When I've read Eileen Chang's books, I can see the movies which she watched inside her books. They're kind of reference movies. I love it!

I've discovered a great painter and a full emotional movie. The pictures are beautiful and the actors are so believable -especially Gong Li. I recommend this wonderful movie.

Lifetimes (product link) Drama / Art This is a wonderful movie about the contemporary China history. Zhang Yimou succeed to show us the troubles we can find in a communist society. The actors are strong. I feel all emotions. They play very well. Nobody is completely bad or good. The gambling problems in China still exist today. The pictures are so beautiful. I recommand this movie to anybody.
The Oriental Divine Vessel (product link) Documentary I've loved to see all the space adventure. I've remembered the American space adventure in the sixties. It was fun. Of course, it's a little propaganda, but it was interesting.
Summer Palace (product link) Drama / Romance This movie is completely against any Chinese moral rules. I've understood why it was banned in China. We found Tiananmen riots, sex, suicide, abortion and so on. I've found some longer parts in this film, especially with the sex scenes.
Loving You, Mama (product link) Drama This is a great movie! The characters are interesting and are well fit to the story. The pictures are beautiful. It'a about sacrifice and love. It's a great pleasure to watch.
Siao Yu (product link) Drama It was a very interesting movie. The illegal intruder is a reality that exists in any occidental countries. Green card was a subject of another movie with a French actress. The problems is important in New York city. The relationship between the Chinese and American couples are so original. Rene Liu is a great actress. She earns her price for this play.
Don't Cry, Nanking (product link) War / Historical If I want to express my feelings about the war, I will show it to anybody. It's a strong and hard movie. We see all the distress and ugliness about the hatred people. I've been shocked. The actors are very good and the pictures are beautiful (even though we see a lot of ruin and devastated area). I recommended this movie.
Three Times (product link) Drama / Romance It is very interesting. I've felt all the emotions about the three chapters. It's a great movie. In 1911, the filmmaker uses a kind of mute theater. It was great. I love a lot the 1920 movies. I recommended this movie for people who believe in love movie.
Raise The Red Lantern (product link) Drama This movie looks like a theatre of situation. Four wives and their servants lived together inside a kind of golden jail. People are so suspicious and mean. We never go outside. The master is mysterious. I've found a lot of tension. In my opinion, this movie is one of the Zhang Yimou's good one.
Anna And Anna (product link) Mystery / Thriller I've liked very this movie except for the strange paranormal twin theory. In my opinion, it was better to keep it as a simple twin relationship. The actress is very good and delivered the dilemma between two parts of their own personnality.
The Empress Dowager [1989] (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie is very interesting, about a kind of dangerous empress. The images are not so clear. This is a part of Chinese history not well known by Occidental people.
Twenty Thirty Forty (product link) Drama / Romance It's a nice sentimental movie. As usual, Liu Ruoying is a very talented actress. I love the way this movie shows us the troubles generations face in love affairs.
This kind of problem is always universal.
Double Vision (product link) Horror / Thriller In my opinion, it's a good thriller with a touch of horror. I loved the difference between the American investigator and the Chinese policemen in the way of seeing a crime. A good suspense!
Red Sorghum (product link) Drama / War I was lost in time until the Japanese troops arrived to the farm. I've been strongly astonished by the relationship between wife and husband. One scene is so cruel that I've understood the hatred of Japan. It's a good drama.
Riding Alone For Thousands Of Miles (product link) Drama This story is completely different from `Red Sorghum`. Zhang Yimou gives a new idea of Japan. In `Red Sorghum`, the Japanese destroyed anything and were so cruel. Japanese becomes more sympathetic. I've seen a big contrast between the clean Japanese and the dirty Chinese. This movie was very interesting, that's all. The pictures are wonderful. The actors are so good. Maybe, I'm not so good in Chinese translations; I don't quite understand all the emotions.
Migratory Bird (product link) Comedy / Romance This subject concerns sexuality and relationships. This movie could make a big scandal in China. Talking sexuality in China seems to be quiet. It's very nice.
