Naked Weapon (product link) Crime / Thriller I wasn't sure what to expect from a Wong Jing movie with the word "Naked" in it. This one goes way over the top, even for a WJ production!
The girls look great, the action plentiful. I was not disappointed. The storyline is pretty much secondary to the MTV effects.
The Banquet (product link) Drama / Action/Adventure I really enjoyed this movie even though it resembles "Curse of the Golden Flower". Very sensual and dark at times. Great performances by all.

I really did not enjoy this Fu "Hamlet" remake outing, the story was all over missing Shakespear's true version. The action choreography was top notch though, but the film as whole is overlong, plus this is not an action packed film.
Loving You (product link) Drama / Romance Misleading title. This is an action movie all the way. Great plot and acting. It's a love story with a twist.
Flash Point (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Great movie. Lots of action and sympathetic characters. A little slow and confusing at first but really takes off.

The story is simple. The film is a little slow at times, but the climatic ending is worth the wait.
New Police Story (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts One of Jackie's best films ever. The action and stunts were great. Very sympathetic characters and good acting make it a great viewing experience. Entertaining from the first scene to the last.

This is the best Jackie Chan movie I've seen thus far, so I totally agree.
Police Story 3: Supercop (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Just about the best Jackie Chan movie ever. When I saw it in SF Chinatown I couldn't believe it. Watch the Chinese version on DVD -- especially the NG scenes.

Not even close to Jackies best. I wouldn't even rate this in his top 8 or 9.
All About Ah Long [Joy Sales] (product link) Drama One of Chow Yun-Fat's best movies. An almost overly dramatic story but very believable. The flashback scenes add a nice touch to the movie.
A Better Tomorrow (product link) Action/Adventure / Bullet Ballet My introduction to HK movies in the 80s. I've seen it dozens of times but still cannot believe how awesome this movie is.
In The Line Of Duty 4 (product link) Martial Arts / Girls With Guns This is a great action movie, just like the others in this series. Donnie Yen and Michael Wong make a good team. Cynthia Yang alway looks and fights GREAT. Buy this one.
Royal Warriors (product link) Martial Arts / Girls With Guns Part of the "In The Line Of Duty" series, this is one of the best of all HK action movies. Michelle Yeoh is great in this one. There's plenty of action with the scenes in the airplane. Top notch.
Police Story 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy This movie is somewhat ignored, even though it is just as good as the first and third. Jackie returns with Maggie Cheung and Uncle Bill. The martial arts are some of Jackie's best.
Police Story (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy After the failed PROTECTOR film, Jackie did it right this time. All action, especially the finale. Get your remote ready for slow motion because you will want to see this many times.
Police Story (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy If you are new to HK film, this is the place to start. Great action and a good story. Stay away from the dubbed versions such as POLICE FORCE. You can watch this many times, especially the finale.
Righting Wrongs (product link) Girls With Guns / Martial Arts This is one of the best HK actioners. It can be brutal at times, but it's a great movie overall. I wish Yuen Biao and Cynthia Rothrock had made more movies together.
Legendary Assassin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I found this very entertaining. Wu Jing is always very watchable with the low-key characters he plays. A little over-dramatic at times and with maybe a little too much CGI fu, "Legendary Assassin" is better than most films of this genre.
My Dear Son (product link) Drama / Crime Not a perfect movie, but the performancess by Maggie, Jacky and Uncle Bill make it worth watching. Very touching at times.
As Tears Go By (product link) Drama / Triad Great acting from Andy Lau and Maggie Cheung. Jackie Chueng is his usual over-the-top self. One of the first HK dramas I ever watched. The only problem is the ending: it didn't make much sense. Still an unforgettable film.
Asian Connection (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime One of Danny Lee's better films. Not just another buddy cop movie. Lots of action with good chemistry between Lee and his Tawainese partner who unfortunately likes to use the "f" word all the time.
A Hearty Response (product link) Drama / Romance This is a mixed bag, somewhat typical of Hong Kong films made in this period. Very entertaining at times, especially the action-packed ending. Chow and his partner, singer Lui Fong, make a good team. The scenes with Chow and Joey Wong are also charming at times. Some of the violent scenes make me uneasy though. They kind of spoil the movie, but you can always scan through these. Worth a look at Chow's early films.
Infernal Affairs (product link) Drama / Crime Sorry to disagree with everyone, but I was disappointed in this film. Too many scenes with people standing around or talking on their cell phones. I liked the last half with a dramatic ending, but something was missing. Maybe I'm spoiled by watching action films like "In The Line Of Duty".
No Compromise (product link) Drama / Crime Underrated Action movie with Danny Lee. Very intense at times. Good story with good characters. David Lam always makes a good villain.
The Inspector Wears Skirts 2 (product link) Action/Adventure / Girls With Guns Not a great movie, but still enough action and comedy to keep you interested. Plus the girls all look great. Even Sandra Ng!
Shinjuku Incident (product link) Crime / Drama I know a lot of people will disagree, but I would like this film a lot more if Jackie wasn't in it. He is totally out of place and out of character. He made the type of move he said he would NEVER make! What happened to "Project A" and all the other fun movies he used to make? I agree with my web friends that somebody like Frances Li would have made a better lead.
No U-Turn (product link) Drama This is a very dated, old Hong Kong comedy that is still fun to watch. Some tasteless jokes but a somewhat charming film at times.
The Bodyguard From Beijing (product link) Action/Adventure / Romance When I saw this in SF Chinatown at first I didn't recognize Li with hair! The movie is okay, but there's no magic between Li and Christy Cheung. The fighting scenes are pretty cool but can't save an average film. Still better than the original.
Cannonball Run (product link) Comedy / Action/Adventure Mildly entertaining. Watch it only to see Jackie Chan. This is the movie that inspired Jackie to include NG scenes (out-takes) in his movies.
So Close (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I hope your DVD player has a fast-forward scan (20X) like mine. You'll need it. A few good CGI action sequences but that's all. A dumb plot dooms this wannabe action movie. The girls look great but they can't save a bad film. Watch "Naked Weapon" instead.
Killer's Nocturne (product link) Crime / Drama A mean and vicious movie. I like Alex Man as a villain, but in this one he is just too mean and sadistic. Too mean-spirited even for an HK movie. Skip this one.
100 Ways To Murder Your Wife (product link) Drama / Comedy A very silly movie but still a lot of fun to watch. Chow Yun-Fat is his usual over-the-top self. Anita Mui and Joey Wang also add to the story. A lot of people don't like this movie, but not every HK movie has to be A BETTER TOMORROW.
Undercover Hidden Dragon (product link) Comedy / Crime Pretty lame comedy. Not very funny even though it tries hard. The girls look great but that won't save this film. The karaoke scene is the only scene worth watching.
Tiger On Beat 2 (product link) Bullet Ballet / Comedy This movie is a mess. Not funny or exiting like part one. Danny Lee just cannot replace Chow Yun-Fat. Only interesting thing is Conan Lee's missed stunt.
City Cops (product link) Crime / Action/Adventure Watch this only if you need to see Cynthia. The film is BORING. You keep waiting for something to happen, but it never does.
Lost In Beijing (product link) Drama A piece of TRASH. No wonder the Chinese government banned this crap. They were embarrassed. I've always loved Mainland China films, but not this. Unlikeable characters, horrible camerawork, and bad acting. Don't waste your time on this garbage.
Tiger On Beat 2 (product link) Bullet Ballet / Comedy This is a sad sequel to "Tiger On Beat". Nothing works in this film. Unfunny, no action except for Conan Lee's failed stunt. Especially missing is Chow Yun Fat.
