Bio: I really prefer the older movies and I've been watching alot of Fu Sheng and Ti Lung films lately. No matter how many films I watch, my favorite is still Sammo.

Chinese Super Ninja (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure If you like old school Kung Fu with a lot of action, then this movie is for you. It has lots of great fighting scenes and is really a fun movie. The plot may seem a little hokey, but the action more then makes up for what may lack in the plot. Definitely recommend.
Six Heroic Figures (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie could have received a higher rating but the actor portraying the "idiot" ruins the flow of the movie early on by being just plain annoying. As the movie progresses the kung fu action is very good however redeeming this movie.
Return Of The 5 Deadly Venoms (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a great movie, though it's not really a sequel and there's only four Venoms--but still great nonetheless. May even be better then the original "5 Deadly Venoms", but being that the two movies aren't really related (other than by name), they should be judged on their own merit.

I just think of it as "Crippled Avengers," and enjoy it tremendously. I am not usually a fan of Chiang Sheng, but the conceit of his character's affliction is an excellent use of him.

This was in the first five HK films I bought, and it is still one of the best. The Celestial and other Chinese language versions are much better than the English dub.
Magnificent Wanderers (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not bad, but not near as good as it should have been. A movie with Alexander Fu Sheng, David Chiang and the Venoms should have been great. Be warned: the Venoms do not show up until nearly the end, and you've got to strain to see them.
Wheels On Meals (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy I expect more from a movie which stars Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao. This movie is really a waste of incredible kung fu talent. The only thing that kept this from 0 stars is the Chan vs. Urquidez fight. If you must see the Chan vs. Urquidez fight, rent this movie and scene-select to the fight. The rest of this movie is a waste of time. Really awful.
Mate, I fully disagree with your half star for this one, it has everything you need for a classic Jackie Chan film, his brothers - Sammo & Biao, silly comedy, action, and some stunts.

Jack and Mark Long weren't in a whole lot of good films, but this one has many charms. Carter Wong, not a versatile actor, is well cast.
Odd Couple (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy One of Sammo's best!! Sammo and Lau Kar Wing are awesome as old rivals and as students trained by each rival. Tons of great fight scenes and great use of weapons. The comedy bogs the action down a little at times, which prevents this from being a 5-star film. Highly recommended.
Ninja In The Deadly Trap (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Very underrated movie. Be warned: there's lots of wirework in this one, which may turn some people off. Lots of great action though. Highly recommended.

The obviously low budget doesn't do much to distract from this film's moderate charms. It's no masterpiece, but I like the leading actors.

It's largely a matter of whether or not one is a strong Ti Lung fan. I am - but you are right about the obviousness of the ending. It just didn't bother me quite as much as it did you.
The Silver Spear (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A very strange movie which changes directions at every turn, including an ending where our hero fights a vampire!!! A little too odd to be taken seriously, but what really hurts this movie is the poor quality of the print [on the version I saw]. In scenes filmed at night or where characters are fighting in dark rooms, the characters are barely visible (you hear the characters fighting, but can't really see them). A better print may have helped bring it to 3 or 3.5 stars, but this still isn't anything but average.
Avenging Warriors Of Shaolin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure It's kinda hard not to like a movie with Lo Meng, Phillip Kwok, Lu Feng and Chiang Sheng in it. Great action, and if you are a Venoms fan you'll enjoy this one.
The Fatal Flying Guillotines [3-Disc Set] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Poor production values hurt this one (this is really low budget) from being a top tier movie. This is a fun movie however with a great villain.
The Magnificent Butcher (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Another great performance by Sammo. This is one of his better movies. I balk at saying it's the greatest kung fu movie of all time, but this is an excellent flick. Highly recommended.

I'd go so far as to say it's the best film starring Sammo Hung - and that's saying quite a bit.

Shaolin Martial Arts (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not bad, but not really good either. I just couldn't get into this one. I felt Gordon Liu was wasted and Fu Sheng's performance was just okay. A lot of time between fights [was spent with] Fu Sheng flirting with a girl. Only recommended if you're a Fu Sheng fan or you're topping off your Gordon Liu collection.

I'm a sucker for the "train hard and get revenge" genre, and like the cast. Yes, the plot is rather episodic, but that's OK.
Two Assassins Of Darkness (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not what I was expecting from Wang Tao or Chang Yi. Not a bad movie, but with these two stars in it I expected a whole lot more. This was just okay.
Killer Army [Ground Zero] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure If you're a Venoms fan, you'll love this movie. If you're not a Venoms fan (???), you'll still enjoy this movie. Phillip Kwok, Chiang Sheng, Lo Fung and my favorite Lo Meng are all here. Loads of action and a solid plot, although with the Venoms, the plot is not neccesarily that important. Very, very good movie and highly recommended.

I don't really care for non-Venoms fans' opinions! This isn't my favorite Venoms film, but nearly all of them are quite good.
The Kung Fu Emperor (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A snoozer from Ti Lung. This may be his worst movie. I'm a big Ti Lung fan, but I can't recommend this, unless like me you just want to add it to your collection.

Five Superfighters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is really a fun "old school" kung fu movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the villain known as the "Kung Fu Corrector". The action was good and the comedy didn't ruin the flow of the movie (like some kung fu comedies so often do). Highly recommended.

It's the first film I know of in which JC played it straight. Considering his relative youth at the time, he did a very good job of the dramatic end: It goes without saying the action is high quality.

I agree that it doesn't quite come up to the first film, but it's still a legitimate five stars.
Once Upon A Time In China 3 (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts This movie is a considerable drop-off from the first two in the series. The plot shifts more toward the love interest between Jet Li and his cousin (which kinda' creeps me out). There are a couple great action sequences, however, just not as many as in the first two movies.

Four stars is fair. If Rosamund Kwan were anything more distant than my second cousin I wouldn't quibble about consanguinity. WF-h should have moved on her sooner!
I agree with the comment above me. The leon dance has a little too much emphasis put on it for my liking. While in both OUTIC and OUTIC 2 we have epic final showdowns this one felt like an anti-climax.

The Secret Rivals 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure In my opinion this movie is better than the first, although I prefer Wong Tao over Tino Wong. It really doesn't matter though because Hwang Jang Lee steals the show once again!! This movie is loaded with great action and superb fight scenes. Highly recommended.

I like 1 and 2 about equally. Hwang Jang Lee is just too good to imagine EVER losing.
The Secret Rivals (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I feel this movie is a bit over-hyped, and I believe the sequel to be much better then the original (I gave the sequel 5 stars)! It takes quite awhile for the action to really start, and some of the scenes starring John Liu and Wong Tao are really cheesy looking. However, Hwang Jang Lee's performance as Silver Fox is awesome; and the final fight scene with Lee, Liu and Tao should not be missed. If you take the time to watch this one, be sure to check out the sequel which, as I stated earlier, is far better and picks up right where this one leaves off.

This is an excellent showcase for Hwang Jang Lee's abundant abilities. Wong Tao is good, but John Liu's kicks seem to lack the kind of impact Hwang Jang Lee's have galore.
Lady Kung Fu (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This one starts a litle slow, with a lot of talk about hapkido; but stick with it, because it has some pretty good fight scenes later on. Angela Mao, Carter Wong and Sammo (in a non-comedic role) are all worth watching in this one, although make no mistake about it, Mao is the star of this movie. The Japanese vs. Chinese storyine is really nothing new though.

The Flag Of Iron (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not the best Venoms movie, but still worth seeing. The action scenes are very good, but the constant dialogue slows the movie down. Venoms fans will see a lot of familiar faces.
The Shaolin Avengers [1976] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a great movie, but it sure felt like I had seen some of the exact scenes in "Men From The Monastery". Nevertheless, Fu Sheng and Chi Kuan-Chun make a great team once again. Highly recommended.

The plot has been recycled many times, but these stars give excellent performances. I recommend this highly.
The Savage 5 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie definitely has the feel of a spaghetti western, including the background music. I would have preferred if they didn't bring guns into the storyline toward the end, but that's a minor complaint. This film is really cool and the action is quite good also.
The Avenging Eagle (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of the best Fu Sheng - Ti Lung collaborations. I actually liked the storyline, and the action was very good. Highly recommended.

Ti Lung is his usual excellent self, and Fu Sheng gives a much more fully formed character than usual. I like this quite a bit.

Lo Lieh does a great job in a rare heroic role. The choreography shows its age, but so what? It's very worthwhile.
A Slice Of Death (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I usually like David Chiang, but I thought this movie was okay at best. With the exception of the last fight scene, the fight scenes were slow and calculated. Lo Lieh was great as always, this time portraying Pai Mai.
Along Comes The Tiger (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Pretty good movie that has a western movie feel to it. Could have been better, but worth having in your collection.
Pedicab Driver (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy I'm a big fan of Sammo's and I was fairly disappointed with this movie. I agree with the other reviewers that stated that there was way too much talking and not enough action. Sammo's fight with Lau Kar-Leung is awesome and that's what brings this up to 2 1/2 stars. Only recommended for fans of Sammo.
The Iron Monkey [1977] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Chen Kuan Tai's performance is what stands out in this movie. This story has been told many times before, but he makes it worth watching. Definitely recommended for those that like old school kung fu.

Without Chen Kuan Tai, this would have been very ordinary. With him, it's quite good.
