Bio: Hi, Im David , from Mexico. Spanish is my native language but I speak English well, thanks to my chilhood fear of dogs, which kept me at home watching cable all the time. I´m starting Japanese soon.
I´m of course a DVD fan and love Asian cinema, except for freakin´Kim Ki-Duk, whose films I really hate. On the other hand, I love the "lone wolf and cub" films, and lately Im way into Mario Bava films as well.
I also love cooking and pets(yes, even dogs)
Fireworks [1997] (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime This is...a very beautiful movie by Takeshi Kitano. This was my very first Kitano flick and I remember being immediately attracted to its power, its heart, its ingenuity…
Cyclo (product link) Drama / Art This is one of my all time favourite flix. Basically, a young "cabbie" gets his rented "cab" stolen, and resorts, almost indifferently, to a life of crime to be able to pay for it.
His sister, and the amazing Tony Leung Chi-Wai as his pimp/lover, are important characters too.
It's very colorful, psychedelic, even, in some parts at least.
It's a powerful movie, and though it has a couple of sad things in it, it's not a sad film per se.
I cannot put it into words, this a beautiful film and deserves a place in any Asian-cinema lover's collection.
Brother [HK DD5.1 Uncut] (product link) Crime / Thriller Some people say Kitano got a bit too "American" in this film. I think, besides that being kind of the point of setting it in America, it's still a Kitano film, and one of my favourite ones too.
It's got a bit more gore and comedy that your average Kitano flick, but it's a very, very entertainig piece of cinema with great acting and story.
Ashes Of Time (product link) Swordplay/Sword(s) / Art A very good movie. Strange, yes, but it's Wong Kar Wai. Anyway...you get the usual lonesome characters, dreamy landscape, lightning fast swordplay (in a very "Chungking Express" way) and...I don't know, I usually describe it to my frinds as "Crouching Tiger..." meets "El Topo".

I describe it as taking its time, deeply meaningful work of art meets great cinema, so there.
Bang-Rajan: The Legend Of The Village Warriors [Australia SE 2-Disc Set] (product link) Action/Adventure / War This one has a bit of that made-for-tv feel to it, but it's an ejoyable film nonetheless. Some of the battle scenes are a bit to CGI, but there's some really cool stuff in there too.
I won't bore you with the details, suffice it to say, I never regreted my purchase of the pricey UK version of this film.
Bichunmoo (product link) Drama / Action/Adventure After reading a couple of rave reviews and finding a very reasonably-priced version of theis film, I decided to order it.
Well, one thing I'm still wondering is why, when bodies are ripped appart by some mysterious power-sword, it looks like they had white flour instead of blood.
Other than that, I found this film to be quite boring and...well one of the worst korean films i've ever seen.
But hey, it's not that bad, I gave it one star just for not being "Ultraviolet".
