Gamera The Brave (product link)

Not as good as the recent trilogy, but much better than I expected. As a modern update to the 'friend to all children' Gamera movies of the 60s, this is about as good as it could be.

The pair of films are a reasonably faithful version of the manga. They held my attention for over four hours with a good cast, solid adapted version of the story, solid direction by Kaneko (more like Crossfire than his Gamera/Godzilla films) and good-enough CG. These days its refreshing to see a film based on two smart people trying to outwit each other.
