The swordplay in this film is a dream come true. Most films with realistic swordplay provide most of the action in a wide shot, but this film pulls you in. The creative edge of the film is the play with colors and patterns. The characters are as colorful as the film, while the rock soundtrack rolls everything together into a sushi roll of action and adventure.
If your only background to samurai films is Tom Cruse, I would suggest you look for an easer title to start with. But if you enjoy anime, then this film will fit right in with your DVD collection. |
