The Boston Strangler (product link) Horror / Thriller From a “True Life Documentary” point of view, this film gave us the exact information that we have on the Boston Strangler: not a f’n thing! I guess if you know nothing about the case, it doesn’t matter. David Faustino came across just like Bud Bundy ("Married With Children"). I didn’t think “Boston Strangler” when I saw him in that role. In real life, authorities say there could have been at least six different killers. This flick gave us Nassar and DeSalvo. Just seeing Bud Bundy hella' hardcore was funny as hell though. You be the judge. For me. it just didn’t work.
SPL: Sha Po Lang (product link) Crime / Drama Yes!! This is the first Sammo Hung film I've seen that I really enjoyed. Although Sammo played a villian, he played it exceptionally well. Donnie Yen (not my favorite actor) also played his part well. The choreography was also excecuted very well. 4 stars for SPL. Way to go Sammo!!!!
Charles Manson Superstar (product link) Documentary Charlie, Charlie, Charlie… This documentary is by far one of the most entertaining in the genre. Manson holds no punches when it comes to why he feels he’s been incarcerated. This dude is really off his rocker!! Although at times he seems to be a comedian, he still--even at his age now--comes across as a very dangerous man. Manson’s story is well known. But, just as a refresher, this is must-see TV.
War (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts This was one terrific roller coaster ride of a movie. Jet Li and Jason Statham were both surprisingly strong in these roles. The story began with Crawford‘s (Statham) partner being assassinated by a yakuza hit man named Rogue (Li), but who actually wasn’t murdered at all. WTF? The good guy turned out to be the bad guy, and vice versa.
The fight scenes were exceptional, the plot was strong, and special effects were kept at a minimum. Being a true lover of action movies, I highly recommend this film.
Brother [HK DD5.1 Uncut] (product link) Crime / Thriller Uh, don’t think so. This movie reminded me of my favorite dentist--the way he administers all of my favorite anesthesia-free procedures. Or better yet, a bad pick-up line with a nice shot of Bacardi 151 to the eyes. The DOP (director of photography) seemed as if he was afraid to push the violence envelope. Every scene where I thought it was time to see some bloodshed, he left me hanging. There were a lot of guns and gunshots, but all I got in the end was a bunch of guys we assume got shot. How about following some of that hot lead all the way through the exit wound? CSI Miami gave me more satisfaction.
If you’re looking for a sensitive-gangster not-quite mafia flick, look no further. This flick is a “Frozen One”.

Liking this movie is as hard to do as Kanye West making a beat without a sample.
Tony Jaa (Phanom Yeerom) stopped at nothing to please the die-hard martial arts film fanatics. All of the jaw-dropping stunts were performed by him. The plot didn’t really hold much water. But who really wants a side order of love with their “Tony Jaa Kick-A** Combo”? Hands down TJ is the premiere MA action star. This flick is a “Chosen One”.
