This is a film that seems to divide opinions strongly. Being an anime and manga fan probably helps a lot. Sure, it isn't "great", but I enjoyed it.

After hearing a lot of positive hype about this, I decided to check this out. It has some very inventive visuals and many great scenes. I liked the languid pace but in some places would have appreciated tighter editing. Hideaki Anno makes a cameo here by the way.

Starts off as a typical teen movie, but gains momentum along the way. The musical performance makes it all worthwhile. The theme song is very catchy. I still haven't got it out of my head.

Tetsuya Nakashima (Shimotsuma Monogatari/Kamikaze Girls) exceeds expectations once again with this visually and aurally breathtaking film. A tragicomedy musical is definitely something you don't see every day. Totally worth it!
