The Machine Girl (product link) Action/Adventure / Girls With Guns I have to say, when I saw the preview for this, there was an immediate understanding it was gonna' be hit or miss. I can't say it's bad, 'cause the movie really does deliver what it promises: she has a machine gun arm, there's ninjas, a flying guillotine, everything. However, the movie just doesn't seem to pull off the absurd craziness of, say, "Dead or Alive", or even "Wild Zero". It's over-the-top madness, but some critical ingredient is missing. Maybe they just used too much CGI. I would recommend watching it, but I wouldn't condone buying it.
Overall, if you enjoy ridiculous, bizarre movies, check it out. Just be aware this isn't the best.
The Holy Mountain [1973] (product link) Drama Man, I don't even know how to write a review about the Holy Mountain. If you've watch El Topo you may have some idea of what you're in for; if you haven't, well...Think about Pink Flamingos. It's not so much a movie as it is revolting scenes, one after the other. The Holy Mountain is like that, but with CRAZYNESS. Birds flying out of bullet holes, a sanctuary of 1000 testicles, a Jesus looking thief eating the face of a wax Jesus, lizards & toads re-enacting the Spanish conquest of Mexico, an old man's breasts turning into tiger heads, bathing with a hippo...if none of those even tempted you to buy this movie, you have no soul.
The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is due to the overwhelmingly pretentious nature of the movie, but hey, who cares? Eat about five hits of acid then put it in the DVD player.
