Thunder Kick (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is just bad in so many ways. Boring story, bland kung fu, and the [Tai Seng DVD] print has focus problems. There is nothing good about this movie except to see a young Bolo (for about 1 minute). I've warned you, now stay away!
Wheels On Meals (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy I expect more from a movie which stars Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao. This movie is really a waste of incredible kung fu talent. The only thing that kept this from 0 stars is the Chan vs. Urquidez fight. If you must see the Chan vs. Urquidez fight, rent this movie and scene-select to the fight. The rest of this movie is a waste of time. Really awful.
Mate, I fully disagree with your half star for this one, it has everything you need for a classic Jackie Chan film, his brothers - Sammo & Biao, silly comedy, action, and some stunts.
Hanuman: The White Monkey Warrior (product link) Martial Arts / Fantasy Let's see...the story was confusing and dumb, the martial arts were lame and CGI-infused, and the only way you could tell that the lead was "The White Monkey Warrior" was because he scratched behind his ears like a monkey from time to time. Throw in some bad acting and you get a movie that I recommend you stay away from at all costs. Don't say I didn't warn you.
The Fate Of Lee Khan (product link) Martial Arts / Drama I don't care who (Hu) directed it, this movie was boring. There was one fight and that was the last scene. That fight was pretty good, which makes this 1 star, but other then that this was 107 minutes of nothing happening. I don't recommend this to anyone.

I agree. It was so uneventful that it became hard to sit through. I don't recommend this one either.
Kung Fu, The Invisible Fist [10-Movie Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure After reading the other reviews I was hoping that this was going to be a great film. Well, I fell asleep twice during this one, which shows you how good it is. Lots of talk about fighting, but nothing happens. The end fight which is supposed to be so kick ass, features the Japanese guy running away as the Chinese hero chases after him. If you want a great movie featuring the Chinese and Japanese squaring off, watch Shaolin and Wu Tang. Another good movie is Lady Kung Fu. Stay away from this turkey unless you run out of sleeping pills.
Rage Of The Masters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Although the bodycount is endless, this is a terrible movie featuring Wang Yu. I think there were about three people who actually looked like they had practiced martial arts; the rest were just flunkies to add to the bodycount. Add in absolutely horrible dubbing and wirework that was so bad it's laugh out loud funny. This started out with some promise, even though you've seen the "you killed my father, revenge is mine" storyline. I am a fan of Wang Yu, but this was barely tolerable to sit through.
The Assassin [1967] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This started out like it was going to be another Wang Yu classic, but after the first 30 minutes of solid action, the movie moved at a galcier's pace for the next hour and 20 minutes. I understand that they were trying to build the love story and Jimmy obtaining wealth, but again, where's the action? The finale is classic Wang Yu, but in a two-hour movie, is 40 minutes of action enough? Sorry, the answer for me is no.
He Has Nothing But Kung Fu [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure With the cast of Gordon Liu, Wilson Tong, and Lam Ching-Ying, I thought this would be a "can't miss" classic; but this movie is awful in many ways. Start with an annoying lead actor (Wang Yue), unfunny comedy with a stupid plot, bad dubbing [on the version I watched], and the list goes on. Two stars for Gordon Liu and that's about it. You would think a fight between Tong and Liu would be cool, but it's just lame like the rest of this movie. And can anyone explain why the hell the tune "Dixie" is played continuously throughout this flick?

- sort of. I enjoyed it a bit more than you did, but every objection you make is correct. It'
Blade Of Fury (product link) Martial Arts / Swordplay/Sword(s) I didn't care for this one at all. I can handle the flying and jumping around if it is done well, but it just looks ridiculous in this movie. The movie seems to drag on forever (I fell asleep twice watching it) and is just not interesting. I give it two stars only for Ti Lung, but even he can't save this one.

The film is difficult to follow, somehow, and perhaps not worth the effort.
Eagle Vs. Silver Fox [Ground Zero] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Hwang Jang Lee is great, there's just not enough of him in this movie. Mix in some lame comedy and bad dubbing and you have a subpar movie. Two stars only for Lee's performance.
36 Crazy Fists (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This film has everything one could hate in a kung fu movie: a teacher that speaks with a chipmunk voice, cartoon sound effects when people get hit, poor film quality, and the list goes on. However, the action and acrobatics of the lead actor are actually pretty decent and the story isn't bad, although nothing we haven't seen before. Don't look for Jackie Chan in this one either. I guess another big plus is that this is a relatively short movie. I don't recommend this one unless you have nothing else to watch.

The title was clearly an attempt to cash in on Jackie's name
Tabanfire (product link) Martial Arts / Thriller Although I was impressed with Dan Chupong's abilities, this movie isn't very good. I don't prefer the supernatural mixed in with my martial arts, and to watch a guy ride on a rocket was just too silly for my liking. I recommend you stay away from this one.
The Kung Fu Emperor (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A snoozer from Ti Lung. This may be his worst movie. I'm a big Ti Lung fan, but I can't recommend this, unless like me you just want to add it to your collection.

yea, definately a dud but I still think Inheritor of Kung Fu was his biggest bomb
Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars (product link) Comedy / Martial Arts How do you make a movie with the likes of Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan, Richard Norton, Yasuaki Kurata, and Chung Fat nearly unbearable to watch? Easy, add four morons who want to do nothing but grope women and act like they're the three stooges (or four stooges, I guess).
This movie has some fantastic fight scenes--the fight in the Pepsi factory and the end fight where Sammo takes on Richard Norton and then Yasuaki Kurata are unbelievable--but over 80% of this flick is concerned with the four annoying morons trying to feel up anyone they can find.
I have to recommend this movie due to the amazing action sequences (these aren't the only solid fight scenes), but by all means have the remote handy to forward through the comedy bullshit and have patience. The fights are honestly that good.

When I'm in the mood, I do like comedy, but this did push the envelope a little too much. The action sequences like you stated are quite amazing!
Zu: Warriors From The Magic Mountain (product link) Fantasy / Action/Adventure I tried to watch it twice and give it a chance, I really did, but fell asleep both times. This movie has nice visuals (especially for the time it was released), but the story just...put me to sleep. The performances were fine, but the story...put me to sleep. I am a fan of Yuen Biao, but if I can't stay awake while viewing, how can I give it more than 2 1/2 stars?

I might rate this slightly higher, but it really is hard to make much of the plot.
Drunken Tai Chi (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I am in the miniority of people that didn't care for this movie. The ultra low budget really killed this for me, as well as there being more comedy than fighting. It was really weird seeing Donnie Yen doing comedy; I can't remember any other movie of his where he does comedy. The few fight scenes Donnie has are pretty good, there just weren't enough of them for me.
Swordman 2 (product link) Swordplay/Sword(s) / Martial Arts I guess I'm in the miniority of people that just didn't care for this movie. The fights weren't very entertaining and everybody flying around just ruined it for me. This was more of a fantasy movie then a martial arts movie. I was rather bored and disappointed watching this one.
Enter The Fat Dragon (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Sammo does a great Bruce Lee impersonation and all, but the movie itself is pretty bad. There are lots of gaps with no action, so you're just left watching a bad movie. I'm a big Sammo fan and I still wouldn't recommend it.
The End Of The Wicked Tiger (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This one is just average. It wasn't a bad flick, but there certainly wasn't anything in it to make me recommend it, even though Sammo has a very minor role in it. Sammo certainly was not "starring" in this one. The kung fu in this is just blah.
The Chinese Boxer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I guess I'm supposed to believe that all it takes to be a kung fu expert is to learn how to jump over a pole and stick your hands into hot gravel a few times!! There's no need to learn from a master, you can figure it out yourself!!! That's how Wang Yu goes from flunky to badass. And who's idea was it to have Wang Yu run around wearing a surgical mask and oven mitts on his hand. The only thing that puts this flick at 2 1/2 stars is Lo Lieh, who once again is awesome as a villain. Oh, he plays a Japanese villain (groan). I don't recommended this at all.

As you realize, there are time barriers between scenes. I think it took him longer to elevate his iron palm and light skills. Be coherent in future.
I love this film, it is one of the first hand-to-hand martial arts movies to be made (coming from Jimmy Wang Yu), fantastic film! With your typical chinese taking on the evil japanese.
Pedicab Driver (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy I'm a big fan of Sammo's and I was fairly disappointed with this movie. I agree with the other reviewers that stated that there was way too much talking and not enough action. Sammo's fight with Lau Kar-Leung is awesome and that's what brings this up to 2 1/2 stars. Only recommended for fans of Sammo.
The Silver Spear (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A very strange movie which changes directions at every turn, including an ending where our hero fights a vampire!!! A little too odd to be taken seriously, but what really hurts this movie is the poor quality of the print [on the version I saw]. In scenes filmed at night or where characters are fighting in dark rooms, the characters are barely visible (you hear the characters fighting, but can't really see them). A better print may have helped bring it to 3 or 3.5 stars, but this still isn't anything but average.
The Blonde Fury (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts There just weren't enough fights in this to make it anything but average, and that's too bad because when the fights do happen they are very entertaining. Rothrock is very good in this as well, there's just too much dead time in between fights.
Yes, Madam! (product link) Martial Arts / Girls With Guns The action and stunts are top notch in this flick, but there's way to much time given to the shenanigans of Shum, Moi, and Hark in the name of comic relief. It's a shame more time wasn't spent with Yeoh and Rothrock because they were excellent.
Hero Of The Time [4-Movie Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The action in this is quite good and the story is decent enough, but I think I have found one of the most annoying characters I have ever watched in Flash Legs' drunken sidekick. I nearly shut this off at the halfway point because I just couldn't stand it anymore. Besides the drunken sidekick, there's plenty of other really bad comedy laced throughout this as well. That's too bad because some of the fight scenes are solid and the story has a nice twist to it, but this has some really dumb comedy which ruins this film overall. Watch at your own risk.
Sukiyaki Western Django (product link) Action/Adventure / Western This was very stylish and had potential to be a really cool flick, but I just couldn't get past the language issue. I kept straining trying to understand, and I believe I missed a good deal of what was really going on in the process. I'll give it another viewing and maybe it'll be easier the second time around, but for now I can only give it 3 stars.

Your ear and mine are about the same. The concept and physical action are good, but the phonetic line reading is awful.
Like many that have commented before me on this movie, I was a little (well maybe more than a little actually) disapointed in this movie. This is not the worst martial arts movie I have ever seen, as some have said, but I also won't be plopping it into the DVD player for countless viewings. A few things I did enjoy watching was Jackie doing drunken style and some of his best humor scenes I've seen from him in quite awhile (I dislike the "Rush Hour" series, which to me underutilizes Chan and seriously overutilizes the totally annoying Chris Tucker--please gag him already). I didn't care for the Monkey King character at all, and there was more flying around in this one then "The Wizard Of Oz".
For me a 3-star rating is an average flick and that's what I found this to be: average. Like others, I was hoping the pairing of Chan and Li for the first time would be historic, but unfortunately, this falls way short.

I agree completely with your assessment of the Rush Hour series.
Shadowless Sword (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I pretty much agree with Bastard Ronin that this film leaves a lot to be desired. I thought the storyline was quite interesting and the actors did a solid job, but every fight sequence has everyone flying around instead of just fighting. Had they kept the fight scenes "grounded", this could have been a much better movie. Too much wirework for my liking, but overall not a bad flick just one that overdid the wirework.
I completely feel you on this one but you probably already knew that. Like a sandwich from Subway this movie could have had a little more overall substance.
The Phantom Kung Fu (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This film had potential but it just got too stupid for its own good. I thought Chang Yi and Wong Tao were good, but the two characters who displayed the Mantis and Monkey style weren't even in the movie for very long. It's worth viewing once, but I advise going in with low expectations and this film just might meet them.
Wu Tang Witch [DOUBLE FEATURE] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Pretty good sword flick with an interesting plot and quite a bit of wire work thrown in. My real complaint is that the subtitles [on the version I watched] were in white, making it virtually impossible to read them in many places. Still, this is worth a look.
The Four Invincibles (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie was okay, nothing really great to say about it but nothing really bad to say about it either. This type of movie is always interesting (disabled kung fu), but the kung fu in this one is just average.
Drunken Monkey (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a tough one to rate. Lau Kar Leung and Gordon Liu (in a small role) are outstanding and fun to watch. The younger cast mates are trying but this movie just seems to drag too much in the middle to be considered anything more then average.

Director Lau's handling of himself and the veteran actors was quite good; His handling of the three young co-stars was awkward and unfunny.
I'm with you and Mad Monkey on this one. This flick just failed to utilize its full potential. I also agree that t is not total garbage. It does have a degree of charm but it is altogether just so-so.
I concur. This movie was hailed as the first real martial arts movie of the millennium done in old-school style. It was a huge disappointment. I thought the choreography was lackluster. It should have been great, combining monkey & drunken kung fu.
Millionaires' Express (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts There's very little action in this movie until the very end. The comedy was actually okay, but I thought there would be a lot more action.

I liked this much more than you did. The action seemed sufficient, and the stunt cameos were worthwhile.
Two Assassins Of Darkness (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not what I was expecting from Wang Tao or Chang Yi. Not a bad movie, but with these two stars in it I expected a whole lot more. This was just okay.
Iron Chain Assassin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not one of Ti Lung's better movies. The big "plot twist" was highly predictable and I hated the ending. Nothing really great about this one.

It's largely a matter of whether or not one is a strong Ti Lung fan. I am - but you are right about the obviousness of the ending. It just didn't bother me quite as much as it did you.
The Challenger (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This would have been graded a lot higher had they decided to leave out the really bad comedy scenes. I have to say the comedy in this is just plain awful in spots, but some of the fights are just too good to rate this below average. I normally like David Chiang, but his character was really annoying, although both Norman Chu and Phillip Ko Fei are outstanding. Overall a mixed bag, which is too bad considering the cast.
