Master Of The Flying Guillotine (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure The master of the flying guillotine is a bad guy, nonetheless he's bad ass! This was my intro to Jimmy Hwang Yu and I have to say he was pretty bad ass in this movie. This movie blew away any expectations that I had. It's the basis for many movies that follow the tournament style story similar to that of Blood Sport, but much more enjoyable. Plus you get to see numerous styles of kung fu in one sitting.
Five Deadly Venoms (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure This movie is a excellent classic in my opinion. It's a good blend of story and fighting. The progression may be slow for some people, but for the hard core this will please the palate. Some may recognize some of the dialogue from Wu-Tang cuts.
Heroes Of The Wild (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure I recently purchased this movie on the sole basis of the stars and the fight choreographers. This movie had a decent story line where a man is defeated by a kung fu expert and he takes the man's son and trains him in his style of kung fu. He allows the son full opportunity to take revenge any time he feels ( of course he never really succeeds). Along the way his master has a good soul and saves a couple of people's lives. But his main purpose is an expert who wanders challenging all along the way. In the end the young boy learns his masters style and uses his head by incorporating the new styles he encounters.
I don't recommend this movie for new comers, but for the hard core this is definitely a movie to check out for the good fight scenes. I am keeping this movie in my collection for the sole purpose...
High Risk [1995] (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts This movie could have been better in my opinion. This is just because there was a certain tone of corniness throughout the whole movie. While the action, of course, was cool. I don't feel it was quite enough to save the movie. I am a huge Jet Li fan and can be pretty forgiving overall on a movie, but I have opted to not include it in my collection.
The Kung Fu Cult Master (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts This movie is a revenge flick plus a whole lot more. Too much to get into, but you can get it after a few viewings. This movie is a cool blend of kung fu, magic, and wire movement. There's a lot of flying and magic, which is pulled off excellently old school style. Even the real hand to hand combat is some of the tightest of choreography and includes a lot of cool acrobat-ism (flips and stuff)... This is a must have for the Jet Li fans.
