Chungking Express (product link) Art The thing that probably thrills me about "Chungking Express" is just how unique it is without being even slightly complicated. It just kind of jumps into these great stories, and takes off, leaving you completely hooked by these characters from moment one.
The mood of the film moves in several different directions, but not very far in any one of them. There's a limited amount of comedy, action, a little drama, and all themed around great romance.
Chungking Express deserves a five star rating from me because I absolutely loved it. I can't fairly compare it to any other films by Wong Kar Wai because it's my first feature from him. But if it says anything, you can rest assured it definitely won't be my last. Highly recommended!
Be it acting or directing, I've really enjoyed the collaborative efforts of HK's newer generation of big actors (namely Daniel Wu, Stephen Fung, and Nicholas Tse). That, and the interesting concept behind 'Heroes In Love' were the only things that got my purchase.
It's a romantic drama art film comprised of three short films, and a fourth (sort of) film comprised of scenes from the first three. All four contributions are enjoyable, but none of them really jump out as great. As a whole I'd recommend it if you're REALLY into these kind of high concept art films.
But on the negative, I feel the films and the characters themselves are bit too vague. At only 85 minutes, it seems like they could have told a lot more about the characters and the stories than they did.
So in the end, the movie isn't entirely hit and miss. I'd recommend checking out Enter The Phoenix, New Police Story, or Gen-X/Gen-Y cops for much better movies with the acting/directorial efforts of these young actors.

The King Of Masks (product link) Drama / Art This movie was simply one of those amazing feeling films. There's so many things I wouldn't want to spoil by trying to explain how I thought it was so good. Suffice it to say, this is just an excellent film. Highly, highly recommended.
