Bio: i'm a parasite who's hobbies include creation. Detail/Abstract artist, song writer, book writer and so on. I also like assimilating movies. I generally like movies that are unintentally funny and dumb. When I rate and review a film (and I'm always honest about my score), I primarily look for conception, story and characterization. Action is secondary. I like most films from the 60's- 80's, mainly kung fu, exploitation and horror......... There is only decay, yet I'm here to stay :)

"The Killer Snakes" is a unique film about a troubled guy being pushed around by an apathetic and miserable society. While disconsolate, a cobra slithers into his existence with a revealing gall bladder hanging from its anatomy. He saves the cobra from certain death. Now the snake and man are somehow without comprehension connected mentally. Basically now the snake acts as the stimulus for the man's inner detestation for a malevolent society and thus the idea of killer snakes is manifested. Killing sprees and mayhem.
This is an original film, although over two decades later a film called "Willard" came out and subsequently ripped off some of the concepts in terms of the story of killer snakes and changed snakes into rats, but "The Killer Snakes" is a much better film by far. "The Killer Snakes" will cater more to the grindhouse horror lovers of filmlore, but this is indeed an original film. It's maniacal, sick, twisted, perverse and dramatic.
The story is about Ricky, who is subjugated for punching a guy's head in (literally) over an incident that affected the life of Ricky's girlfriend. Ricky, with supreme kung fu, now must survive within a very corrupt prison system with five malignant gangster leaders, the warden who can metamorphose into a silly monster, his gluttonous fat son and also help the inferior prisoners.
The reason why this is one of my all time favorite films is because it portrays what I like in cinema: a film that acts serious but doesn't take itself seriously at the same time--an example being that the film's story is very dramatic but the action is overdone in terms of sarcasm, asininity and over-the-top gore. The fact that someone can punch a hole in someone else's body is downright funny and entertaining. And the fact that some of the FX are evidently facecious give it its prime enjoyment. The gore level in this film is at "Dead Alive's" level. Nam Nai Choi, one of my all time favorite directors, could have been the next Herschell Gordon Lewis or Lucio Fulci, but unfortuantely his film carrer ended with the all so entertaining film THE CAT which was made after RICKY.
Gore film fans will like it, but people who are infatuated with anything relevant towards Hollywood and big budget films will hate it, as well as people who prefer films to be fast-paced, because this film sort of lacks pacing. But then again who cares? BEST FILM EVER!!

The movie is just a hell of a lot of fun - probably for the reasons you cite.
Definitely agree with you "The Story of Ricky" is a cult classic that has high replay value, and could be enjoyed by non martial arts fans. Great date movie ... for me anyway ?
the films story is a bit nosensical. in terms, rubber's Lover is primarily about scientists who are experimenting with telepathy and/or telekenesis in which most cases go wrong and their patients go obliviously insane. of course things deteriorate when one particular patient is able to balance his mental powers and finds means to avenge himself for the torture that was brought upon him.
personally, i loved Rubber's Lover for it's horrific and cyberpunk elements. technology and flesh bonding and dependency for gaining knowledge is my guilty pleasurable aspects when it comes to films like these. i also like the ultra-violence portrayed in this film as well. the blood and mayhem has a surreal effect due to the fact the film is in black and white, making it somewhat believable.
i'm in a quandry as to whether you will like Rubber's Lover or not. i can only say that it is a film worth checking out if you like cyberpunk films (although this films aspects doesn't focus on technology, it focuses primarly on telepathy) and if you like ultra violence. the pacing of the film is like a Takashi Miike film, slow but is able to suddenly suprise you with shocking images that are either awe0inspiring or completely repulsive. I loved it, but i recommend getting a 22nd opinion.
"House Of Traps" is a movie about a prince who betrays his government and steals the list of names of various rebels and then joins in the rebellious cause. Certain government officials are given orders to retreive the list, along with some valuables such as a jade horse and a crown, but of course they are located withing the HOUSE OF TRAPS. What will they do?
This is evidently the last of the Venoms film saga. It may not be the best but most certainly is a passable one. The fights in the movie are good as a Venom film should be, but throughout the film they appear often but most of them are very short. The story is okay for what it is but does have that perpetuation in Chinese movie story lore (how many movies have been based upon accumulating the "list of REBELS" I wonder). The House Of Traps idea does give it some originality. There are even malicious scenes that will make you laugh, like when this guy who betrayed the rebels got spikes stuck in him.
Overall, it's not a bad film. It certainly isn't on the level of the Venoms' greatest films, like "Kid With The Golden Arm" or "Crippled Avengers", but "House" is worth a glance.

"Overall, it's not a bad film" Oh yes it is! This movie should of been called "The House of Talk."
The film is about a woman who is raped by five nefarious men and is left scarred for life. Later on she finds out she has VD, which sets her mind in a state of irrationality, thus yearning for revenge with the help of a kung fu expert turned cripple.
This film is a remake of a 1973 Shaw Brothers classic (sort of), "Kiss Of Death", if you can believe that. I thought I was assimilating something original, but I guess I was wrong. "Her Vengeance" has practically replicated "Kiss". The good news for me however is that "Kiss" and "Her" have a difference in terms of how the film is created. "Kiss" is created as an exploitation, filled with some level of asininity involving playing cards as weapons, silly sex scenes, and kung fu that doesn't quite fit a film such as this. "Her" on the other had is a much darker film that takes itself a little more seriously, except in some cases towards the end of the film, especially when you see booby traps and a kung fu fight scene between a wheelchair guy and one of the rapists. But "Her" has a sense of realism which makes it more authentic. SO WHICH IS IT? EXPLOITATION OR A SENSE OF REALISM?
This is yet another great film by Nam Nai Choi. Not better than "Seventh Curse" or "Ricky" and a couple of others, but damn it was good. The editing is somewhat questionable which is where my doubts lie about this film (I did give it a 4) because the rape scene felt a bit tame. Some of the blood effects are great, while others look a little silly, while a few look obviously fake. And that's it!
Son Of Swordsman (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure What I like about Joseph Kuo's earlier films is that he gives some kind of significance in storytelling in his films. Most of his early Wuxia Pien always have a dramatic ending, giving the story meaning.
I enjoy these low budget (from a Chinese/Taiwanese stand-point) swordplay films, but I never came across one that was titillating. so don't expect (because I assume you don't care) much of a review from me with these films.
The story is about two guys, one who got his arms cut off and the other with his legs burnt to a cinder, who find a skinny yoga master and learn kung fu from him. Then the story involves finding jade horses that reveal an invincible kung fu technique.
I can only assume this film was made after the Chang Cheh classic "Crippled Avengers", but what makes this film unique is the fact that this does contain actual cripples. It is sort of creepy to see this, especially the armless guy with his stump that is still active and stimulates a bow staff quite sufficiently, or the guy with deformed legs who can walk with his hands utilizing his upper body strength. Overall, though, it is fun to watch something original onscreen that makes this film different from other films.
The kung fu fights were great--not the best, but great. The story is not too good, but it doesn't ruin the movie. Overall, this film is a nice little gem to add to the kung fu collection.
This film is about the people of China having to deal with Japanese oppression. Jimmy Wang Yu plays a unique warrior who must gather a group of martial artists and help defend their homeland.
When it comes to a Jimmy Wang Yu-directed film, the best thing portrayed in his films is charactization. He always gives a specific look for any of the main or supporting characters, making them easy to recognize. This film is definitely an exception.
One of the things that suprised me about this film is the fact it's almost a legit epic film, which is odd for me because most of Jimmy's films are a little more basic, like "Chinese Boxer" or "One-Armed Boxer".
The fights pop up here and there throughtout the film until the last twenty minutes, where the fights are perpetuated until the last drop--except a minor two-minute dialouge scene which then leads to the finale. The fights were a mixture of sword brawling and Chinese trick photography involving trampalines and other things, but it's shot very well and the choreography is splinded.
Overall the film is excellent. As to the issue of whether ancient China and Japan ever had a conflict or war in the time of Han rule (I assume) is beyond my comprehension, but regardless, it's all great.

As with pretty much every movie involving Jimmy Wang Yu, this movie is absolutely terrible. The guy is about as convincing as a martial artist as Luke Perry was a teenager on 90210.
The film is about some kung fu school getting annihilated by some gang leader and Thai fighters. The surviving girl finds her brother and now revenge is inevitable. They enlist the help of Tiger (Jimmy Wang Yu) to decimate the existence of these malevolent people. Of course the problem is Tiger is a sissy and is subservient towards his stupid mother who doesn't favor violence. But then something bad happens that causes the death of Tiger's mother and the girl and so on, and then Tiger is gonna' kick some booty, suckaz.
Is the film good? Yes, but only in my cynical state of mind. What got me to love this film is the wretched English dubbing, the killer knife fight scene towards the end (reminded me of "Kill Bill" for some weird reason), and its grindhouse aspects, which involve deviations in the story. (What the hell is up with that Thai boxing ring scene anyways?)
I doubt many of you will like this film, but I'm not completely sure. The dialouge scene's pacing is slow, but the horrible verbalization makes up for it. The story is dull and inane and I can only say there were maybe three fight scenes that were great while others were either silly or dumb. So I guess theoretically, if you like train wrecks, you'll love this film.
Bohachi Bushido: Code Of The Forgotten Eight (product link) Erotica / Drama This is an excellent film. Filled with so much samurai fights, naked girls, torture methodology, and fornication that you would think this is a hardcore porn film (on a whole other level of course, not suggesting the hardcore to be relevant towards copulation). The story was the most shocking. Ishii is known for his irrational deviations in terms of plot and story to the point where everything is malformed and contorted, but this one--my God, he kept the story intact (except a couple of deviations involving a torture scene with a white nun). Great vocalization and dialogue.
This film is worth every penny to titillate your consumerism needs. (And by the way the naked girls are real hot, if you're into that sort of thing.)
This film is just your basic slasher film but with theory intact. Basically what I like most about films like these is that they have some sort of relevance towards reality, just like the killer in this film to where you see some of the abnomalities the killer has witness in a nostalgic moment of his life, and what the killer becomes is the result of these nefarious things. If this was more focused and well told then the film would have been phenomenal. But they didn't give it enough stimulation to make this film intelligable. But I guess you have to sacrifice logic for mystery, callous death and grindhouse attire to assumingly please the idle-minded which is mostly common in slasher films.
If you like watching people die artifically because it brings you exuberance, then this film will suffice. But what makes this film worthy of optical assimilation is the last five mintues of the film, excluding the credits. I guarentee it.
The Invincible Sword [1971] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure There is not much to say about this film, other than the fact it has great sword fights, decent cinematography, and a very uninteresting plot (because these stories are too common) about rescuing some general from execution from a malignant goverment. It's a good film, don't get me wrong, but it's too familiar.
The film is your basic revenge story about a man who finds a black magic wizard of some kind to eradicate the folks who were involved in the rape and death of his wife of three months.
The first 40 minutes of the film have hardly any horror elements. It focuses mainly on ridiculous sex scenes (but is soooooo worth it because the ladies are beauteous), street brawlings and mystique. But when the horror elements manifest, get ready for a wild ride of vomiting, necrophilia, gore, incest, a pregnant woman's stomach bursting, and all sorts of wonderful things of infamy. The last 10 mintues of the film are where this film really shines.
In the end however, this film will mainly appeal towards the grindhouse crowd or people who have a dire obsession for horror splatter flicks in general. For its time it was a rather virulent film that even amazed me. But I wouldn't be over enthusiastic because other than the pregnant woman scene, there is nothing here than can't even match the level of awe-inspiring violence in, let's say, an Italian horror flick. But "Seeding of a Ghost" is in its own right an entertaining film.
First off, there is gonna' be no clear perception on the good, the bad or the ugliness of this film. Yes it is nihilistic. Yes it's mindless violence. Yes the film has no logic. But to me that is what makes this film great (according in my state of mind). But in essence I can understand why people can't like this film.
Examples: it's a Miike film because his flaws as director are slow pacing and nihilist plots. Its virulence is too much. "Oh it thinks it is too extreme but it's not. Durr..." Nothingness is its purpose.
To me the flaw to this film is that the filmmakers were experimenting on how extreme they could be. but then again, that may not be the logic because this film is based on a comic book from the guy who also was involved in an Ishii film called SCREWED.
Despite its nonsensicality, it's a controversal film in its on right. As far as extreme violence goes, the paradox will remain perpetually inconclusive, much like the OPINIONS (keyword) SPEWED from the haters and lovers of this film.
I am in a dire quandry about this film. First off it makes the same fatal mistake that "Halloween 3" did, and that is not giving us Jason. Jason, as revealed at the end of the movie, is a spirit who possesses people and turns them into maniacs. The killer in this film is just some ass who went insane after seeing his mentally deficent son defunct when the son got chopped in the back by an ax. Supossedly Jason possessed him and all hell broke loose.
Now I liked where they were going with this, however it was for the wrong franchise. As an original concept on its own it could work. Give it a logic--maybe the serial killer spirit possesses people and manifests their complacent killer instincts--and make the story psychological and intricate, and it could work. After all, people don't want imitations, they want the real thing. Jason himself not killing people out of nihilistic or discordant purposes is the pinnicle as to why this "Friday The 13th" failed as movie. So avoid this one at all costs.
The film is about some villain called Big Little Feet, whose soul purpose in this film is to acquire a jade Buddha statue which causes a Godfather to be kidnapped and the protangonist to be constantly attacked by various assassins. The protagonist must find out who kidnapped his Godfather, but of course it may not be the true villain he suspects.
This is one of the best kung fu films ever made. What I mainly look for in a kung fu movie is characterization, and this film delivers in spades. From the holy ghost killer to Big Little Feet, the characters are recognizable and fun to optically assimilate for euphoria.
The story is pretty good, though I felt they should have been more elusive and mysterious with the true villain of this film. It becomes evident by the time the fight between the thief and Simon Yuen occurs.
The kung fu action is crazy and fun. I like martial arts films to be more creative, rather than use the traditional garbage that usually exists in these films and gets rather dull after awhile.
The only flaw, but a flaw I love in these b-movie grindhouse films, is the laughable English dubbing. Some of it is misplaced in certain scenes, which makes me laugh hysterically. "BE CARFUL OF THE JADE BUDD...BUDDHA BLESS YOU."
Overall, one of the most entertaining films ever made. If you like wacky kung fu action and good characterization, this film is sufficent.
Yes, I'm gonna say this outright and with sheer cynicism: THIS FILM IS OVERRATED!!! Why? Four things:
A trivial reason, but the concept. How many times and how many ways are these people gonna' tell the tragic story of the benevolent Shaolin Temple being burnt down by the malevolent Ching Dynasty? Though the story is primarily based around the concept of Tiger/Crane style and the Tiger Claw guy seeking revenge against Pei Mei, it agitates me to no end to see this retardation. Urgh!
Kung fu action. Though Lar Kar-Leung has made great films like "Eight Diagram Pole Fighter", "Heroes Of The East", and "Legendary Weapons Of China", the fights in this film are weak. I only like the fights between Pei Mei and Tiger Claw man (I forgot his name, SORRY!).
The utter insignificance of Wang Yu. Now, he has done some good films, however his characterization ruined this film. Obnoxious and stupid.
The final fight scene. It wasn't even a fight scene, just Wang Yu acting like a tool. But somehow he gets the upper hand on Pei Mei because he combined Tiger with Crane. Whoopie-doo!
The only reason I like this film is Lo Lieh as Pei Mei, and my dire obsession with the salacious Lily Li, which of course was good enough to give this film three stars. Other than that this film is a horrible waste of my butt. If you like it, fine, I don't care. This is just my cynicism speaking after all.

I can't agree. The whole point of the film is the development of the Hung Gar form, combining Tiger and Crane styles. Wang Yu's performance bothers many people, but it doesn't bother me enough to bring the film down.
Hero [2002] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
Note: I'm gonna be bitter, cynical and irrational (as always) about this film.
First off, I hated this film. Not for its wuxia pian swordplay action, but for everything else.
The story has to be the most ridiculous piece of crap to ever exist in the history of Chinese cinema. The film is about a charater who remains Nameless (DUR, I'm SO FUNNY, DUH) who gets to meet the King for killing his most feared enemies. Then it goes on to where Nameless tells the tale of how he killed them. then the story converts when the candle lights flicker towards the King and Nameless is revealed to be an assassin and wants to kill the King. The story completely deviates and now Nameless tells the story TO THE KING of how he decieved him. OH MY GOD! THIS IS PURE RETARDATION!
Oh let us not forget the morality which this film teaches us: to unite a country you must kill those who are not like you, like women, children and calligraphers, and a blade of grass can be used as a weapon. God, if you're gonna use implications, at least make it more relevant.
The characterization was wretched. No one in this film was interesting, just stupid, apathetic, theoretically elusive morons crying about their detestation for the King. God, just tell the girl why you spared the King. IT'S THAT EASY. "OH no, I'm in sorrow and I understand him. I think he's a hot man." DON'T GET ME STARTED.
I didn't care about the cinematography and the flowy art in this film. I'm reluctant to opinionate on it because no matter how much the credulity contradicts, inconclusivity triumphs.
I didn't completely hate this film, only because of the fight scenes (which by the way weren't that great, but nice enough to enjoy), and I can comprehend why people can like a film like this; but this film is overrated and completely a self-indulged non-sensicality. Only recommended to the articulate crowd.

As much as I hate to agree with you, I do in this case. You gave this garbage too many stars though. This movie is a pretentious load of garbage and the wirework is just plain absurd.
I'm in a dire quandary with this film, so I'll do the pros and cons review.
PROS: Excellent concept. I personally have an infatuation about metamorphosis and cyberpunk, and this film delivers in spades. Plus the film's cinematography is nice. It has an urban/futuristic look which agrees with my thoughts.
Characters: I mainly like the chick with no arms and no legs and the engineers.
Gore: lots of it.
CONS: Slow and boring.
Horrible lead actress. Completely apathetic and devoid of personality. All she does is stare at crap, contemplates callously and kill engineers.
The gore scenes. These people need to take a lesson from the movie "Dead Alive" on how to shoot gore films. The problem with the blood-splattery gore scenes is that they focus on one particular gore aspect at a time for up to maybe 10 seconds. It escalates the slow pacing and can get tedious. 10 seconds of some arm spraying blood is retarded.
Story is meaningless. I don't need to say more.
OVERALL: I can only recommend this film to people who like their gore films mindless and tedious or for the pros I've just verbalized. But the slow pacing along with the crappy protagonist and stupid story will desensitize others to sheer bordom and misery. ME? I'm consummately ambivalent about this one.
The film is about this weird white stuff that was discovered spawning from the ground. The stuff was really quite tasty. Sometime later, it becomes the most successful product on the market, killing all the other competition in food consumerism. Some guy (I forgot his name, so we'll call him Tool) is hired to investigate this. later he discovers along with some brat and some chick that the stuff is a living organism that assimilates his hosts and controls their actions and the host rots from the inside out (at least that is what I assume). The movie asks the question: are we consuming the stuff or is the stuff consuming us?
Despite the fact this is a Larry Cohen film (and you know what I'm talking about), this is quite an amazing film (or a piece of garbage). The film is able to insult your insignificant consumerism and still use credulity to make you think this is an asinine comical horror film that is fun for optical assimilation. Beauteous. I love this film to DEATH!
The film is poorly shot, just like a Cohen film should be (that's why I love his films). I has the ultimate grindhouse mentality and deviates its intent profusely. I mean here we have the protagonists trying to discover the root of the "Stuff" problem, and next thing you know they are hiring schizophrenic ex-military mercs to deal with the situation. One minute is a horror film, next a comedy, next horror, next action, etc. The film can't make up its mind about what it wants to be, but that is the sheer beauty of films like this.
If you like a film that doesn't take itself seriously, this film is for you; but the potential logic of consumerism is dead-on and you will be subconscious to it, unknowingly insulted by how this film manifests your insignificant nature.
The film is about the struggling and apathetic people of a Chinese village who are addicted to opium. Ti Lung, a kung fu master, is the overseer of this town; but the flaw in his character is that he's addicted to opium. When one of his students tries to decimate an opium house and gets railed for it, Ti Lung is out to stop the madness, but is defeated by the main villain who is supplying the opium. Now Ti Lung must kick the habitual tendency and save the town from becoming a cesspool of misery and sheer stupidity.
I like this film but it's overrated. The kung fu fight scenes were not that spectacular--they were good but not that great. I'm nauseated by people like Ric Meyers "oh yessth guyths" overhyping this film as Shaw's greatest kung fu film ever. If anything, "5 Venoms" or "8 Diagram Pole Fighter" deserve that praise, but I guess we are all different people.
The story, at least, deviates from the Ming vs. Ching garbage and "waah waah, Shaolin Temple is ruined" crap I have to assimilate with sheer exasperation and does something more modern and relevant towards the real world. Unfortunately the film is way too overacted, which is something I abhor in most Chinese films. The artificial irrational acting takes me right out of the movie into obscurity.
Overall, I did like this film enough because the fights were good and the story was plausible. But to say this is the best kung fu film ever made is ridiculous.
There is no purpose in explaining this story to you. I didn't pay attention because I was laughing too hard at this film's cheeziness.
One of the things I loved about this film is the overall kookiness, from the sissy-mary prince biting the neck and sucking the blood of the red python, to the epic battle with a gorilla which looked like a guy in a suit. I laughed severely when the prince punched the gorilla's arm off. This film has many more scenes like this with this amount of silliness.
The other thing I liked about this film was the action. The fights were fantastic--a combination of cheesy lazer FX like in "Super Inframan" mixed with Wuxin Pien fights with all sorts of weird weapons like the main antagonist with his extension legs.
In conclusion, if you like films that are cheesier than hell and crazier than Ted Bundy, this one is worth it. 73 mintues of exuberance, unless you hate fun films.

This movie is so bad it's...bad. A ridiculous film, from start to finish.
I don't hate fun films, I hate bad films. Everything you described about this film (prince punching the gorilla's arm off, guy with extended chicken legs) is what I hate about this film. This isn't fun, it's just bad.
The cinematography is good, with a very old and urban-like structure that deviates from the original "One-Armed Swordsman's" cinematography, which was based in the martial arts world.
Excellents fights. The final fight scene was intense and got me all worked up.
Some excellent characters. The protagonist and the antagonist are who I mainly cared about.
And the fact this film doesn't look at all like a remake of the original "One-Armed Swordsman".
Cons:
The stupid, obnoxious narrator, who is contantly cataclysmic, completely cynical, utterly retarded, and ugly as my butt. I wish she was raped and killed in this movie.
Tsui Hark's spasmodic camera control.
The fact that the film didn't end with the one-armed swordsman killing every actor in this film.
Overall: I loved this film, but the narrator, some bad acting, and Tsui Hark's inability to handle a camera properly (much like Michael Bay) hinders this film's chance of being consummate.

I liked this more or less the same as you, but not for the same reasons. The narrator WAS a complete idiot, but she was supposed to be, and always had been.
The film is about three girls with magical powers who move into a home to practice celibacy (I guess). Then some scholar comes along and the three girls--Ca Ca, Pe Pe, and Poo Poo (I forgot their names)--feel a sudden sense to engage in coitus with him. Of course it happens, but then the girls decide to alienate him and continue their habitual celibacy. This pisses off the scholar, who then reveals himself to be a demon, and now he seeks revenge.
I HATE EROTIC! SLOW, TEDIOUS AND GAY! But the only reason why I like this film is that it has some really funny and entertaining stuff. The scene when the scholar grows three heads, rapes and kills a girl had to be the best scene ever in movie cinema. It was funnier than hell. And the beginning of the film, when guys thought they were copulating girls when in fact they were copulating corpses... They should have done more of this kind of stuff and then this film would be golden, but unfortunately this is an erotica film where 30 minutes (or less) into the film for at least 30 minutes is where the film loses all credibility with artfully dull sex scenes involving a lesbian scene and three involving the scholar and all three women.
Also where this film loses credibility is the fact this film is loosely a rip-off of "Witches Of Eastwick". The scenes that are relevent are the fruit eating scene, the voodoo doll scene, and the a demon meeting three girls to copulate.
Overall, I like this film mainly for some of the wicked, cheesy horror scenes and the fact that the girls are hot, but I hate erotica and that is the only reason why I don't care for this one.
Matrix is a peaceful man, trying to escape his past as a military man to seek solace with his daughter in the happy mountains. But now some terrorist group kidnaps his daughter to coerce him to do a job that conflicts with his thoughts. He now must kill everything in sight to reacquire his daughter and eradicate the filth that stole his daughter. Grrrrrr! Arnold Schwarzenegger in THE COMMANDO. :)
BEST FILM EVER! Yes, I'm deliberately implying that this film is better than "Lord Of The Rings", "Godfather", "Schindler's List", and "Pulp Fiction" combined. I've seen this film a million times and this film never gets old. Crappy dialouge, a simple and braindead story, the fact that one guy can kill an entire army (oh it thrills my thoughts), blood, a great final death scene involving a pipe and steam and great characterization make this film a must-have.
In conclusion, DIE IF YOU HATE THIS FILM! Best action film ever.

It's good, but not nearly as much as you say. It's better than average mindless action, and that's all right.
The film is about a girl who seeks revenge against five males for raping her and giving her VD. She is conflicted with discontent and disturbia as she seeks help from Lo Lieh's character to teach her kung fu. Now she's on a virulent rampage, stabbing these men in the genitals. WHEEEEEE! What fun!
I found this film to be rather pleasant. The story in this film is actually quite good, even if it's a straightforward vengeance film. Of course, despite the film's good story, it is still an exploitation film. The music made me laugh. The cinematography was hilarious with the hippy repugnance and other modern day attire. The sex scenes were ridiculous. The thought of a woman seeking out her assailants to stab them in the balls was funny, yet disturbing at the same time. Also, playing cards being utililized as weapons was silly. All these things were great and made the film more entertaining than it's worth.
However, if kung fu action is what you seek, then I suggest avoiding this one. There are generally four fight scenes in this film and some desperate escape scenes which could be equivilant towards action, depending on your point of view. Although I found the fights to be good, it won't please a kung fu enthusiast.
This movie will generally please exploitation film fans and, considering I'm one of those fans, I loved this movie to death.
The Master Strikes (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I can only say that this is one of the best kung fu films ever. Even if the story is somewhat idle-minded with asinine slapstick humor (which I detest), the fights in this film are amazing. Casanova Wong is the bomb-diggity and is, in my thoughts, a way better martial arts performer than idiots like Jackie Chan or Jet Li. His tae kwon do is unmatchable. The final fight scene had me all exuberant and I was just jumping out of my couch, shouting out at the top of my lungs wanting more, wishing the fight would never end.
I recommend this movie for the kung fu action alone. It is indeed worth it all.
The only reason why I gave this movie 4 stars is because of the kung fu action. Other than that, this film isn't particularally significant.
The film starts off great, with Casanova kickin' ass against some guy for stealing some golden plate that holds the power to conform a group of killers or assassins from some clan for his own justifications. Afterwards, however, this film wastes 50 mintues of its time with ridiculous slapstick comedy. None of the fights are taken seriously (just flipping around and martial arts stimulations for entertainment purposes), with a dull, tedious story. The protagonist is exasperating as well, making this film idiotic.
When the hour mark hits, that's when the film picks up speed. The fights were fantastic, mainly due to Casanova Wong's uncanny abilities. I mean, besides lacking the ability to do flips (I can only assume this), this guy can move. Casanova should have been the next big thing, but morons want the overrated Jet Lis and Jackie Chans of the world instead of true talent.
Overall, I recommend this one to Casanova fans or for kung fu action fans. But its lame, slow-paced story, and the fact that this film has no real fight scenes (except the beginning) until 60 minutes into the film, is what prevents this film from achieving greatness.
The film is about a blind Manchurian assassin, Flying Guillotine, who seeks revenge against the One Armed Boxer. Other perdicaments follow as the One Armed Boxer is sought out by local and foreign (to China) fighters who want to engage in combat with him as well.
Let me just say, this is my all time favorite kung fu film ever, and if you abhorred this film, you have no business in the kung fu genre. Stick with Hollywoods films; that's what you're good at (I apologize for the cynicism, but I'm just speaking through logic).
The characterization is what I loved the most. Each specific character has a unique look and personality with a unique style of kung fu, which brings greatness to this film.
The kung fu action may be no "Fist Of Legend", but still I think it's the most impressive stuff I've ever seen BECAUSE, as I said with charactization, each style represented in this film is unique and I love how these different styles of martial arts are pitted against one another in combat and the fact that some of the styles are artifical (like Yoga style) while others are traditional (like Hung Gar).
Other things to consider are excellent dialog, good acting, and good cinematography. The music is simply the best. I love the Flying Guillotine theme music, which has an industrial sound, while other styles of music sound reminiscent of Italian horror, victory cheer stuff, and happy musical sequences.
In conclusion: best film ever! Better than "Fist Of Legend", "Drunken Master 2", and whatever overhyped piece of garbage you coddle like a blanket! I hate you!!!!! :)

Giving a Jimmy Wang Yu film five stars is akin to nominating Uwe Boll for Best Director. This is another Jimmy Wang Yu film that has him swinging around his arms and calling it kung fu. What a joke.
The story goes: some Donald Duck impersonator is going around and mutilating girls (I forgot why). A detective is finding the killer while some bitch is apprehensive (or is she not?) about the notion that she will be next.
I liked this movie, but my conscience told me to rate this film 2 1/2 because this film is slow paced and ridiculously asinine. The idea that some dingleberry is killing women while vocalizing some duck character (NOT DONALD DUCK, by the way) is a bit too funny, but it adds to the entertainment value regardless. The killing simulations are what you expect from a Lucio Fulci film: controversial, graphic, brutal, malignant, and downright cheesy.
The film, however, does shine so radiantly towards the end. What I like most in mystique slasher films is the deception that what you thought it was ends up being something else entirely (think carefully what I'm talking about). This film did it well, and it made me jump a little.
I could only recommend this film to Lucio Fulci fans or mindless slasher film lovers. I liked it mainly for the violence and the last few moments of the film.
Fast Company (product link) Drama / Action/Adventure This is Cronenberg's worst movie ever, except for maybe "Crash", "M. Butterfly", and "Spider". It's a movie based around drag racing, corruption, and star-humper neurosis. The only person who was plausible in this film was John Saxon, while others were GAY! This film will only please die-hard fans of Cronenberg or people who like Grindhouse films based around drag racing. Nothing interesting exists here, even my review of this film.
