Bio: I am a movie fanatic and have always been one since I was a child. I can watch any type of movies and hold no boundaries on what genres I would watch. However, martial arts, action, and horror are still my favorite all the way. I know alot, and probably way too much about films and feel I can offer some very worthy perspectives on films and entertainment. I love to learn more about films and learning overall so my mind never wears out. Hit me up if you have any questions whatsoever.
Odd Couple (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy A classic film that was considered being remade by Hong Kong studios. You get to see some of the most amazing fight scenes from our legendary martial arts actors Sammo Hung, Lau Kar Wing, and Lau Kar Yan. Trust me, this film will have you stunned by how well these guys fight. The story is typical but the characters are fun, and it's also fun to see Sammo and Lau Kar Wing play two roles. I love this film and hope that people will enjoy it as well.
The 7 Grandmasters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure There's basically no plot in this film since it's your typical follow-the-master-and-bug-you-til-you-teach-me movie, but the action scenes are spectacular. Great old school kung fu flick.
I would've given this film a 5 but the ending sucked!!! Also, Jackie Chan's past life character seemed more interesting than his present life character, due to the fact that he was actually acting when he was the general. When he was the architect, he was himself again. The action in this film is your typical Jackie Chan action, just less ridiculous stunts--I mean c'mon, the man's near 60, don't keep expecting "Police Story" action now, people. His acting was quite good, seeing as he can't tell the girl he loves her and has to express emotions through his facial expressions. It's an entertaining flick with a great combination of romance and action, but the ending needed some work. Overall, don't expect any more young Jackie Chan movies and start appreciating the man's more recent films where he shifts towards acting. He won't be around forever, so cherish his films and his time here while it lasts.

My problem is not that Jackie can't do action like DMII anymore, it is what he has replaced it with instead.
The ending ruined it for me. But I really did love the rat/glue factory fight scene it was fresh. Jackie Chan still has those great attributes with his facial expressions nobody can pull that off sicne Harry Lloyd, Chaplin, Buster Keaton & marx Brothers
Cannibal Holocaust (product link) Horror / Thriller The over-the-top violence is probably the reason why it gained such a cult status, but that's also what made the film a classic. It was very tense and indeed very, very, very disturbing and not recommended for easily offended and soft-hearted people. I can see why the director got in major trouble for making this film. Honestly, this is probably the most disturbing and gruesome first-person film, and that's what makes it a cult classic. If you're easily disgusted or offended whatsoever, skip it.
Born To Fight [2004] (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Why'd so many people get hurt for such a crappy film? I heard stuntmen died to do this movie too. This film has horrible acting, unprofessional stunts someone would perform, record, and put on YouTube, and a very bad script and story. They even ripped off "Shaolin Soccer" with the guy kicking a soccer ball in exaggerated mode. I would've given it a lower rating, but some of the action scenes are impressive. Overall, bad film, and weird action.

FYI: I have checked a few sources and I can find no verification anyone died making the film. Not trying to brag, just know a couple of guys who were involved but not as stuntmen.People got hurt bashed, crashed ,sent to the hospital. All in a days work
I wouldn't exactly label the action as weird but more like creative and fun to watch. Also I believe it to be unfair to criticise the stunts of this film as that does not seem to be your field of expertise. You seem knowledgable- just not in this case.
Whoever thinks this film is any good must have some major brain dysfunction because this film is one the most retarded and disappointing movies ever, especially with all of the hype that was around it. First of all, it has nothing to do with the first one, except for the title, and yes the leading guy is Jackie Chan's son, and yes Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan square off. The story is about a world where men are women's bitches because the queen caught her husband getting' some booty with her sister. So she stabs herself and hates men for the rest of eternity, setting in motion a devious plot to turn all men into women by making them grow boobs and turn into actual females. That story plays out so stupidly, you'll be as annoyed as I was with the film. But then I thought to myself, maybe, just maybe the fight between Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan will make up for the film. NOT! It was pretty lame considering that fact that 80% of the fight consisted of CGI that kills the overall expectation of the fight. Donnie Yen does some spear moves that look like bad cuts from "Hero", and Jackie Chan is doing more CGI moves than actual hands-on moves. To sum it up, their fight is actually as disappointing as "Shanghai Knights" was, but it was just great to see these two on camera. Donnie Yen is in about 15 minutess of the film, which includes the Jackie Chan fight, and damn it seems like he didn't even want to be in this film. Corey Yuen has been throwing out nothing but garbage recently, and I doubt he'll ever put out anything like "Fong Sai Yuk" or "7 Grandmasters" again. The only reason I didn't give this film a zero was because the minute Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan opened up their scene, I was glued to the screen. Then it was over and i was like, that's it? So yeah, I gave this movie half a star because that scene actually caught my interest. Bad film, I mean fucking horrible film. So I suggest that instead of killing two hours of your life on this film, just skip this, skip it, skip it.

Beautful and coherent review! Indeed, this film was elephant vomit!
Ong-Bak 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Let me clear something up: this film was made only for die-hard martial arts fans, so quit all of the hating! This movie has all of the cliches of a classic martial arts movie but it comes with all of the goodies too! The fights are classic and show that Tony Jaa is indeed the next legend of action cinema. Now stop reading this and go watch the movie!

I knocked to 4 1/2 stars but I agree, why is everybody bitching about how bad this movie is? True martial arts fans will like this, who cares what everyone else thinks?
Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (product link) Horror / Thriller Even if you've seen the remakes, this one is probably the only one Takashi Shimizu didn't actually completely replicate, because the remakes have very few elements borrowed from here. This movie is far more spine chilling than the first, and you'll soil yourself more or less than I did. If you get scared easily, don't watch this because it's effin' creepy and shows why it's one of his greatest works.

Shimizu is a one-note hack who is about as versatile as Uwe Boll. Another terrible Shimizu film that was the exact same as the last.
Shutter [2004] (product link) Horror / Thriller One of the very few pale-chick-with-long-black-hair horror movies that managed to leave me unsettled in the dark for quite some time. When I thought that those j-horror rip-off flicks wouldn't scare me anymore, this movie proved my ass wrong big time. There's a hell of a twist in the end, and the story is an unexpected mystery that actually keeps you watching. A classic in its own right, so screw the horrible remake and watch this one.

Just like every other mediocre J-Horror ripoff, this movie is terrible.
The original is always the best. I agree this flick is def. a classic. The ending was brutal, and this film gave me chills. The remake was horrible, Hollywood will never understand.
Wing Chun (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Another great 90's martial arts flick from the legendary Yuen Wo Ping. Michelle Yeoh is excellent and charming as Wing Chun, but Donnie Yen plays a very unusual role compared to his other films. For one, he's more clumsy and doesn't get to show any of his stuff at all in this film, except for one jump kick maybe. Our lead villain, Norman Tsui, is awesome as ever and does a great job as the intimidating bad ass. The action scenes are classic and will recieve multiple viewings. A great film overall and worth owning.

Ridiculous wirework and, as usual, Donnie Yen doesn't do much more than preen like a schoolgirl in front of the camera.
Hero [2002] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Beautiful. Great action, great story, everything's perfect and you're missing out if you haven't seen this film.

Incredibly pretentious and ridiculous. This may be the only movie in history more stagey than Kurosawa's Ran. And the wirework is done to the point of stupidity.
House Of Flying Daggers (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie was great in terms of everything needed to make a masterpiece. Zhang Yimou crafted a piece of art using a simple romantic tale of two lovers on opposite sides just trying to be together regardless of what their comrades believe. The fight scenes in here are breath taking--trust me, when you see that dagger get thrown, you won't blink. Visually, the film looks like a beautiful painting transferred to reality. Some may argue that the story is the weakest of the three Zhang Yimou wuxia epics, but I feel that this is the reason why this film succeeded. If it became too complex, then fitting everything else wouldn't balance the film out too well. The actors do a wonderful job from beggining to end, engaging the viewers with every action, word, and expression they perform. This film is going to be remembered as a classic, along with many of Zhang Yimou's other films.

Another supremely pretentious movie from Yimou. Monochromatic color schemes do not automatically make a film brilliant.
Tom Yum Goong (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I loved this film even more than "Ong-Bak", even though they're both awesome as hell. This one had more fighting, while "Ong-Bak" was more of a Tony Jaa showcase. He's the next action legend, so everyone has to keep an eye on him!

Damned straight Movie Freak! I love both movies but TYG included more crazy fighting which is a very good thing!
Oh yeah, this as one of the best martial arts flicks released in the last 15 years. I dig this flick better than "Ong Bak" as well. In this one he got to showcase way more variety and give a shocking exploration of his wicked skillz.
cult classic, these movies are beyond words. Be careful the book of the dead is buried somewhere, reading from it brings forth demons of hell dimensions.
A very bad sequel to a classic samurai flick. The actors got away in the first "Azumi" because Kitamura shot the film with style and captured the action in good shots and good editing. This however shows that these actors and actresses probably never used a sword before and is very sloppy. The director of this sequel was involved with "Ninja Scroll" and he clearly rips off his own anime by giving one of the villains the same boomerang weapon as the one in "Ninja Gaiden". Tak Sakaguchi is wasted in this film as a dog-dressing villain, and the script was horribly executed, though there probably wasn't much to work with anyways. Her boyfriend, whom she slashed in the original, takes up a role as another person in this film and takes forever to die later on in the film. The director TRIED to make his death embracing, but it was stupid, long, and made me laugh. Calling this sequel horrible isn't enough. It's beyond garbage and shows why there are films that don't need sequels.

Azumi ended with the main characters having only partly completed their stated mission. A sequel was clearly needed in this case. However, it would've been better if Kitamura had directed it.
Dreadnaught (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A good martial arts flick, but the movie felt way too silly and the action scenes were good but also way too silly, especially in the finale. Kwan Tak Hing's Wong Fei Hung cameo however is still awesome and very very well choreographed. I liked the movie, but everything in this film felt too silly to be taken seriously at all. But maybe some of you will like it more than I did.

this could have been 1 of the best. if they had yuen biao maybe learn kung fu after the basic laundry training and less silliness.
House Of Traps (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I was really disappointed with this film due to the fact that the storyline was very weak. I thought that maybe the fight scenes could save the film; unfortunately there weren't many fight scenes at all and the house of traps around which the film revolved wasn't all that great. A big let down.

Ashes Of Time (product link) Swordplay/Sword(s) / Art It's a classic. You have to understand the story and everything else in this film in order to fully appreciate it. The action scenes are shaky but everything else is excellent. Don't judge this film because of the DVD quality you may have seen.

Of course it's a classic. It has enough depth to require a good deal of thought, and it rewards re-viewings.
Ichi The Killer (product link) Crime / Action/Adventure What else can I say about this film? It's weird, digusting, stupid, and has no damn point to it. Only people who have a crazy mind or very few brain cells will enjoy this.
Totally agree. This movie should dispel, once and for all, the notion that Takashi Miike is a good director. He belongs in the same class as the "auteurs" who directed Friday the 13th VIII and IX and Leprechaun III.
The Avenging Fist (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I was expecting something since Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung were in this film, but damn I was wrong. There are a whole bunch of CGI fights in this movie that look poorly choreographed, and you barely get to see Yuen Biao or Sammo throughout the whole film. As a matter of fact, Sammo doesn't even get to pull any hits, and the villain is garbage. And is it just me or did they try to rip off Tekken? I mean Wang Lee Hom looks like he's trying to be Jin, and Stephen Fung looks like a wannabe Hwoarang. Obviously the lead actors have very, very, very little training in martial arts, and it shows a lot. Yuen Biao pulls off some spectacular moves, and it'd look sweet even without CGI. I would've given the film a lower rating, but two legends are in the film and the CGI did look pretty good. Skip it unless you're into pop stars.

the original bullet ballet. a classic woo and fat movie
The Return Of Master Killer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This one isn't as great as the first one, but it still offers a classic finale that must be seen to be believed. It's kind of weird how Gordon Liu doesn't reprise the role of San Te, and another actor takes his spot instead--while he plays a monk he impersonates San Te. The training was awesome though and I found the film enjoyable. Also, this film has way more comedy than action, so if you're here for an all out brawl, you'll be disappointed. Not as great as the first, but a decent sequel to an all-time classic.

I haven't seen the movie in a looooooong time, but when I read the reviews I was hoping he'd reprise the role and reinforce why Ah Chieh was so convincing playing San Te.
Shamo (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime I saw this flick a few nights ago and it's actually better than I expected. I heard about this movie some time ago but didn't have any interest in it. What amazed me with this film is the visuals--it looked anime as hell and the action was pretty well done. Shawn Yue is okay as the lead, but you probably won't like him because he plays a knucklehead in the film, and when you don't like the lead character in a movie, it's hard to like the movie at all. Francis Ng plays the badass karate master here and Bruce Leung plays the leader of the fighting tournament and gets to show that he's still got his stuff. The movie is very violent and is not for those who like light hearted happy films. Overall, it's better than most would expect due to decent action and visuals, but the annoying lead character and weak script kept this film from being better.
Crime Story (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime I had never seen this movie until I bought Dragon Dynasty's DVD, and I must say this film is very different from Jackie Chan's other films. For one, it's much darker and there's really no comedy at all. The movie is a reenactment of a Hong Kong kidnapping of a multi-billionaire businessman, so don't go expecting your typical Jackie Chan movie. The action is more raw and brutal, and Jackie Chan and the cast do a great job with acting and keeping the movie flowing. According to certain resources, I believe Kirk Wong, Jet Li, or Tony Leung Chiu-Wai were considered to play the lead but Jackie Chan "insisted" on taking the movie on, so I guess [they were never cast]. A good movie but very different from what you'd expect of Mr. Chan.

Vacancy (product link) Horror / Thriller Much better than I expected, really. It was very tense and you get into it, but towards the end it got cheesy. Not a bad attempt though for a film no one anticipated.

You're right, it did start to get a bit crazy towards the end. But overall I was pleasantly surprised, and I think the first half is really strong.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (product link) Drama / Martial Arts The film is great but overrated due to the fact that westerners have never really seen wuxia films. The acting is excellent and the film is gorgeous, but the story felt a little bit corny. The film is like many wuxia films seen before, but the new technology allows Ang Lee to show wuxia like never before. You have to give it props too since it opened up more oppurtunities for foreign films to enter the U.S., just as Bruce Lee's "Enter The Dragon" did. It's a classic in its own right as a film, and for giving oppurtunites for more overseas films to be viewed.

You are reading this correctly. A very good film is seen by westerners as something new, which it is not.
Halloween [2007] (product link) Horror / Thriller Great remake. Honestly I thought the film was gonna' be worse, but Rob Zombie's re-envisioning was pretty good since he went into Michael Myer's past and showed why he became what he became. It was just a bit awkward how he went from a girl-looking boy to a 7-foot monster. Also, the kills were pretty bleak, considering Rob Zombie makes some explicit films. A pretty good remake and better than 90% of the remakes coming out nowadays.
Frontier(s) (product link) Horror / Thriller Very intense stuff in this movie, definitely not for those easily offended or with a weak stomach. The movie offered a lot of gore, suspense, and tension to keep me locked onto the film. Definitely worth a check.

Did we see the same movie? The first 40 minutes had zero to do with the rest of the film. Basically a bad rip off of Hostel (which sucked enough on its own), Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Haute Tension, only it sucked. Hugs and kisses, the Bottle Kids!
The Magnificent Butcher (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Probably one of Sammo Hung's greatest films ever. This movie is a representation of why kung fu films gained such a huge fan base. Sure, the story was the same as the majority of other kung fu flicks, but the simple story and breath taking action sequences are what made kung fu movies so damn popular. Kwan Tak Hing, the star of the original black and white Wong Fei Hung movies, also makes a magnificent apperance and shows us why he was such a legend in the old Hong Kong film era. "The Magnificent Butcher" is packed with nothing but spectacular fights and is one of those classic kung fu films that show us why no one can reproduce what they did in their era of filmmaking.
Chocolate [2008] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure She has potential, but the parts where there was wirework were pretty bad since it's obvious. The acting was okay, nothing spectacular, and the best fight scene is the "Kill Bill" homage towards the end. I recommend it for the action but nothing else, since you'll probably watch it a couple of times.

Taegukgi (product link) Action/Adventure / War Everyone involved with this movie deserves a damn Oscar, because this is one of the greatest war movies ever made. The actors do a great job and the audience will laugh and cry with them until the credits start rolling. The film is long, but there's nothing in here that should ever be cut because every single scene matters. The script, the production, the music, the casting, everything is as close as movie perfection can get. A classic and cetainly unforgettable for the times to come.

This should have been called Saving Private Jin as this film is a derivative rip-off. Totally overrated, as is Shiri.
I wouldn't go that far w/ Oscar talk & all, it's just South Korea's "Saving Private Ryan". The movie is def. well done, the action is incredible. The cast was perfect. Hey check out the director's other film "Shiri" it's a great pic too.
Ju-On: The Grudge (product link) Horror / Thriller I nearly crapped myself when I saw this for the first time. If you've seen the remake then you may not like it as much as I did, because it's so similar. But if you havent seen the remake, make sure you didn't have a big meal 'cause you'll literally crap yourself out. This movie is creepy, frightening, and disturbing, so be warned.

Five Superfighters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is one of those movies where the action saves the film, and I definitely mean that. Naked Weapon (product link) Crime / Thriller I'd give this movie a lower rating but those chicks are so damn sexy I couldnt take my eyes off of the film, and it was great to see the legendary Cheng Pei Pei in the movie. The action is way too corny in this film, especially in the scene where Maggie Qiu jumps on the Japanese guy's head--it looks badly edited and I just wasn't diggin' the movie overall. The only thing that'll keep you watching this badly made film is the sexy ladies, but then if you don't like women then too bad for you.

Red Cliff (product link) Drama / Historical This was a great movie and it's great to see John Woo back doing Chinese films again--well actually, it's great to see him doing films again period. This movie has very few action pieces, but goddamn it's epic. The battles aren't there just for show, and the story and script make the action scenes so truly grand. The brotherhood and honor themes from many of Woo's films are in here; and even though the movie goes past two hours, it didn't bore me for one minute. The characters are great to watch, the story is great, the action isn't what you'd expect--and it's great because it's not there just to be there. Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to the second part due out this winter.

This is also one of my favorite shaw films too. The movie is awesome.
Legend Of The Wolf (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts This was a great Donnie Yen flick due to the brutal and fast action and great story. I'll admit though, the only complaints with the film are the ones made over and over again with the bad angles and sped-up action; but it is bad ass. The story is not what you'd expect, and if Donnie came up with it, the man has a much softer side than his films make him look. Overall, I liked it, but try getting a widescreen version, the full screen versions seem to kill all the fun.
What Price Survival (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure My god this movie is horrible. It's almost unwatchable because the angles are all off and the film is shot with nothing but dark colors. Daniel Lee always sucked at making action films because of his shaky camerawork and bad editing, but my god this is the worst he's ever done. He manages to get some famous actors, but the lead character has no charisma and everyone gives a half-assed performance. The actors are great but they can't do much with the bleak characters they're given. This film is like a two-hour wastefest of what could've been a decent film. No wonder the film wasn't even well known. Bad. Just bad.
The Eye 10 (product link) Horror / Thriller When I heard that they were doing another Eye film, I just stopped caring, because by that time these Asian horror movies were being played out. But then I heard about the premise about seeing ghosts with 10 different methods and thought to myself, this could be good. WRONG! This movie tries and tries real hard to scare you in the begginning and fails miserably, then it turns into a comedy film? The Pang Brothers seemed to stop caring during production and just made a mixed up and stupid movie. The plot could've been something, but too bad. It's garbage, just pure garbage.
