Bio: I am a movie fanatic and have always been one since I was a child. I can watch any type of movies and hold no boundaries on what genres I would watch. However, martial arts, action, and horror are still my favorite all the way. I know alot, and probably way too much about films and feel I can offer some very worthy perspectives on films and entertainment. I love to learn more about films and learning overall so my mind never wears out. Hit me up if you have any questions whatsoever.
What Price Survival (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure My god this movie is horrible. It's almost unwatchable because the angles are all off and the film is shot with nothing but dark colors. Daniel Lee always sucked at making action films because of his shaky camerawork and bad editing, but my god this is the worst he's ever done. He manages to get some famous actors, but the lead character has no charisma and everyone gives a half-assed performance. The actors are great but they can't do much with the bleak characters they're given. This film is like a two-hour wastefest of what could've been a decent film. No wonder the film wasn't even well known. Bad. Just bad.
The Eye 10 (product link) Horror / Thriller When I heard that they were doing another Eye film, I just stopped caring, because by that time these Asian horror movies were being played out. But then I heard about the premise about seeing ghosts with 10 different methods and thought to myself, this could be good. WRONG! This movie tries and tries real hard to scare you in the begginning and fails miserably, then it turns into a comedy film? The Pang Brothers seemed to stop caring during production and just made a mixed up and stupid movie. The plot could've been something, but too bad. It's garbage, just pure garbage.
Ichi The Killer (product link) Crime / Action/Adventure What else can I say about this film? It's weird, digusting, stupid, and has no damn point to it. Only people who have a crazy mind or very few brain cells will enjoy this.
Totally agree. This movie should dispel, once and for all, the notion that Takashi Miike is a good director. He belongs in the same class as the "auteurs" who directed Friday the 13th VIII and IX and Leprechaun III.
A very bad sequel to a classic samurai flick. The actors got away in the first "Azumi" because Kitamura shot the film with style and captured the action in good shots and good editing. This however shows that these actors and actresses probably never used a sword before and is very sloppy. The director of this sequel was involved with "Ninja Scroll" and he clearly rips off his own anime by giving one of the villains the same boomerang weapon as the one in "Ninja Gaiden". Tak Sakaguchi is wasted in this film as a dog-dressing villain, and the script was horribly executed, though there probably wasn't much to work with anyways. Her boyfriend, whom she slashed in the original, takes up a role as another person in this film and takes forever to die later on in the film. The director TRIED to make his death embracing, but it was stupid, long, and made me laugh. Calling this sequel horrible isn't enough. It's beyond garbage and shows why there are films that don't need sequels.

Azumi ended with the main characters having only partly completed their stated mission. A sequel was clearly needed in this case. However, it would've been better if Kitamura had directed it.
The Tiger Blade (product link) Action/Adventure / Crime Honestly, I expected something decent from this film ever since Thailand put out films like "Ong-Bak", "The Protector", and "Born To Fight"; but man this film is horrible, from the acting, the action, and everything about it. I definitely don't recommend this film at all.
One Missed Call Final (product link) Horror / Thriller Cheesy and very stupid. The first two were good but this one is ridiculous. It's like a Korean drama combined with a bad CGI horror movie. The movie's very weak and I wasted two hours of my life on this. I'm giving it half a star because the women are pretty. =D
Whoever thinks this film is any good must have some major brain dysfunction because this film is one the most retarded and disappointing movies ever, especially with all of the hype that was around it. First of all, it has nothing to do with the first one, except for the title, and yes the leading guy is Jackie Chan's son, and yes Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan square off. The story is about a world where men are women's bitches because the queen caught her husband getting' some booty with her sister. So she stabs herself and hates men for the rest of eternity, setting in motion a devious plot to turn all men into women by making them grow boobs and turn into actual females. That story plays out so stupidly, you'll be as annoyed as I was with the film. But then I thought to myself, maybe, just maybe the fight between Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan will make up for the film. NOT! It was pretty lame considering that fact that 80% of the fight consisted of CGI that kills the overall expectation of the fight. Donnie Yen does some spear moves that look like bad cuts from "Hero", and Jackie Chan is doing more CGI moves than actual hands-on moves. To sum it up, their fight is actually as disappointing as "Shanghai Knights" was, but it was just great to see these two on camera. Donnie Yen is in about 15 minutess of the film, which includes the Jackie Chan fight, and damn it seems like he didn't even want to be in this film. Corey Yuen has been throwing out nothing but garbage recently, and I doubt he'll ever put out anything like "Fong Sai Yuk" or "7 Grandmasters" again. The only reason I didn't give this film a zero was because the minute Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan opened up their scene, I was glued to the screen. Then it was over and i was like, that's it? So yeah, I gave this movie half a star because that scene actually caught my interest. Bad film, I mean fucking horrible film. So I suggest that instead of killing two hours of your life on this film, just skip this, skip it, skip it.

Beautful and coherent review! Indeed, this film was elephant vomit!
Duelist (product link) Action/Adventure / Thriller I found the film very boring and dull because the story was very weak and the actors didn't seem to be acting--it seems as if they just put one face on the whole film. The fight scenes are shot from horrible angles and most of the time you're trying to figure out what just happend. Also, it was confusing to distinguish who was a dude and who was a chick between some of the actors. I would've lowered the rating, but the film does offer some beautiful music and visuals. If you're in it for the looks, you'll like it. If you're in it for a good movie, then look elsewhere.
The Avenging Fist (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I was expecting something since Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung were in this film, but damn I was wrong. There are a whole bunch of CGI fights in this movie that look poorly choreographed, and you barely get to see Yuen Biao or Sammo throughout the whole film. As a matter of fact, Sammo doesn't even get to pull any hits, and the villain is garbage. And is it just me or did they try to rip off Tekken? I mean Wang Lee Hom looks like he's trying to be Jin, and Stephen Fung looks like a wannabe Hwoarang. Obviously the lead actors have very, very, very little training in martial arts, and it shows a lot. Yuen Biao pulls off some spectacular moves, and it'd look sweet even without CGI. I would've given the film a lower rating, but two legends are in the film and the CGI did look pretty good. Skip it unless you're into pop stars.

ya a movie with biau and hung should be so much better
An Empress And The Warriors (product link) Martial Arts / Drama I would've lowered the rating, but the movie looks beautiful so it deserves some credit. The action here is recycled from every other film, and Donnie once again is the only one capable of doing anything in this film but is held back. This film doesn't know if it wants to be an epic movie, a romance, an action flick, or a commercial film; and it seems to try all of these elements and comes out way too sloppy. Donnie Yen is the highlight of the film, and should've been, but no, he's just wasted. I was hoping to see him act too. A disappointment.

I agree with your review. The movie is just all over the place. I did not like this film one bit.
Legendary Assassin (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I was really hyped up to see this film because I am a fan of Wu Jing and the previews made it seem like a decent action flick. I didn't expect it to be a great movie and maybe just a b-movie but sadly it doesn't deliver.
The story and the characters are poorly developed, with barely any background on any of the characters, and you're left questioning yourself. The action scenes are quite too over-the-top with heavy wirework, giving more reasons why Nicky Li has to stop action directing.
I only gave it a two because the lead actress (who happens to be the daughter of the white guy from "Snake In Eagle's Shadow") carries herself well and the movie has some moments. Once again Wu Jing is underused and will remain unfamous if he makes anymore flicks like this one.
Spirit Of Jeet Kune Do: Once Upon A Time In High School (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts The movie started off pretty good, with the whole Bruce Lee thing going on. The characters were very interesting too and I was actually intending to finish the film; but then the movie's pacing seemed to slow down and focus more on our leading man and the girl that he and his colleague both like, and I felt that this was way too shallow and boring, eating up way too much time. The trailers also tried to market this as an action homage to Bruce Lee when it's more of a drama. A lame movie and I say skip it.
Naked Weapon (product link) Crime / Thriller I'd give this movie a lower rating but those chicks are so damn sexy I couldnt take my eyes off of the film, and it was great to see the legendary Cheng Pei Pei in the movie. The action is way too corny in this film, especially in the scene where Maggie Qiu jumps on the Japanese guy's head--it looks badly edited and I just wasn't diggin' the movie overall. The only thing that'll keep you watching this badly made film is the sexy ladies, but then if you don't like women then too bad for you.

It was better than a two-however the chicks were a big part of the movie
Dragon Squad [2005] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure
A pretty bad film, considering the fact that this movie had a big and interesting cast that was wasted due to the weak script and almost unwatchable editing. The action scenes were badly edited and weak, the movie tried to pack too much in a short run time, and is it just me or has anyone noticed how much posing is done in the film? This movie feels like a photo shoot since the actors pose like every 5 or 10 minutes. Even the action scenes are comprised of heavy posing, especially the fight scene between Sammo and the military guy. I would've given it a zero, but the film wasn't completely horrible since it offered a fair amount of action and a funny cameo from Gordon Liu. The only reason Dragon Dynasty put this film out on DVD is because Bey Logan was a producer on the film, so I'm guessing he had distributation rights to the movie so decided to advertise it as a movie that seemed good. Not horrible, but a wasted effort.

Terrible movie. The director Daniel Lee is a messy film maker.
Disciples Of The 36th Chamber (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The weakest part out of the trilogy due to the lack of action and training. The comedy is a bit played out, there's no big fight sequence, and everyone seemed wasted in this film. I'm disappointed that Lau Kar Leung, who is a legend, made such a corny kung fu film. I tried to like this but couldn't because it's way too silly and the action doesn't satisfy.
Conman In Tokyo (product link) Nonsense Comedy / Action/Adventure Typicial kung fu gambling comedy, nothing special here except for an appearance by Yasuaki Kurata.
Chinatown Kid (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The film felt a bit fruity to me, and the action scenes weren't that great. Things just happen, but maybe you'll like this more than I did. The Venoms make an appearance but nothing spectacular. There should've been less talk, more action.
Born To Fight [2004] (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Why'd so many people get hurt for such a crappy film? I heard stuntmen died to do this movie too. This film has horrible acting, unprofessional stunts someone would perform, record, and put on YouTube, and a very bad script and story. They even ripped off "Shaolin Soccer" with the guy kicking a soccer ball in exaggerated mode. I would've given it a lower rating, but some of the action scenes are impressive. Overall, bad film, and weird action.

FYI: I have checked a few sources and I can find no verification anyone died making the film. Not trying to brag, just know a couple of guys who were involved but not as stuntmen.People got hurt bashed, crashed ,sent to the hospital. All in a days work
I wouldn't exactly label the action as weird but more like creative and fun to watch. Also I believe it to be unfair to criticise the stunts of this film as that does not seem to be your field of expertise. You seem knowledgable- just not in this case.
House Of Traps (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I was really disappointed with this film due to the fact that the storyline was very weak. I thought that maybe the fight scenes could save the film; unfortunately there weren't many fight scenes at all and the house of traps around which the film revolved wasn't all that great. A big let down.

I liked the film but agree the story was a bit weak and more could have been done with the house of traps
The Eye [2008] (product link) Horror / Thriller Not a bad remake, but that's because it copied 90 percent of the original. So, like I've said before, GO WATCH THE ORIGINAL AND SKIP THE REMAKE!

I would of rated this lowered but it copied 90 percent of the film. Yeah skip this mess.
L: Change The World (product link) Thriller / Science Fiction This is nothing like "Death Note", since it has nothing to do with it except for the Shinigami cameo and the character L, since it picks up before he dies. The film was disappointing to me because of the retarded story that seemed more like a "28 Days Later" plot, and the film seemed very dull compared to the "Death Note" franchise since there was no twist, tension, nor anything worth remembering. Only worth watching if you want to see what happens to L before he dies.

Personally I found this on a par wth the Death Note films. D.N. connection or no connection Iit's a good stand alone film and honestly L was the one character from Death Note I found interesting. It's nice getting a more character development.
Ninja In Ancient China (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Not as great as his other films, since this is a low budget film after all. The fight scenes weren't all that great, the acting was pretty bad, the story was your typical bloodshed story, and everything played out how you'd expect it to. Worth picking up if you're a fan of the man's work.
Fatal Move (product link) Crime / Martial Arts It was a pretty bad film overall--the story was messy and there was barely any character development. But the final showdown between Wu Jing and Sammo Hung was pretty good. However, the way it happend was very dumb, so basically go watch another martial arts flick or crime flick besides this one unless you really want to see it badly. Oh and the cameos are very good too, even though the film's bad.
The Valiant Ones New (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The film was okay, but man the wirework was bad, and you don't even see Yuen Wah until the very end. Nicky Wu does an okay job and it was cool to see Chen Kuan Tai for a little bit. Corny but not horrible.
Masked Avengers (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Another Venoms film; I was disappointed again. It seemed as if they tried to recreate the success of "The Five Deadly Venoms" but on a larger scale. Instead of five unknown masked fighters, it's a whole clan, and I just didn't dig the whole story. Chang Cheh's bloodshed by this era was getting played out, and this film clearly shows why. Bleeding all over the place was getting overdone in Shaw Brothers films and was just an excuse to pop some blood condoms. The action scenes were okay, but weak compared to other Venoms films. You can check it out if you're a fan--if not, look elsewhere.
Five Superfighters (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This is one of those movies where the action saves the film, and I definitely mean that. This movie absolutely has a bad story and bad training sequences, but the fights are good. Yes, I actually gave this film a 2 1/2 instead of a 0 or 1 because I enjoyed the fight scenes.

This film has a great story and excellent training sequences, and I definitely mean that.
I think this is one of those "you had to be there" films. It was revolutionary when it came out, and was further amplified by brilliant promotion, including a (fake) documentary that aired before its release.
Kid From Kwangtung (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I felt that the film was a bit too cheesy and was a bit of a disappointment, even though Hwang Jang-Lee and Wong Yu were both in here. For one thing, the comedy isn't all that funny and Hwang Jang-Lee seems to be the only one who was actually doing any impressive moves. Yuen Tak was also wasted in this film. It's worth a check but nothing more from what I think.

This movie is crazy sick. This review is a disappointment. Who cares about the comedy, Hsa Hsia did is job well. And you have to give Yang Yu his props, because he was believeable as a martial artist is this film.
Kiltro (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts I was a bit disappointed with the film because of its lack of action, since most of the film revolves around a weak story, poor scipt, and okay acting. The 3D was also very corny. However, the fight scene in the alleyway was very good. It's worth a look since the man has potential.
Painted Skin [2008] (product link) Ghost / Drama I'll get straight to some points. The story is meh (typical Chinese ghost/demon love story), the acting is so so (with Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei delivering the best), and the action is very disappointing, especially with Gordon Chan (the man behind "Fist Of Legend") behind the camera and the legendary Donnie Yen in front of the camera. This movie seems like a high budget TVB drama wrapped up into two hours like the Tai Seng cuts. It's an okay movie to kill time with, but fans of wuxia, action, and Donnie Yen may be disappointed.
JCVD (product link) Drama / Action/Adventure It was quite an entertaining film, not your typical old school Van Damme with tight shorts and overacting or recently bad straight to DVD Van Damme flicks. He scraps a lot of the BS and makes a spoof film about himself and does a good job with acting, revealing many details about his life and his beliefs and such. There are also funny references to other action icons such as Steven Seagal and John Woo. It's a decent film but I believe this movie has been overhyped and fans of Van Damme may be disappointed by its lack of action, but this is a great start for Van Damme trying to make decent flicks again.
Tai Chi 2 (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure A decent debut from Wu Jing, but the film was more silly than good and that's what brought it down. Our hero looks like a 12 year old who's pretty good with wushu, and many of the fight scenes look like poor reenactments of "Once Upon A Time In China". A decent wire fu film but nothing memorable.
Naked Killer (product link) Drama / Action/Adventure The movie felt very unbalanced and is your typical Hong Kong chicks-with-guns flick. The ladies are as sexy as ever, but the story seems to go all over the place. Then, just to mix things up, Simon Yam and Chingmy Yau start developing a love relationship that just doesn't catch your interest. The film had some good action in it and I didn't regret watching it, so if you've got some time to kill, check this one out.
The Hand Of Death [1976] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure So many people have given this movie mixed reviews that I decided to check it out and see for myself. I must say the film wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't as bad as it was said to be. This film is made up of a lot of bad acting but has a decent brotherhood story that John Woo is known for (he's also in the film!). Jackie Chan is in the film but only as a supporting actor, and everyone else besides him seemed stiff when they fought, even Tang Tao Liang, who is a Taekwondo master. James Tien made me laugh hard though when I witnessed the goose fist, because that was so damn cheesy. Overall, not a bad film, but then again we all hold different opinions.
The Peacock King (product link) Horror / Fantasy It was a cool flick, but it's very different from the anime, and the movie is done by Hong Kong so it has that Kong Kong movie feel to it. Don't expect your typical Yuen Biao action because this movie is FX-based, not hand combat-based. The special FX are okay and it was a pleasure to see Gordon Liu looking like a wuxia version of San Te. If you're into fantasy sci-fi films, then you'll probably like it more than I did.
To be honest, I actually enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would, simply because it's just a fun flick to watch. I've never been a fan of the twins but decided to give this movie a play since I was bored. It turns out it's not as horrible as 90% of their other films. From what I see, Hong Kong tried to make their own version of "Blade" but used two famous pop singers to drag in more money--I mean c'mon, they even got Donnie Yen to choregraph, who happened to work on "Blade 2" around that time period. Jackie Chan's guest appearance was also very welcome, and the minute that man steps in front of the camera, he stole the show, even though it was only a couple of minutes long. The story is nothing to be boasting about, since it's your typical must-kill-all-vampires thing with a lil' romance here and there. If you have free time to kill then this film isn't all that bad BUT DONT EVER, EVER, WATCH PART 2! You'll want your two hours of life back!
This movie had some decent action and okay acting, but the story was a bit bleak and the ending was plain stupid.
*SPOILER!!!!!* the story goes with David Chiang just trying to be a good citizen until the Emperor knows that he's a good fighter and forces him to go into Lau Kar Wing's domain and take them out or he'll kill his whole family. And the rest of the story becomes your typical kung fu flick. Later he ends up learning the mantis style through watching an actual mantis prey (LOL) then goes back, beats everyone's ass, and saves his family, right? WRONG!! The Emperor awards him for his actions, but his own dad poisons him and blames him for killing a hero, and the movie ends. I mean c'mon, you cant blame the guy for not knowing that he was exposing heroes to the Ching Emperor; and c'mon! his own dad poisons him when he was trying to save his ass? It was a decent flick, but many parts of this film were very stupid when you think of it overall.
Mortal Kombat (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts Overrated. The film was much more fun when you were a kid; once you start noticing how badly choreographed this movie was, like the majority of Hollywood films, this film is a bit too cheesy. A good adaptation though, since it stayed more true to the game than the second did. It's not bad but, then again Hollywood movies barely have good fight scenes.

Paul W. Anderson is a popcorn director. The film is really cheesy, I guess it had to be because when the game first came out there was little background. I enjoyed this movie was I was kid, I haven't watched it for a long time, but good review.
