My Young Auntie (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Great culture conflict comedy and there are some great fight scenes, but the real action is the cultural mashup.
Pantyhose Hero (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not PC but, then again, neither were "Popeye", "Tom & Jerry", "Betty Boop"... If you like Sammo, get this.
Pedicab Driver (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy A real winner, and the Sammo v. Lau Kar scene is a good one. A good mix of drama, fisticuffs, and action.
Those Merry Souls (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy It's Soultaker plus...? A real mixed-up Chinese spook-a-rama that's filled with plenty of talented folks who have shown up in films like "Shanghai Express", "Wheels On Meals", etc. Lots of fun.
Crazy Safari (product link) Comedy / Action/Adventure Just plain strange but, if you are a fan of the hopping vampire genre, a must-see. Lam Ching Nam and N'Xau are a real pair.
Legend Of The Mountain (product link) Fantasy / Martial Arts King Hu goes to the my short list of directors with this one. It is like a collection of those light-filled Chinese paintings--that beautifully tells a supernatural tale. If you want slam-bang pacing, this isn't for you. But if you can wait a bit to have the flavor unfold, I think you'll be pleased.
Jade Warrior (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is a special movie. I love the Kalevala upon which this is based, and this film ties that together with its own Asian spin to create a really different film. It is beautifully shot and well acted. If you want to get beyond the usual fare, this is it!
The Owl Vs. Bombo (product link) Comedy / Crime 4 stars because, even though the plot is a bit forced, you get to see Sammo do a wild variety of martial arts, dancing, and comedy. I should have known that anyone who could choreograph multiple fighters would have the skills to dance well...The pop star who is his "buddy" is also fun to watch.
Aces Go Places DVD Collection [5-Disc Set] (product link) Comedy / Action/Adventure My initial rating would have been 2 stars...but it has continued to grow on me.
There are plenty of wacky crime/spy/action gags to go around, and some fun cameos. What really grabbed me were the off-the-wall stunts (a few old-school effects, but the big ones are the real deal). The key actors all keep the styles of the roles they are given and generate a weird chemistry that works.
This is a multi-disc set, and 1, 2, and 4 are stronger than 3, even though 3 is directed by Tsui Hark, a director I like.
I'll be seeing this one again - and by that time, it may be up to 4 or more stars.
Hex After Hex (product link) Ghost / Thriller More wackiness than the second but somehow not as much fun...but I love the series and this rounds it out nicely.
Hex Vs. Witchcraft (product link) Horror / Comedy This film features an unforgettable loser who is well acted...and some funky, sexy, spooky fun. Different from "Hex" but great in its own right.
Magic Cop (product link) Ghost / Comedy Very good Lam Ching-Ying film. Good action, good special effects...humor and spooky combo as only the Chinese seem to be able to do it.
Drunken Tai Chi (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Yuen Wo Ping wacky, with great, inventive fights and funky special effects. Suspend your disbelief and watch this one, preferably with that Bucktooth Jane gal from "Kung Fu Hustle"...
Hex (product link) Horror / Thriller I truly love Kobayashi's films - especially "Kwaidan". Many have "borrowed" or ripped off an incredible scene of his from the "Hoichi the Earless" segment...this one does, too - but, like Jimi Hendrix taking a blues riff and then tossing it into a black hole, get ready for a wild ride with this one! This goes from atmospheric to sinister to...well, buy this one, and if you disagree, drop me a line.
Finger Of Doom (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Ivy Ling-Po is one of my all time favorite actresses, even though most of the time she plays male romantic leads.
Her skill is on full display here along with a solid cast and good directing. Tired of "Gorno" films - check this out!

i couldn't agree more this is a good movie i think ivy ling po is one of the finest actress's ever.i would highly recommend this classic.
Big Boobs Buster (product link) Comedy / Erotica "Andrei Rublev", "Nosferatu", "Umbrellas of Cherbourg", "North by Northwest", "Market Lazarova"--those are classic films. This ain't, but is total Japan-o-silly with an overdeveloped heroine and an underdeveloped plot. If you need subtitles, keep on movin'.
Hocus Pocus (product link) Horror / Ghost I can't get enough of Lam Ching-Ying, that unibrow priest from "Mr. Vampire".
There are wacky ghosts, plenty of inventive kung fu, and lots of fun. This goes in the same group as "Spooky Encounters" and "Mr. Vampire". Not quite up to their level but my kind of spooky fun.
The Buddhist Fist (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Solid old-school with the wild style I love from the Yuen! The bad-guy Yuen shines here as the hero...if you like "Miracle Fighters" or the like, you're gonna like this.
The old Taoist wizards are a teriffic pair. Lots of supernatural shenanigans and whacky kung-fu with great direction and oddball action make this one a must-have.
No CGI special effects may make this hard to watch for more jaded viewers - but this is well worth the trip. The director is the person behind almost all of the major martial arts sequences in western blockbusters like the Matrix...so expect some wild stuff.
This is like a mix of spaghetti western, Grumpy Old Men, and Tom 'n Jerry cartoon. The martial arts range from cool to whacky and the characters are unforgettable.
The only negative for some viewers might be some of the crude humor. If that isn't a problem, buy and enjoy!
The Prodigal Son (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Yuen, Hung, and Lam are fabulous - and the incorporation of Chinese Opera into the mix really makes it cook. Watch it after the opera "The Amorous Lotus Pan" for a real kick.

i think this is one of the greatest martial arts movies ever made possibly the best.
The Dead And The Deadly (product link) Martial Arts / Horror My top HK vampire/ghost/comedy films are Mr. Vampire, Spooky Encounters, and The Dead and the Deadly.
The Dead and the Deadly isn't as good as the other two but is lots of fun, with Sammo Hung doing kung fu as only he can do!
Celestial Shaw Brothers 10-Pack #2685 [Deltamac 10-Disc Box] (product link) Drama It is a definite style of musical which may not appeal to everyone - but these are great!
"The Bride Napping" is like a Shakespearean comedy, the "Amorous Lotus Pan" is a winner, and "Lady General Hua Mu-Lan" is terrific...among others.
Shaolin Master Killer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Great old school Kung-Fu--the training scenes in the "head room" are especially great.
