Pedicab Driver (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy The best ever, there is nothing wrong with this movie: the acting, the stunts, the fights the story...everything is immaculate. Good job from Sammo again and all his acolytes, very nice cameo surprises too. Definitely a movie to own!
The Ultimate Ti Lung Collection [4-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not his best movies, although [it works] as an introduction to the old movies of the late sixties and seventies with David Chiang and Lau Kar Leung.
Legendary Weapons Of China (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Sifu Lau Kar Leung is in tip top shape; so are is partners in this movie. The scenario is pretty basic (although quite childish in its concept). The concept of the movie is: can you train people to tolerate and survive bullet wounds? That is the part I have a hard time with. If you buy the movie, you are buying it because of the kung fu--the two phenomenal Lau brothers are worth the movie alone. Buy it, you won't regret it.
The Hidden Enforcers (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Not my favourite one, can't say I liked where it went. Way too much violence for no reason, they lost control of the main idea in the movie, it could have gone somewhere. Actors are very good and as usual Sammo is fantastic. First time I've seen him so mad at the world. I prefer him a bit more relaxed and enjoying a good laugh. All in all, I would not recommend it if you are looking for a kung fu movie.
Pantyhose Hero (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure By today's standards, this film is so politically incorrect the way it deals with gay men you could call this a real guilty pleasure, because a pleasure this is. Very cliched in the way it deals with sexuality, and about as subtle as a sledge hammer on gays, but when it comes to the action it has to be said that Sammo does not disappoint with this. I found myself laughing at times and thinking, hey, that's a bit cruel; but if you look at it in context, Hollywood was guilty of even worse stereotyping when they tried to deal with gay issues in films. Some of the comedy may be dated, but enjoy the action.
