial Arts / Action/Adventure

I remember seeing this as a child. The years have been good to this film. This is the best of the old school martial arts films. No wirework here, just pure physical prowess. And the story is actually engrossing. I highly recommend it!

Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children (product link)
Animation / Science Fiction

Well, as a feature film, I would fail it. The plot made little sense, the direction lackluster, and the acting (voice) was flat. The computer graphics were amazing, but that alone cannot carry the movie.
