| From the director of "Samurai Fiction" comes a spin-off story about ninjas in feudal japan. For those of you who have seen "Samurai Fiction", the ninjas were a great part, full of action and humor. So where could the director go wrong if he did a movie about ninjas?
The story is too long, or at least it feels that way, dragging all the way to the credits. While the first half of the film sets a pace of action and danger, the second half is a slow moving piece about the effects of violence and good vs. evil.
The humor is badly placed in the story and the action is nowhere near "SF's" quality. The one plus side was the director's style of color and lighting play. As "SF" was mostly in b&w, this film explodes with interesting colors and lighting. Sadly that is not enough to save the film.
The director has real talent and I can't wait for his next production, but this one missed the mark by a mile. |
