The new wave of French horror films continues to dominate and break all sorts of taboos. This is hands-down the most shocking movie yet. Just thinking about certain scenes gives me the heebie-jeebies!

Your comments are 100% correct. But I still don't understand what there is to "enjoy" in this film. Sadistic torture and abuse, that's it. What's to enjoy? Blech.
"The Good, The Bad, The Weird" is hands down one of my favorite films of 2008. From the very time it was announced, this project earned my "most anticipated movie of the year" spot. Oh sure, I've seen other Asian directors take a shot at the western genre, but nothing really satisfied me other than "Tears Of The Black Tiger". "Sukiyaki Western Django" was a complete bore in my opinion. Anyhow, considering I had previously viewed "A Bittersweet Life" and adored it, I had full confidence the director could pull off something wonderful, especially with the cast that signed on (more on that later).
Anyhow, the film has many references to Euro-westerns, specifically, "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", but still it manages to keep things fresh during its entire duration--and this film is pretty lengthy. Oh and the surprise ending really, er, surprised me? Ha ha.
The cast? One word: phenomenal. You literally have some of the GREATEST Korean male actors involved, and each star works their character brilliantly. Song Kang-Ho ("Memories Of Murder", "JSA") flat out levels any project he is attached to. I don't know if anyone else agrees, and I don't mean to swing off this dude's nuts, but he is seriously one of the greatest performers alive.
Chocolate [2008] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The action choreography was a bit of a let down and a bit too unoriginal for my taste. After viewing "Born To Fight" (the new version), I went into this film hoping it could match or at least compare, but in the end I felt like this flick was nothing more than an alternative version of "Ong-Bak". Worth renting but I have no plans to purchase it on DVD.

Totally agree. Calling the action choreography unoriginal may well be the understatement of the year. Every fight is the exact same, and the outcomes of some are just not plausible.
no, the action is really great, my favouite movie at moment, jeeja is not as good as tony jaa,but she is the best female actioner at moment, must see film!
Tokyo Gore Police (product link) Action/Adventure / Horror Wow, this is quite possibly the goriest, zaniest, most eye-blowing, chunk-spewing, urine-spraying!!, vagina-chomping, head-exploding sci-fi/action flick ever.
Recommended for fans of: "Machine Girl", "Meatball Machine", and other Japanese splatter flix.

Your review is spot on. This film was far more over the top than, say, Evil Dead 2. The film included some highly disturbing images, and I'm not referring to the cutesy blood-letting.
Welcome To Dongmakgol (product link) Drama / Comedy All the other people reviewing this are speaking the truth. This movie is a personal favorite of mine and hands down one of the most original Korean films in years.

I need to research this film in depth, because there are some very appealing performers. No part of the plot seemed contrived.
i agree with you i got this film not really knowing what to expect but watching the film i was blown away i thought the acting and story was great.well worth you're time.
Rogue (product link) Horror / Thriller There was quite a bit of hype surrounding this follow-up to "Wolf Creek", and while I think some people are gonna' dig this, I was not all that impressed. The story premise is just too simple and played out. It's like every alligator movie always has the same vibe, nothing original--same methods for the characters' deaths, plot development is thin...blah, blah.
Surprisingly, I did enjoy it better than "Wolf Creek", but that's not saying much.

I did enjoy this better then "Wolf Creek" & yeah that's not saying much. This is an allright crocodile film, it's not original but it has its moments. Have u seen "Black Water" it's another croc flick, it came out the same time as "Rogue", check it out
This is one of my favorite war-time dramas. The movie also has a gentle side about friendship, plus it's also a supenseful mystery. I enjoyed this film a lot, the story is amazing.
B13: Banlieue 13 (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Screw the plot, eff the character development. Sometimes, just sometimes, I want to indulge myself with a roundhousekicktotheface action film. I usually grab this DVD when that mood strikes. Good stuff.

The plot is silly, but the action is insane. The movie does what it's suppose to do, thrill the audience.
Companeros (product link) Western / Comedy While "The Great Silence" is superb, this film is definitely worth owning. It's among my top 5 westerns. Corbucci is so underrated.
yes, I agree with you. The movie does suck. The original "Lost Boys" was fun & nostalgic of the 80's, the sequel fails on many levels. The fun & originallity is lacking. Again, agree w/ your statment.
I enjoyed this Korean film a lot. The movie is for men & women, I remember the girl I saw it with cried at the end. The action is done well too, hey check out the director's other work Tae Guk Gi if you haven't already.
Mad Detective (product link) Drama / Crime I went into this film with low expectations only to be blown away. This is one of the more original and all around solid films I've seen outta' Hong Kong in awhile.

Same here I had low expectations, but completely blown away by the story, characters and pacing with a great score this movie was a blast.
Subway (product link) Crime / Action/Adventure It's amazing to see how far along Luc Besson has come along as a director. Fans of Besson's work should definitely watch this film in some format.

An 80's Luc Besson film is great cinema and "Subway" it's a wild & crazy ride that was fun.
Leon (product link) Crime / Drama Luc Besson at the top of his game. This is the film that introduced me to his career and afterward I was hooked.

Leon is a great film, the action & drama is very vibrant. Mr. Oldman did an amazing job as a corrupt cop- & Jean Reno as the lonely hitman w/ heart- it's a great film all around. U should check out Besson's "The Final Combat" it was his debut flick.
The Bicycle Thief (product link) Drama Hands down one of the greatest cinematic experiences. My father and I watched this film--which is rare because he and I never have those father and son moments--and when the end credits began to roll my dad was literally moved. I've never seen him cry in my entire life, but this film definitely sparked something in him. To those who suffered during their childhoods, who grew up poverty-stricken and understand the concept of family values, this movie really hits home.
I'm actually shocked there are no comments from customers for this masterpiece. I want to note that "Miracle In Milan" is also worth viewing. I haven't seen any of the other neo-realist films of De Sica, but I'm making an effort to see the majority of his work because this guy was way before his time.

5-star classic story- I agree with your review. Miracle in Milan was a nice too. Vittorio De Sica is a great director his other achievements are "The Children Are Watching Us", Umberto D." & "A Brief Vacation" just to name a few.
DOA: Dead Or Alive (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I'll give this film 1 star at least for featuring sexy girls in skimpy outfits, but this has to be one of the worst movies I have ever watched.

Eh, the film isn't that bad. It has its moments of glory every now and then. It ain't a masterpiece, for certain. But it's not totally bad. :-/
this movie features some tasty fight scenes, of course the plot is weak and some questionable rocket wielding stunts, but definately not a garbage movie
Jade Warrior (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure 'Jade Warrior' is the first martial arts film to come from Finland. Sounds intriguing eh?
Well, I think I may have made a mistake going into this film because I was convinced it was going to be a power house action film. I don't know about anyone else but when I read the words "martial arts" to describe a film I immediately picture action sequences like whoa!
In the end 'Jade Warrior' is more of a fantasy-drama. Make no mistake there are a few action sequences tossed in but be warned this is not a Finnish 'Hero'.

I have to agree with you there, this film didn't cut it as a martial arts film, and the fantasty-drama elements left me bored.
