Erotic Ghost: Siren (product link) Erotica / Thriller I was really surprised by this one. I went in expecting cheap low budget thrills with Sora Aoi in it--and for the price, I thought why not? It really is a good movie. The acting, something that is often spotty in low budget B-Movies, is actually good. The characters are unique, which helps keep track of them--something many B-movies fail at. The action moves at a good pace--it never really seems to drag or go so fast you need Dramamine. The sex doesn't take complete control of the story, so it doesn't fall into the silly softcore category. It's surprises like these that make buying completely random and unknown movies so much fun.
Tokyo X Erotica (product link) Erotica / Thriller Nobody does weird movies like the Japanese, and "Tokyo X Erotica" is a wonderful example of weird at its finest. While being extremely weird, it still has a sense of realism that many films with higher budgets, professional actors, and much more straightforward vanilla storylines lack. Perhaps it is the use of amateur actors that gives the film its honesty--and, for amateurs, they do better than most professional actors I have seen. This is Pinku at its finest, a cross between David Lynch and the land of pure insanity. It may not be right for everyone--you need to be used to confusing totally non-linear storytelling and have enough patience to watch through the movie at least twice to understand anything that is going on--but if you are looking for something different, and I mean completely different, give this a try. I loved it, but then again I might be insane.
Hex (product link) Horror / Thriller This is one of my favorite movies. I have subjected all my friends to watching it, I like it that much. A Shaw Brothers take on the French thriller "Les Diabolique". Of course, coming from the people who brought you such gems as "Boxer's Omen", this means there will be gore and ooze around every corner. It starts off a little slow, but then it picks up grabs you by the neck and doesn't let go until the end of the movie.
The Haunted Cop Shop (product link) Horror / Ghost Very much in the vein of "Mr. Vampire". Having Ricky Hui playing almost the same cowardly second fiddle in the movie really helps hammer that point home. It is more buddy cop comedy than horror movie, but that isn't exactly a bad thing. I would have liked it a little bit more if they actually spent more time in the "Haunted Cop Shop" rather than everywhere else in town. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love "Mr. Vampire", and this has the same spirit, and that is plenty good for me.
Strip Nude For Your Killer (product link) Horror / Erotica One of my all-time favorite gialli movies that has one of the best titles of a movie ever. You know exactly what to expect with a title like "Strip Nude For Your Killer". It is an excellent example of the gialli genre, all the characteristics of the genre: naked women, exotic Italian locations, red herrings galore, sleaze, sleazy men, bumbling police officials, naked women... I know I already said that but they are everywhere. Topped off by the incomparable beauty of the queen of gialli, Edwige Fenech. If you are curious about gialli, I'd suggest you give this a try. If you can make it all the way through, then you'll love the entire genre.
Wheels On Meals (product link) Martial Arts / Comedy Fantastic Chan/Hung/Baio action/comedy. While I still like "Dragons Forever" a little bit more than this one, it is still a truly excellent kung fu film. The chemistry of the trio is excellent and much of the greatness of the film is due in large part to that chemistry.
Erotic Ghost Story 2 (product link) Erotica / Ghost Not bad--not great, but as skin-flicks go it has a plot, it sticks to it and doesn't get completely lost in all the sex. Could have used more Amy Yip, but then again, a lot of movies could use more Amy Yip in them.
Bewitched (product link) Horror / Thriller Shaw Brothers black magic at its best: bug eating, doll stabbing, ooze oozing, and blood gushing. More of a coherent storyline than "Boxer's Omen", which is in part a sequel to this film, the fight between the Buddhist and the black wizard at the end of this film is the same fight in "Boxer's Omen". Definitely falls under the category of "love it or hate it", while easier to get into than "Boxer's Omen", it is still pretty hard for the casual viewer to watch with all the gore and bug eating, but that is really what makes these films great--when else are you going to see insanity like this? Definitely not as cruel as torture porn, but really bizarre to Western sensibilities--but again, that is all the fun of these kind of movies.
Zero Woman [2004] (product link) Girls With Guns / Crime Good but not great entry in the long running "Zero Woman" series. Reliable action film that doesn't try to push itself beyond its rather small budget.
The School Teacher (product link) Comedy / Romance A movie that was ahead of its time, one part "Porky's", one part "Private Lessons". Starring one of the most beautiful women ever to grace the screen, Edwige Fenech. A must-see for fans of sex comedies and for fans of Edwige like me.
The Holy Virgin Versus The Evil Dead (product link) Erotica / Martial Arts Not the greatest movie ever made but certainly fun. Excellent low budget kung-fu monster crazy cult movie with lots of naked women. Reminded me a little of "Seventh Curse", which is another of my favorite movies.
Fox Ghost (product link) Erotica / Ghost First off, it is a skin flick. If that isn't your cup of tea, it's probably best if you stop now and go find something more to your liking. That being said, this is actually a solid skin flick; it has a plot line and sticks to it. It reminded me a bit of the first "Erotic Ghost Story" with good and likable characters. An interesting film from Stanley Tong, better known for more mainstream Jackie Chan-related work like "Project A" and "Rumble In The Bronx".
Bohachi Bushido: Code Of The Forgotten Eight (product link) Erotica / Drama Definitely the most nudity I have ever seen in a samurai movie--really the most nudity I have seen in anything outside of porn. Leave it to Teruo Ishii to go full out on this one. A tale of organized prostitution in Edo Period Japan and the ronin who enters their world mainly because he has nowhere else to go. Nobody makes films like Ishii now this either a good thing or a bad thing. This is one of his more sensible films in the vein of Female Yakuza Tale or Blind Woman's Curse not the surrealist insanity like Horrors of Malformed Men or Screwed. Definitely worth watching and if you're a fan of samurais and naked chicks you really can't go wrong with this one.

Mortuary Blues (product link) Horror / Ghost Very funny, a little disjointed but the hilarity and the quick pace really smooth out the early bumps. The movie is really made by the great characters, the three cops and the three members of the acting troupe. Their personalities and how the work together really makes this movie great. This is a lot of cartoonish fun and definitely worth the under 10 buck price tag.
The Boxer's Omen (product link) Horror / Thriller While not for everyone, this is one of the best of the Shaw Brothers' so-called 'Black Magic' movies, a wild and crazy plot involving glowing Buddhists, flying disembodied heads, insane black magic duels, and a pair of blood soaked kickboxing fights. If you like wacky exploitation it doesn't come much better or wackier than this.
The Haunted Cop Shop 2 (product link) Horror / Ghost I found that I liked this one more than the original "Haunted Cop Shop". They do an excellent job with a rather large main cast, which was something I had worried about when I started watching. Usually movies have a hard time when you have 9 main characters, but this one did an excellent job of making each of them unique and likable. The horror scenes, especially when Bad Luck (whatta name) is in the bathroom are really great, and the comedy is a good balance with the horror. Does get a little heavy towards the end, but these movies have a habit of doing that when it comes time to wrap the film up.
A real surprise and something I would definitely recommend for fans of horror and comedy alike.
Erotic Agent 2 (product link) Erotica / Romance Oscar calibre this isn't, but really, what are you expecting with a film like this? It delivers the softcore goodies and actually has a somewhat coherent plot. Don't expect miracles and you might find this movie isn't all that bad as softcore films go.

The Fake Ghost Catchers (product link) Martial Arts / Ghost A wonderful supernatural kung-fu comedy. If you liked "Mr. Vampire" or "Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind", this is definitely something you need to check out.
Black Magic [1975] (product link) Ghost / Romance Definitely the easiest way to get into the Shaw Brothers Black Magic movies with the aptly titled "Black Magic". It is the most grounded of the black magic movies with a straightforward plot and a lack of the celluloid insanity from movies like "Boxer's Omen" or "Bewitched". Lily Li is at her best as the charming seductress. Don't mistake this as a kung-fu movie; while it may have the Shaw Brothers logo, it is most certainly a horror movie. Too many stumble into this thinking it is going to have kung-fu, but when the witch doctor starts milking corpses people have a tendency to freak out. So be wary but also don't turn away, this is still a great horror movie with a distinctly Asian flair.
The Magnificent Butcher (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure One of the best, the kung-fu throughout this movie is flawless, even calligraphy-fu, which is one of the best scenes in the movie in my opinion. It has many great actors at their fighting peak, and the battles are nothing short of amazing. The plot does get a little heavy and may shock many Western kung-fu film fans who aren't ready for something so deadly serious in a movie that is filled with some of the best laughs around. A definite must have for all fans of kung-fu or just movies in general.
Killer Pussy (product link) Erotica / Horror Definitely interesting subject material that is handled with the right combination of dark humor and scares that is required to make this movie work. The ladies are plenty hot and get plenty naked. Excellent horror-pinku film for those who want to tip their toes into the pinku world.
Erotic Ghost Story 3 (product link) Erotica / Ghost Great Cat III movie. The 3rd in the "Erotic Ghost Story" series. It is more akin to "A Chinese Ghost Story" than it is to the first two movies in the series, but that works well for the material. Like all the others in the series it is beautifully shot, much more well done than movies with much higher budgets and more serious subject matter. Definitely a film any fan of HK movies should check out.
The Prodigal Son (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Astounding, simply astounding. Lam Ching Ying steals the show. His Wing Chun is some of the most effortlessly flawless kung-fu ever captured on film. Definitely one of the finest kung-fu movie ever made.
Finger Of Doom (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure An excellent kung-fu/horror/mystery hybrid. Moves at a little slower pace than your standard kung-fu movie, but the pay-off is just as satisfying. Hunchbacks, golden finger claws, and lots and lots of sword play. If you're looking for a different kind of kung fu movie, this will certainly entertain.
City Hunter (product link) Comedy / Martial Arts Not easy to fill the rather imposing animated shoes of Ryo Saeba in live action, and truly Jackie Chan is the only one who can. Very much a live action cartoon complete with sound effects. As a fan of the City Hunter anime I was very amused by it and can fully understand why fans of more traditional kung-fu movies and even more traditional Jackie Chan movies might be rather disappointed by this. More slapstick comedy than kung-fu film--if you go into it understanding this what you get is a really funny movie with some decent fights and decent gunplay. While it doesn't capture Ryo's character exactly, it hits Kaori and Saeko on the head. Very funny and amusing movie, if not the greatest kung-fu movie out there; but Jackie's ever present charisma really helps shine the rougher edges of the film.
Exorcist Master (product link) Ghost / Comedy While not as good as "Mr. Vampire" (it being one of my all-time favorite movies--so "Exorcist Master" does have a very big reputation to live up to), I still enjoyed this movie. I liked the competition between Eastern and Western Religion and later the two types of vampires, each invulnerable to the other religions methods. They could have shortened the dueling religions bit in the first half of the movie and gotten to the vampire invasion sooner, but all in all it was a solid hopping vampire flick starring king of the hopping vampires, Lam Ching-Ying.
Amazons Vs. Supermen (product link) Action/Adventure / Martial Arts An attempt at combining the Italian Sword and Sandal genre with the kung fu genre, with rather poor results. Very little actual kung-fu--mostly the filmmakers relied upon the sword and sandal material, which is either cheesy or extra cheesy--in this case extra cheesy. The Shaw Brothers had much more success teaming up with Hammer when they made "Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires".
My Horny Girl Friend (product link) Comedy / Erotica I like this one, make no mistakes about it, it is a softcore movie but damn if it isn't one of the best softcore movies out there. It has a good mixture of comedy and drama, I'm not normally one for romantic comedies but toss in some very fetching naked ladies and I find my position on them definitely weakens. If this isn't you kind of movie don't bother but if you aren't adverse to softcore romantic comedies you should give this one a try, it really is a cut above the rest.
The School Teacher In The House (product link) Comedy / Romance The plot description of this film was correct, this is the best of the series. Definitely ranks up there is Edwige Fenech's best comedy Giovanni: The Long Thighed. Sex comedy from the word go with plenty of sex and comedy. If you like sex comedies like Porkies or American Pie this will definitely entertain.
The School Teacher Bundle (product link) Comedy / Romance Three solid sex comedies from the queen of gialli, Edwige Fenech, who shows that she can take her clothes off in a comedy just as easily as she can in a giallo. If you like sex comedies you really can't go wrong with these, much like Porkies, Animal House, American Pie or Superbad. These are the prototype for all those films, and while they are a bit dated they are still a great time.
Mr. Vampire 4 (product link) Horror / Ghost "Mr. Vampire" is one of my favorite films of all time, so any of its sequels have a very high mountain to climb to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with that film; and of the sequels this is by far the best.
Despite the absence of Lam Ching-Ying, Wu Ma as the Buddhist and Anthony Chan as the Taoist are amazing as the feuding neighbors. Any seriousness is pretty much thrown out the window from the get go, but if you want a great comedy this is a great time.
Gozu (product link) Crime / Drama David Lynch gone to Buddhist Hell no doubt about it. This is one of those movies that you really can't try and figure out, you just have to roll with the surrealist punches. Distinctly Miike and a ton of fun to watch if you are a fan of David Lynch or of just plain weird movies in general.
Shaolin Master Killer (product link) Martial Arts / Action/Adventure Gordon Liu at his fighting peak. It does take some time to get going, but once it does it is an excellent technical martial arts movie. While it lacks some of the interesting characters, exotic locales, and odd plot twists of other kung-fu movies, this is still an excellent film if you have any interest in the martial arts.
Love - Zero = Infinity (product link) Erotica / Horror Wonderfully bleak pinku vampire tale. The gritty real feel to this story is one of its best characteristics, it doesn't feel like a movie more like a twisted documentary. It is the most believable take on the modern vampire, it manages to make their dangerous allure believable without taking away the horror of what a vampire really is. While still being a pink movie full of all the sex and weirdness you expect it really manages to rise above and become a really good movie that can be enjoyed by people who aren't fans of pinku movies.
